I have to say, this place was a vast disappointment. I went in on a Sunday mid-day and the establishment was out of all of the veggie offerings! The wings were ok, the meatballs were dry and bland. I love La Tasca, I probably do have a slight bias considering it is mine and Gem's "place". I know 5 stars may be a litte O.T.T considering the long wait you usually have to suffer, but when it's sunny and you are served a cold beer outside at a table, can you really complain? I always go for the tapas. Fullstop. It can become quite expensive when you don't realise how much you're ordering - which is quite easy. However, they do have all you can eat tapas for £10 during the week, which is brilliant. There are also many vouchers such as 50% off which are worthwhile. The food is just delicious. My 'must-haves' are the meatballs, paella, chicken fritter type things with garlic mayo, the san miguel battered cod, the little cubed potatoes with tomato sauce and cheese... oh I could go on and on. The service is a little slow as I've mentioned, but it is definitely worth the wait! They are always friendly and polite, and give you a wry smile when you order 50 things off the tapas menu. read more

La Tasca is in a good location in the middle of the city centre - it has the fortune of being in a small cobbled square that's sheltered on most sides, meaning you hardly even realise you're within spitting distance of half of the buses in the city and the tunnel entrance. Somewhere I tend to go in the summer, if only because of the large jugs of Sangria, this is a pleasant restaurant with decent food - either paella or tapas. It doesn't have a pleasant price tag though. Last time I was there, a jug of Sangria cost £16.50, and it didn't last very long. This is the most expensive jug though - you can get one for £12.50 which is a bit more do-able. There are offers for lunch for two for £10, which is basically 5 tapas choices. Probably enough if you're not too hungry! Ranges of tapas for 2 go up to roughly £30 at dinner time, and paella is roughly £10. Still, if you fancy a taste of high class med, this is the place for you. read more

Although it is part of a chain of Spanish Tapas restaurants, the Liverpool branch of La Tasca really excels itself and compliments the brand as a whole. I have eaten here around 5-6 times and have always had an enjoyable experience. All the Tapas dishes that I have tried were excellent, but not half as good as the huge pans of Paella that they offer. Last time we visited we had the seafood paella and it was amazing! (Far too much for both of us to EAT!) We washed this down with a two bottles of Spanish house red, which was reasonably priced and very good. After our meal we opted for a Spanish coffee and rum, followed by a glass of Kaluah with ice. Not many restaurants stock Kaluah, and I would fully recommend trying it here after a big meal and a few drinks! read more

Although Spanish food isn't really down my road, La Tasca should be given credit for its servings of authentic Spanish cuisine whether you're after breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have been here once before and tried their Paella de Carne consisted of chicken breast, spicy chorizo sausage, white wine, asparagus, artichoke, peppers and lemon wedges. The dish certainly felt and looked like the real deal, but most importantly tasted great even though I do find paella rice quite heavy compared to other forms of rice such as jasmine. What I do applause about Spanish cuisine, is that their dishes are colourful, rustic and contain quality ingredients plus they don't always feel blasé. In terms of service, I did have to wait a while (taking into account that it was busy at the time) but nevertheless, it was worth the wait. If you're looking to go Spanish, then La Tasca is probably your best bet in town although a bit on the expensive side. read more

This is a below-average branch of La Tasca. Well-presented and slightly pricey Spanish tapas as usual, but there was an uncommonly pushy waiter. Dined at the restaurant during my November 2014 trip to Liverpool. I've been to various La Tasca restaurants in England (Norwich, Leeds, etc). The menu is the same everywhere, of course, and the food is generally really good, and nicely presented. A bit pricey, too. The decor is also streamlined, and quite pleasant. The thing that bothered me about this particular visit was the pushy waiter. Apparently, servicing a single traveler was beneath him, or he was not expecting a tip (which he did get, despite his behavior). It was obvious that he thought that 3 tapas and bread with olive oil for a single person were not enough. With a pint of on-tap San Miguel these came to about UKP 25. So, why was he complaining? Won't go there again, if I ever get back to Liverpool. I like the La Tasca style, and their food. I did, however, not enjoy that particular dinner. read more

