We have a holiday cottage 2km from this restaurant and absolutely love the place. Every time we…read morevisit the cottage we ensure we make a visit to Les Bains Douches. The Pizzas are cooked the traditional way in a brick oven and it adds to the flavour as they are to die for, especially the sea food pizza which is a personal favourite. For those who prefer something a little different then there are French & English dishes to chose from which are all very tasty. The sweet menu is very varied and their crepes are excellent. The place is run by a husband and wife combo who are extremely friendly and helpful and both speak English, for those who are not fluent in the local lingo! It now has an excellent seating area outside the restaurant and across the road from the restaurant for the warmer summer months. Prices are reasonable and it also does take away!

We went first as a couple and had an excellent late evening meal with a carafe of local rose and a couple of beers for a very reasonable EUR38. We used it the following lunch time as our boys are pizza addicts and they proclaimed the Magherita the best ever. The service is friendly and the food is both well cooked and fairly priced. Definitely well worth a visit and a top tip is to ask for a box to take your leftover pizza home as there will be some as they are enormous.

Am a bit biased on this place as have been visiting for over 30years the area and mainly eating at…read morerestaurant. It recently changed owners and lost a bit of its identity. The omelette aux cepes was good but not great as it missed the goose oil marinade. The ris de veau was topped with some herb pesto which covered the shortbread taste too much. Asked for a 2011 Bergerac reserve but was reserved a 2012. Room price was very fair and staff/owners nice though. One would improve on the breakfast as it was croissant and butter only basically. In general not bad but used to be better and more authentic under old owners.

This place looks extremely grand from the outside (probably hence the name "The Grand Hotel…read morePelisson"), however when you go inside, the restaurant looks more like a Swiss Chalet than the Gothic Facade would indicate. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful explaining the menu and what was in each dish. Service was also excellent, especially considering the fact that there were 6 people on our table. All our food arrived at the same time and all the food was hot. This place is a little pricey and is really the sort of place you may go for a more formal evening or a special occassion. However, the food was fantastic and well worth the price. I had the duck which was absolutely delicious (3-4 courses for about £30-40 PP - Wine extra). Our little party had a really lovely evening and would definately consider going back for that special occassion. The only thing stopping me giving this restaurant 5*s is the internal decor (a little dated) and the overall cost of the evening.

I visited this restaurant again last week and was bitterly dissapointed. It has now changed hands…read moreand as a result has changed the menu. It is now nothing more than a basic restaurant offering basic food to the guests staying in the lodges at the other side of the lake. The food is tasty enough but not a patch on the old restaurant..what a shame!!! I absolutely love this place. It is a small restaurant (seats about 30) with external seating in the summer months, covered to protect you from the heat. It is actually a restaurant to support all the chalets on the other side of the tourist lake but the restaurant still stays open in winter, even when the chalets have closed down. The restaurant is almost portacabin in shape but actually looks more like a log cabin. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious, I tried frogs legs here for the first time and was surprised just how fantastic they taste. Whether it is steak, snails or other French delicacies the food has never failed to impress. I am so surprised that such a small place 2 miles from the outskirts of a small country town can manage to get hold of, and keep, such a good chef. The place is a little bit more expensive than some of the other establishments in Nontron (the local town) but well, well worth the extra expense. This place is even better than the Hotel Pelisson for a price/taste ratio. A culinary must if you are in the area.
