This library, located in downtown Nashville, has lots of resources for people, including my favorite: a "Library of Things" where people can check out useful objects, such as musical instruments, tools, baking pans, weights, pedometers, sewing machines, binoculars, etc. In the teen area, there is a huge maker space with instruments, a loom for weaving, fabric and yarn for creating things, a podcast room, tools and all kinds of things that teens can use to be creative. The children's area of the library has a big play structure that looks like a ship, as well as a rock climbing wall (I know!), sensory toys, and little nooks with areas set up for play. There's a whole section on the third floor with charging stations and places for adults to hang out. My magazine-loving self loved that they had an archive of old magazines bound into books. I found decades-old copies of Seventeen and Vogue. The whole library itself is beautiful, with marble floors and lots of windows. It was super quiet when I visited. What a beautiful and useful space for the community.

Finding parking was simple since there were plenty of spaces available, and I was able to walk right in without any hassle. From the outside, the building doesn't look like the newest library, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once I walked inside, though, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior was clean, well organized, and had a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and made getting a library card quick and straightforward, answering my questions along the way. I spent a few minutes looking around before leaving and was impressed with how nice everything was inside. If you've never been because of how it looks from the outside, I'd definitely recommend stopping in. It turned out to be a great experience, and I'm glad I finally got my library card.

We have been a few times now, mainly for using their printers and copy machine which cost less than 35 cents a page. If you have a library card, you receive up to two complimentary hours on the computer daily. Parking can be a nightmare mid-day but in the evenings, it's a lot easier to find a spot. The library is clean and very well organized. There's a large children's section in the back, an okay selection of DVDs to rent, decent amount of audio books to rent, and they offer Libby, too. This is a nice public library and this Constant Reader is proud to be a member!

The place seems clean enough despite being outdated. Has a bit of the old smell that could be fixed with some air fresheners. Really my biggest qualm about the place is that it is so empty. I had not been to this branch in years and was actually surprised to find out that the lebanon branch has become the better location. Honestly I think I'd only come back to this branch if a title was not available at the other location. Mt. Juliet you really need to step up your game.

You need to understand this branch before you go to it. It serves the kids at the community center,…read moreit serves people in need, and it serves as a reminder that funding the library system is important because it's too small to serve the area in all capacities. It's got a decent kids collection, the adult side has about 1/4th the space of say Green Hills Library so you're limited in what's in stock, a food pantry shelf, and it does a lot of kid-based events. It doesn't have a whole lot of books, no. That said, since early times I can remember you use the Nashville Public Library website to request a book be delivered to them where you then go and pick it up. It doesn't have the greatest selection in house, but it has access to everything any other library has. Don't want to spend time walking the miles of books at other libraries? Bam here's your library son! Bookmobile for the win! Concentrated delivery optimized. You in need of an emergency puppet show or want to read to puppies? My bet is they've got you covered. Check their schedule man! You need to grab some food because you're hungry and need help? Awww yeah, just go in and I believe turn left and you'll find a shelf and no questions asked brother, they're feeding you. Need something for your friend? They got you covered. No shame. You looking to fix your dirt up and farm? Awww yeah break out your hoes and spades and get some freaking seeds. They've got food, flowers, a couple of things I'm not exactly sure on, and you can just get a couple and go and grow. Tactical urban improvement gardening for the win. Look, there are bigger better selection libraries that have more stuff in them. If you can and want, go to those. Thompson lane branch has got people who care and work with the community too. This one has Magda NPL running the sosh meeds to inform the public in posts in neighborhood groups and doing a pretty good job of it, it's got librarians who can handle more than sorting books. They've got computers for the under-screened, they've got pamphlets for getting back on your feet, they've got parking (usually) and are actually quite cool when your hoarder kid loses several books for an extended period before eventual return. The Nashville Public Library is so much more than what you can fit onto the shelves of any one place. So keep in mind you may want to go online to have your books delivered there, and it's well utilized for what the needs of the community are. Bring some headphones if you're using the computer and you should be able to drown out the sound of a library actually being used. One thing I would suggest though that I think would improve things is to move the computers, copiers, etc back away from the front desk but slap cameras on them that are visible from the front desk. This will prevent 1) purn, 2) my kids walking up and asking what a resume is and what are the things on it before I notice they asked. Library is what you make it. Order your books there, go make it a great experience.

My regular branch location is closed for a couple of weeks for window repairs, so all holds are being transferred to Inglewood until it reopens. I stopped by on a sunny winter afternoon to drop off a few returns and pick up a few books on hold. The parking lot is a bit bigger than the East location, and it seems easier to access as well. After wandering around for a few moments, I was still unsure where to pick up my books, so I asked the team member sitting at the registration desk. They helpfully directed me to my books, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. On my way out, I noticed a few open computer stations, and some kid-friendly decor adorning the walls. Although it's a smaller branch, it doesn't seem too busy, and I'd definitely consider stopping by to work remotely or browse their book selection sometime soon.