Its there but not sure if its that good!! La Tasca is a bit of a mixed bag. First of all, Spanish cuisine isn't that much t shout about en mi opinion. Then there is the service which can be pretty sketchy some times, and decent at other times. I can only imagine the place is not being run properly, the staff seem to always be in a mood for some reason. You see this is a common problem when you have chains. The staff find it difficult to get inspired. There is just no passion, individuality and diversity in being part of a monotone standardized product offering. There are over 60 of these nation wide and the other one I have been to is the Manchester one. Don't get me wrong this place is very cosy and welcoming however that satisfactory feeling is not extended to the food. This is more of a haunt for a drink or few with some friends for me but i wouldn't pick it out for a meal with some friends. Bring on the Sangria!! read more

Nowhere near as good as other branches I've visited. Deafeningly loud, so that not only could our waiters not hear us but conversation was impossible. Our plates were cold, while our cocktail glasses were steaming hot from the dishwasher. Food was mediocre, service poor. read more

I don't think you can go too wrong with La Tasca. They make great Tapas that actually is like the stuff you would get in Spain and they have a fantastically fun and friendly atmosphere. I always go for a pitcher of Sangria! When the tapas for a tenner offer was on you got such great value. All the tapas you can eat for £10 from their special menu (which had all the top dishes on it). I've always had really good and efficient service and have really enjoyed the food. read more

A great place to sit in the summer with a cool drink outside (weather permitting) watching the world go by as you tuck into delicious food. My favourite time here would be lunch in the summer, as I feel the interior is a little but crampped. For a girly lunch we'd normally order about 4/6 plates to share and that is plenty. read more

Really used to like going to La Tasca a lot especially in the summer but have found on the last few occasions its lost quite a bit of its charm. Yes the choice and prices of food remains good (and the price is always a factor in trying something new in case you dont like it and you're stuck with a full plate of it!) but drinks are very expensive and this can really make a big difference to the bill. Service is always quick and staff are helpful but taking all this into account there are a lot of fabulous places to eat in Liverpool in competition and I would tend to choose other places first. read more

I can imagine how nice it would be to dine outside this place on a summer day; I have only so far experienced its joys inside in the winter. Nonetheless, it was a great experience. They have a number of deals available such as the Tapas For A Tenner menu, which has a good selection of items available, or you can just order a la carte and explore the entire menu. Food is well presented and delicious, and a joy to eat. The staff are all Spanish so it adds to the authenticity of the experience and because of the interiors, it's easy to think you're actually in Spain; it's cute and rustic. The wine list is impressive and varied and there's something to suit everyone; I find the descriptions they give to be accurate and reliable. Do save some room for dessert as they have some really nice items on offer. Service is friendly and hospitable and you get a great deal whether you're on your own or in a group. read more

The first time we ate here we weren't that impressed, but since we use the taste card and could get 1/2 off of the food we decided to try it again. We were quite lucky because we came the day after they launched their new menu. It was fantastic! Everything was fresh and full of flavour. My boyfriend and I visited this branch on a recent trip to Liverpool, and although I think the service could have been quicker, but it was busy at the time. Expensive for what it was, as the portions were very small, but it was very tasty. I especially enjoyed the chocolate fondue for afters. We used the doughnut sticks to sop up the last of the chocolate. We also had a Crema Catalana liqueur, kind of like Dooleys with an orangey twist. Maybe next time we will try La Vina, as per henryslater's recommendation. Food was average, ambience nice. Gambas in garlic could have been more flavorful. The Sangria was clearly made 'fresh'. The Hake I could not eat it was way overdone. The potatoes were ok and so were the croquettes. If you want authentic pass otherwise fine for a casual night out. read more

Visited during Matthews Street Festival but was able 2 get a table no problem. There is a nice selection of tapas available but the highlight was the range of paella dishes which was very very good. I'm a big lover of tapas and the food here is great. Had a bit of an issue as I went with a group of friends after finding a great deal online and called up and booked a table and double checked the deal online was available which I was told it was but on arrival the staff had no knowledge of the deal in question and denied its existence until I showed them it online so they spoke to the manager who confirmed it existed and suddenly menus with this deal on arrived. Despite this glitch the service was great and the food was even better, fresh and tasty with a variety of flavours. read more
