When I asked if I could get something notarized, they all looked nervous. The "manager" with long red hair finally said, ""We will get to you when we have time, (very rude demeanor), It might be 30 minutes. She was busy talking with people at the copier and then went into her office. My daughter has been there twice before to try to get a library card twice and they were very rude. I have loved every library I have ever been to over 40 years except this one with extremely rude employees. Very disappointed. Will go to a different library. At least be polite!!!! Very disappointed. Won't ever go back.

This place is so open and bright. There was someone working at a desk right by the entrance, Sammy, who showed us around and told us about some of the things they do. I really liked their displays. It was cool how they even have a bookshelf dedicated to books that haven't been checked out in a while and will be excessed. I think they sell them on their carts by the entrance. I was hoping to find another library bookstore but oh well it was still fun visiting here!

The entrance is really beautiful and has a path to walk around outside, including a park that would be awesome for you if you have kiddos. The library as a whole, both inside and outside, was super clean and nice. There are many computers to use for free as well as places to sit by the window with charging ports for any electronic devices you may need to charge. There were two study rooms that looks really nice, although they were both full when I visited. It would be awesome if they could add another study room or quiet area in the future! The kind woman at the front desk was super helpful with any questions I had and added a very friendly touch to my experience. I will definitely be back to get more work done or check out a book or two in the future!

I usually order my books through their website and they always arrive within a day or two. Plus, they have OverDrive. Using OverDrive you can get same day ebooks. The system is really easy to use and you can even download Kindle books from Amazon. How cool is that? Their online system is handy too. I get an email when my books are ready for pickup and a heads-up before they are due. I love this place!

We stayed almost an hour. While there are more play amenities at the downtown Main Library, the book selection is as good or better for children. The books are generally in better shape, as were toys to keep the kids occupied while you browse or check out. Overall, it was less crowded, cleaner and quieter. If you're on this side of town, stop in and stay a while.

No one was in line when I walked to the voting area. The booths weren't as private as I would have liked but the screens were easy to read and the process was understandable.

The community center is located at the old Hickory Hollow Mall off Bell Road. I needed to get in a…read morequick workout while visiting town, and a friend recommended that I go here. I stopped by the front desk and was told they offer fitness center access for $3 daily or $30 monthly. I was definitely surprised when I stepped inside. It was much larger than I expected, well lit, clean, and tons of equipment. There were plenty of treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, free weights, and machines. I went during a weekday afternoon, so there were less than five other patrons. It felt like I had the place to myself. They offer fitness classes, have a full sized basketball court, and indoor/outdoor tracks that I didn't see. The locker room was small, but clean. There's also a large library on the other side of the facility. I would recommend trying it out as long as it's kept in top notch condition.

I love NPL in general because they don't have late fees. I have taken advantage of this a couple of times when I forget a book is due and am rushing to finish it. I'm not sure when you would incur a fee as I'm sure they don't let you keep the book indefinitely. One of my biggest pet peeves about other library systems is that, at some point, a book I return somehow doesn't get checked in and is deemed overdue. I always have to return to the scene of the "crime" and tell them in person that I indeed returned it and to where I returned it. Frustrated, I've made it a point to return books direct to a human at this branch and have not had an instance of a book not being checked back in. [knock on wood] What's nice is that no employee has ever cared that I ignored the bin outside and the return slots found just inside the entrance on the right. They just say "Thank you!" One feature I feel would really make me a solid 5 stars is if we could pause our hold requests. I would borrow 50 books at a time if I could read that much or if I had no guilt for keeping some other borrower from a book or two or fifty. But alas I have borrower's guilt and must make the brutal decision to *pick* which books I'm in the mood to borrow at a particular time. Speaking of hold requests, I sometimes strategically wait until my hold period is almost up. One time, I went to the library in the middle of the day on the last day a book was held. It wasn't on the shelf. I showed an employee the email stating the held period ended that day. She confirmed it was a mistake and found the book in another room. Thank goodness. She also confirmed the holding period does not exclude the last day. Hopefully, it was just a one-time hiccup. Lastly, I used the restroom and though it was clean and well maintained the auto-flush was so violently loud that I almost let out a loud expletive. It makes the Xlerator hand dryer seem like a light breeze. Just something to keep in mind if you need to use the facilities.

The Nashville Public Library system is pretty…read moreexpansive, and this little location in East is my go-to stop for picking up books on hold, or getting a change of scenery while working remotely. There's a small parking lot and some free street parking. If you're not used to turning into the Five Points neighborhood, I recommend going down to 10th Street and looping back around. The Nashville Public Library has an easy-to-use website, where you can place books on hold from any branch. They also have several e-books available to borrow, if that's your thing! Holds are available for pick-up on the shelves to the left of the main desk, and then you can walk around to the other side of the desk for the self-checkout scanner. Returns can be dropped off outside the building on the lower level (to the left of the front entrance). Because of its small size, this branch can get busy pretty quickly. Even still, it's nice to have such a cute little library in our neighborhood.
