I needed to return a children's book and was driving past this branch. I figured I would just step in for a minute, grab another book and be on my way - branch libraries are small, right? We stayed almost an hour. While there are more play amenities at the downtown Main Library, the book selection is as good or better for children. The books are generally in better shape, as were toys to keep the kids occupied while you browse or check out. Overall, it was less crowded, cleaner and quieter. If you're on this side of town, stop in and stay a while. read more

Avoid the lines on Nov 8th and vote early! I went in around 10:30am and back in my car in 15 mins. Where to go in the library to vote is clearly marked. No one was in line when I walked to the voting area. The booths weren't as private as I would have liked but the screens were easy to read and the process was understandable. read more

As big of a library junkie/book nerd as I am, it took me a surprisingly long time to visit this library after moving to the area. It is aesthetically pleasing, the staff has always been friendly, and they have a pretty big selection of materials. This was also a great place for meetings and tutoring prior to COVID, and I'm sure it will be again once they can safely reopen the building to the public. This is one of the nicer libraries I have visited. And now during COVID, they offer curbside service so if you can't get that book electronically, they have you covered. I have used curbise service a few times without issue. Just make sure to have your ID ready and you will be all set. read more

I LOVE this library. It's always clean and quiet, they have a great selection, and the Carlos is amazing!

Knowledge is collected and passed on in part by reading.... "Read, read,read!" Best advice you could give to your kids! This library is clean, quiet, big enough to store plenty of books. Don't think anyone in prison for 10 years could finish reading all of this library's stored inventory, even if they read full-time! The library hosts an interactive story time for preschool children on a weekly basis. It sits in front of a community center with a pretty big awesome playground (rubber grounded) and across the street from the Hermitage presinct police station. Therefore, it's safe and fun! Perfect for enjoying your favorite read and a picnic on the park. To all my nerdy peeps out there, come out here and join their book club! SHHHHHHHHHH if you walk in here. The Hermitage branch pales in comparison to Main or even Green Hills. Sure it looks nice on the outside, but there nothing it has that none of the other major branches have, but it also has really poor service. Unhelpful, stodgy librarians are generally considered a stereotype, wanting to shush you and generally act arrogant. Their selection is generally mediocre, and I have to have books either delivered from other branches or just go to these other branches. The parking is ridiculous, too. Unlike Green Hills or Edmonson Pike, there are no parking lots adjacent to the front of the branch, meaning everyone, including the handicapped and those with small children, have to hike 200 feet or more just to get the front door. Not good planning. If you're in Hermitage, you're wasting your time going to get books. You might as well reserve them, then pick them up once they're delivered. If you want a nice library environment, just go down to the Main branch. read more

I'm somewhat of a library junkie and of the Nashville Publics, this is one of my favs. It's obviously very new and well maintained. It's huge in comparison to some other branches and has everything you'd ever need. It's easy to navigate as well. They have tons of DVDs and VHS, in particular the entire Star Trek The Next Generation series. For non-Trekkies they have other TV shows on DVD such as Ugly Betty and The Office. Their CD collection isn't as large as the Main Branch but it's pretty good. Their holds shelves are a bit small for the load but you can still find you're items pretty quickly. It, like all the branches, is closed on Fridays. read more

I love having this branch so close to my house. I've been going here ever since it was built and I've never encountered any problems. It's clean, quiet, and has plenty of tables to work at. The lazy part of me wants to complain that the parking kind of sucks. You have to park on the side of the building and walk up the long sidewalk to get in. It IS a little inconvenient if you're carrying a lot of books or a lot of canned food as I was on my last visit. Also, on my last visit it was approx. 8 million degrees in there. I was seriously starting to break a sweat during my 2 minute transaction at the counter. I wanted to leisurely peruse the aisles but due to the temp I just went straight to an author I knew and grabbed a couple of books. Overall, this is a perfectly good branch and now that my fines are paid off I look froward to visiting quite often. :) read more

Main branch is the best library of course, but I'd say second is a toss up between hermitage and greenhills. I would say the staff is a littler nicer at hermitage though. Tables are always open. Love coming here to read the nashville scene, hermitage news, and other local papers. read more

Pretty small library, but it's awesome to be able to check out by yourself like you're in a grocery store and really reduces the amount of time you spend in the library if you have a book on hold. Also - you can get electronic books on your ipad or kindle which is AWESOMEEEEEE! read more

Next to the main branch, the Hermitage Library is the best of the bunch. You'll always find a good selection of movies and books here and the staff is always helpful. They're also located next to a recreation center and a cute park! read more

This is the best branch of the Davidson County Library system besides the main one. Beautiful, clean building, lots of selection.
