When I asked if I could get something notarized, they all looked nervous. The "manager" with long red hair finally said, ""We will get to you when we have time, (very rude demeanor), It might be 30 minutes. She was busy talking with people at the copier and then went into her office. My daughter has been there twice before to try to get a library card twice and they were very rude. I have loved every library I have ever been to over 40 years except this one with extremely rude employees. Very disappointed. Will go to a different library. At least be polite!!!! Very disappointed. Won't ever go back.

This place is so open and bright. There was someone working at a desk right by the entrance, Sammy, who showed us around and told us about some of the things they do. I really liked their displays. It was cool how they even have a bookshelf dedicated to books that haven't been checked out in a while and will be excessed. I think they sell them on their carts by the entrance. I was hoping to find another library bookstore but oh well it was still fun visiting here!

The library as a whole, both inside and outside, was super clean and nice. There are many computers to use for free as well as places to sit by the window with charging ports for any electronic devices you may need to charge. There were two study rooms that looks really nice, although they were both full when I visited. It would be awesome if they could add another study room or quiet area in the future! The kind woman at the front desk was super helpful with any questions I had and added a very friendly touch to my experience. I will definitely be back to get more work done or check out a book or two in the future!

I usually order my books through their website and they always arrive within a day or two. Plus, they have OverDrive. Using OverDrive you can get same day ebooks. The system is really easy to use and you can even download Kindle books from Amazon. How cool is that? Their online system is handy too. I get an email when my books are ready for pickup and a heads-up before they are due. I love this place!

We stayed almost an hour. While there are more play amenities at the downtown Main Library, the book selection is as good or better for children. The books are generally in better shape, as were toys to keep the kids occupied while you browse or check out. Overall, it was less crowded, cleaner and quieter. If you're on this side of town, stop in and stay a while.

I stopped by the front desk and was told they offer fitness center access for $3 daily or $30 monthly. I was definitely surprised when I stepped inside. It was much larger than I expected, well lit, clean, and tons of equipment. There were plenty of treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, free weights, and machines. I went during a weekday afternoon, so there were less than five other patrons. It felt like I had the place to myself. They offer fitness classes, have a full sized basketball court, and indoor/outdoor tracks that I didn't see. The locker room was small, but clean. There's also a large library on the other side of the facility. I would recommend trying it out as long as it's kept in top notch condition.

There's a small parking lot and some free street parking. If you're not used to turning into the Five Points neighborhood, I recommend going down to 10th Street and looping back around. The Nashville Public Library has an easy-to-use website, where you can place books on hold from any branch. They also have several e-books available to borrow, if that's your thing! Holds are available for pick-up on the shelves to the left of the main desk, and then you can walk around to the other side of the desk for the self-checkout scanner. Returns can be dropped off outside the building on the lower level (to the left of the front entrance). Because of its small size, this branch can get busy pretty quickly. Even still, it's nice to have such a cute little library in our neighborhood.

It's got a decent kids collection, the adult side has about 1/4th the space of say Green Hills Library so you're limited in what's in stock, a food pantry shelf, and it does a lot of kid-based events. That said, since early times I can remember you use the Nashville Public Library website to request a book be delivered to them where you then go and pick it up. It doesn't have the greatest selection in house, but it has access to everything any other library has. Don't want to spend time walking the miles of books at other libraries? Bam here's your library son! Bookmobile for the win! Concentrated delivery optimized. You in need of an emergency puppet show or want to read to puppies? My bet is they've got you covered. Check their schedule man! You need to grab some food because you're hungry and need help? Awww yeah, just go in and I believe turn left and you'll find a shelf and no questions asked brother, they're feeding you. Need something for your friend? They got you covered. No shame. You looking to fix your dirt up and farm? Awww yeah break out your hoes and spades and get some freaking seeds. They've got food, flowers, a couple of things I'm not exactly sure on, and you can just get a couple and go and grow. Tactical urban improvement gardening for the win. Look, there are bigger better selection libraries that have more stuff in them. If you can and want, go to those. Thompson lane branch has got people who care and work with the community too. This one has Magda NPL running the sosh meeds to inform the public in posts in neighborhood groups and doing a pretty good job of it, it's got librarians who can handle more than sorting books. They've got computers for the under-screened, they've got pamphlets for getting back on your feet, they've got parking (usually) and are actually quite cool when your hoarder kid loses several books for an extended period before eventual return. The Nashville Public Library is so much more than what you can fit onto the shelves of any one place. So keep in mind you may want to go online to have your books delivered there, and it's well utilized for what the needs of the community are. Bring some headphones if you're using the computer and you should be able to drown out the sound of a library actually being used. One thing I would suggest though that I think would improve things is to move the computers, copiers, etc back away from the front desk but slap cameras on them that are visible from the front desk. This will prevent 1) purn, 2) my kids walking up and asking what a resume is and what are the things on it before I notice they asked. Library is what you make it. Order your books there, go make it a great experience.
