If you're looking for a place that serves the region's largest variety of taco options, this place is probably it. We had to visit multiple times to take in those options, and we can also say that their tortillas are among the best, namely because they are built to contain those fillings, unlike others that are simply not quite up to the task. Here are a few tips that we'd like to pass on from what we've learned: - The Lomitos offering is one of the best, bursting with flavor and smokiness. I think it's often overlooked, so definitely grab one of these. - The Lechon, Cochinita, and "Pork Belly" are all great, flavorful and juicy. You can't really go wrong with these, though the "Pork Belly" may not be what you expect, so read on. - The Castacan is the crunchy skin and pork belly that most Westerners think of, so if you're looking for that experience, this is your taco. - The Asado Yucateco (beef) is solid, but a little dry. Pork options are going to dominate it. - The artisanal cerveza is a great pairing with their tacos. If you are a beer snob, it's worth the extra cost. - We think you can pass on the queso fundido. It was more of a cheese blob than what we prefer in a fundido. Plenty of tacos to placate your hunger, so this can be a pass. - The light brown salsa is great, with excellent flavor. The small, dark brown salsa is a tongue-melter, so proceed with caution. I'm a pepper belly, but that salsa probably overwhelmed the great taco flavors, so just know that. Overall, a great place to get the variety and explore it. Seating was comfortable, and service was efficient, though not very chatty. They can get busy at times, which just speaks to the popularity of a well done taco. If you follow the given advice, you may have more of a 5-star experience. We had some of the misses, so you don't have to, though part of the fun is your own exploration. Buen gusto! read more

On my travel to Merida I stumbled upon this lil taco shop and fell in love. This was my first intro to the traditional taco La cochinita pibil (shredded pork similar texture to pernil but better). This pork has no after taste marinated and cooked tender then served juicy. The mess is so worth it. After this place all other restaurants could not measure up. I came by to any location just to have THEIRS. I also tried it with refried beans called Panucho de cochinita pibil, bomb. I would fly back to eat these again. read more

The chaya taco was my favorite... Something about this leafy green veg dish reminds me of grape leaves on dolmas mixed w a hint of collard / turnip greens... They top it with crushed pumpkin seeds and you can just feel the nutrition entering your bloodstream when indulging in this regional delicacy. The pork offerings were also top notch with the smoked & crispy belly being favorites. I wish I had access to tacos this solid back in Texas... Great place where you can choose from meats and items that you can't find in a typical taqueria. I got a polcan (a fried, bean-filled tortilla) and a Panucho (kind of like a small sandwich) with cochinita pibel(like pulled pork) and campechano (not sure what it was but it was delicious). My daughter got this interesting esquitos pibelanes. It was one of my favorite meals here in Mexico. This place is the real deal. My lovely bride and I stopped in for a late lunch while visiting Mérida. For starters, we ordered the guacamole (very flavorful) and the esquites pibinales (nice smoky undertones). We also ordered the panuchos, one cochinita pibil and one chamorro negro. They were delicious, with fresh corn tortillas made by hand. Don't miss the outstanding flan de caramelo - one slice is plenty for two people! Highly recommended. read more

My hotel is very close to this location. I have been here twice to get some good tortas. Great for after a hangover or anytime you need good-priced food. It's not the best torta I have had here in Mérida, but I can't complain either; the meat is never dry, has plenty of fillings, and has great flavor. The waiter was nice and attentive. It's a nice chill vibe where you can relax, grab a coke, and enjoy the food indoors. 10/10 I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Mérida. So far, I have had the lechon and cochinita torta, both of which were delicious. 2 tortas + a coke + a tip = 200 pesos. Money well spent!!  You can also get it for takeout. read more

This is the taco place I have been looking for in Merida. They are now the standard I will judge everyone else. We have tried to eat here two or three times in the past. Inconsistency in their hours on yelp and Facebook. The waiter told us they open at 1:00 and closed Monday. Now I know and will be there after 1:00. We started with some cold beers and ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer. The cheese was delicious and melted perfectly. They gave us six small street tacos to eat with the dip. We used the taco toppings to add flavor to the appetizer. Only disappointment was they did not have pork belly that day. I ordered the baked lechon and the campechano taco. The latter was a mix of pork meat and sausage. My wife ordered the cochinita pibil and asado yucateco tacos. With the toppings everything was delicious. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it's not much to look at, but the food is 5 stars plus. We ordered the pumpkin seed dip and one of every taco. The only one we didn't care for was the chamarro negro - a little too much charcoal flavor for us. Besides that, it was difficult to choose a favorite. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned.
