Pierre, the owner, was always available to help with breakfast, directions, anything. Sophie was delightful, funny, service-conscious in French or English. She was fun! Céline, Pierre's daughter, was similarly friendly and very helpful. The inn has everything any traveler could need: a scrumptious buffet breakfast each morning, a guest kitchen with a fridge and light cooking facilities, a clothes washer and dryer, a swimming pool, and a very pretty rear patio and yard for relaxing. Wifi was always working, another plus. Our room on the ground floor, "Provence", was very comfortable, with an enormous modern bathroom with both a tub and shower, as well as its own window/door exit to the street. We loved our 5 days here and recommend Le Clos du Buis to anyone considering visiting the Luberon area. The village percé of Bonnieux is perhaps the most pretty of all the hilltop villages in the area. If we are in the area in the future, we would definitely come back to Le Clos du Buis. 10 stars!!!

It also has a pool, a few metres down the hill, so one can enjoy a nice refreshing swim, day or night, while overlooking the cliffs. Inside, the rooms were nice. Comfortable beds. All rooms were separated by curtains (including toilet area, sink/shower area, and the space between the 2 couple's rooms). Service: Claire was an incredibly sweet, friendly host with several recommendations as to where to explore, visit, and eat. She was very detailed, only in naming towns we should go to, but also where we should go in those towns, and what places would be good to eat there. The breakfasts consisted of cheeses, meats, French bread, yoghurts, fruits, a fruit juicer, and a selection of at least 15-20 teas. There's also an incredibly sweet, well-behaved puppy (2 years at the time of writing) who doesn't beg, but loves to play fetch (with a tennis ball, pine cone, you name it)! You just duck down and she (usually) just drops it towards you, so you can throw it. All in all, a wonderful place to visit that goes out of its way to make the customers happy and feel right at home!

If you're uncertain about staying here don't think twice, it's an absolute delight!

Their staff are super friendly and accommodating - there is preference given to guests of the hotel in regards to booking tables for lunch and dinner l at the restaurant! But as they recommend, book in advance because the restaurant is very popular - and for good reason! I was really impressed with how sustainable and luxurious the restaurant and hotel are!! Their continental breakfast has everything that you could want... and each of the restaurant spaces are beautiful. I didn't get the chance to use the pool, but I hope to visit again - and when I do, I'll definitely take the opportunity to go for a swim!

Since it's a little tucked away in a residential area, you definitely need a car to get here but parking is free. We wanted to stay in the Natural History Suite all 3 nights; however, the first night, it was booked. So, we spent 1 night in the Flower Room and 2 nights in the Natural History Suite. Flower Room- This is a very spacious 2 bedroom suite, great for up to 4 guests. In the master bedroom there is a bed, large closet, tub, and toilet. If you go downstairs, you arrive at a second bathroom with 2 shower heads. Finally, if you go upstairs from the 2nd bathroom, you access the second bedroom (more like a loft). Both bedrooms in this suite had A/C units. Natural History Suite- This was more appropriate for our party of 2. We had a large bedroom and bathroom with a tub and shower. If you walk outside of the bedroom, there is a separate bathroom with toilet only. They did not have A/C in this room, but there was a fan above the bed. Amenities- Villa HautVallon is more like an airbnb than hotel. There is a slightly heated (~75 degrees) pool with plenty of lounge chairs. The grounds are impressive, so I'd recommend sightseeing in the morning and then returning in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the pool and garden/lawn area. They have a breakfast room that overlooks the pool area, which has complimentary tea and coffee. One afternoon while my husband swam, they served us warm pistachio madeleines. You can also pay extra for breakfast in the morning (I think it was about $30/person), but we did not choose this option. Additional notes- The owner lived in CA for some time, so she speaks English very well. Decor is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms/furnishing are in great condition. If you have any guests that have difficulty with mobility or stairs, I would recommend staying elsewhere. Villa HautVallon has the original stairs from the 1800s (if I remember correctly) so they are very uneven and slippery. Even as a 30-year-old, I had to be cautious and descend the stairs slowly to avoid slipping. If you do have the chance to stay here, I'd highly recommend it! It was my favorite place that we stayed in France during our 2 week trip, and I am so glad we chose to stay at Villa HautVallon over the hotels near downtown Gordes.

The place and rooms are very well kept. The Air conditioning was perfect for hot summer nights and every room is very well equipped with all necessities. You walk out of the hotel onto the provincial street. Everything is in walking distance. Although English is spoken here, it is preferred if you use French. We were traveling for many days, staying at different places and this was our last stop. I needed to get some things laundered so I put a few items in the bag and had it picked up. The next day all of my items (but one sock) was returned. In my broken French, I asked the staff who delivered my laundry where the other sock was. He told me I only gave him one sock to launder. Impossible! Why would I only give one sock? He and I went back and forth with who was right...him ,"non, un"...me, "non, deux!" This went on for quite awhile. Alas, I gave in. I left the hotel with only one clean sock!
