Although it is part of a chain of Spanish Tapas restaurants, the Liverpool branch of La Tasca really excels itself and compliments the brand as a whole. I have eaten here around 5-6 times and have always had an enjoyable experience. All the Tapas dishes that I have tried were excellent, but not half as good as the huge pans of Paella that they offer. Last time we visited we had the seafood paella and it was amazing! (Far too much for both of us to EAT!) We washed this down with a two bottles of Spanish house red, which was reasonably priced and very good. After our meal we opted for a Spanish coffee and rum, followed by a glass of Kaluah with ice. Not many restaurants stock Kaluah, and I would fully recommend trying it here after a big meal and a few drinks!

Although Spanish food isn't really down my road, La Tasca should be given credit for its servings of authentic Spanish cuisine whether you're after breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have been here once before and tried their Paella de Carne consisted of chicken breast, spicy chorizo sausage, white wine, asparagus, artichoke, peppers and lemon wedges. The dish certainly felt and looked like the real deal, but most importantly tasted great even though I do find paella rice quite heavy compared to other forms of rice such as jasmine. What I do applause about Spanish cuisine, is that their dishes are colourful, rustic and contain quality ingredients plus they don't always feel blasé. In terms of service, I did have to wait a while (taking into account that it was busy at the time) but nevertheless, it was worth the wait. If you're looking to go Spanish, then La Tasca is probably your best bet in town although a bit on the expensive side.

Very nice food and atmosphere. Service is a little bit ropey. Highly recommended for a loud and social night out with friends.

However, they do have all you can eat tapas for £10 during the week, which is brilliant.

Round these parts however, El Nino is synonymous with two things - adopted Scouser Fernando Torres and this lovely restaurant in Crosby. Now, I could probably write an essay on the merits of Fernando Torres, so instead I'll tell you about El Nino's. El Nino's specialises in delicious tapas as well as a good range of Mediterranean dishes all at fairly reasonable prices. When we visited, I went for the chicken and chorizo paella which, although took a while (as we were warned it would), was well worth the wait as the chicken and chorizo combined well together with the consistency of the paella. We did not get a chance to try the tapas but their range of dishes did look extensive, and drinks there were not too pricey. Our service was fairly prompt with staff checking everything was satisfactory on more than one occasion and they were always friendly and polite. Overall, I found El Nino's to be one of the better places to dine in Crosby and a definite rival to Tapas Tapas.

The drinks were expensive, the food was mediocre, the service a little half-hearted, despite, or perhaps due to the fact that the rather large restaurant was empty. There was no life, no atmosphere and when my friends and I left there was a distinct sense of disappointment, of wasted money and a pretty poor evening. Since that evening however, I have heard good things about El Nino's, maybe we called at a bad time... I think I'd give it another go

Your palate will be convinced you have wondered into a bar in San Sebastián or Vitoria-Gasteiz and you will be gagging for a shot of txakoli to go with your pintxos. Simple ordering principle means you choose short sticks @£1.50 or tall sticks @£3 and they will serve up whatever is fresh on the day. If I could find fault here it is relative to the service suffering when they are particularly busy but, even though the kitchen may choke, the Spanish waitstaff are brilliant and take the time to make sure you are kept updated. From the alcohfrolics point of view they have scored a Bullring bullseye with their locally made Gin & Cava cocktail bar downstairs and having draught Estrella Damm and Alhambra scores massive points for those yearning for some Basque ambiance. I have been here multiple times now cos, as you already know, I like a side of food with my drinks and the small plates they serve are more'ish and authentic. Don't forget to finish off with some Cava & the Churro's and all you will be missing is some Spanish sunshine on your face :) #Olé,OléOlé,Oléééééé

A combination of agreeable staff and out-of-the-way location make this the ideal place to get gradually sozzled on wine and bask in the warm wooden coziness and brick-walled splendour of a restaurant with enormous amounts of quiet humility. Despite the huge pieces of cured ham leg hangign from the ceiling a la authentic castillian restaurants I can't say that it was the best Spanish food I have tried - not even in Liverpool now that it feels our economy is based on Tapas places!
