I enjoy mostly visiting such beautiful buildings at night and the idea of walking around this area at night wasn't really inspiring. I finally visited La Usina on a Sunday afternoon with a friend, and it looks really beautiful... But it's a bit underwhelming. We lined up for a photography exposition for a while, and the place was so crowded it really was difficult to appreciate the captions. Of course this was on a Sunday afternoon, so it was to be expected. I got the impression that the Usina, even when it's huge, doesn't really have a lot of stuff going on at all times (as it happens with the CCK). There was live music, which was nice, but just standing room to enjoy it. Luckily the band stopped playing right before it started drizzling. It's a really beautiful building, but the surrounding areas didn't make me feel safe enough to want to visit by myself. La Usina also didn't have any other fixed installations apart from wall art. I expected more. Still, it's really nice and, best of all, free.

They should also let us know before the time they won't allow in beer we bought. Beer there is over 100 pesos !. I think they are overrated. There is a band that plays on Sunday's in San telmo fair that's way more amazing than them. Even the drums was not loud at bomba del tiempo. So disappointed. Rather go to San Telmo you can literally feel the drums going through your body plus you can watch for free.

Full disclosure: I went here to see my bandoneon teacher play for a tango show. So I got in as his…read moreguest, and didn't get any dinner. I can only speak to the quality of the show... And now I'll Further admit, I've never been to another tango show! I've danced socially for eight years, so I see plenty of tango already. And there's something overly touristy about shows, for me. But that's because I dance tango almost every friggin' day when I'm down here, and play in a tango orchestra back home. I am not the target customer. But! I totally enjoyed it. It turns out this particular show is not as 'slick' as what I expected, because they hire capable pros, and let them do their thing. So there's a good amount of improvisation (aka: realness) that I believe these shows often lack. The people next to me asked if I thought it was choreography, and I honestly can't say, for 80% of it. He was obviously actually leading her, so it had none of that "dancing with the stars" fakeness. They were watching actual tango dancing, at a high level. And as tricky as their moves were, I think it was mostly improvised... And of course the music was great, but who knows if non- tango people can tell the difference? Martin (bando player) told me that they get to choose different songs for much of the show, so they're wingin' it. Tango is like jazz: you *want* them to be wingin' it. But they rarely are, because it's so hard. So in conclusion: I have no idea if the food is good (looked good!) or if it's a good value, etc. But I can say you'll see real tango dancing and music from artists who are obviously respected by their employer... and that is not as common as you'd think down here. ;-)

It's the best way to order by the slice, soak in that classic pizzeria energy, and mingle with the crowd. We stood at the counter and tried the Mozzarella and the Fugazzeta. As a New Yorker who swears by thin crust, this thick, airy, Sicilian-style like pizza is a totally different beast, but I definitely understand the appeal. The Fugazzeta was a completely new experience for me. It's essentially a heavy base of dough and infused cheese buried under a massive layer of onions. It's rich and delicious, but the classic Mozzarella slice ended up being my favorite, perfectly balancing salty cheese with a slightly sweet tomato sauce. Come hungry because this pizza is no joke; it is very heavy, and two slices will easily fill you up. Overall, it's a solid spot worth visiting to experience a local staple, but don't expect a life-changing slice.
