I can see why everyone recommends this place. Since we arrived mid afternoon, we were able to seat ourselves in a booth that had a fan overhead which was super helpful in the scorching heat. You've got a guy right? And he's sitting there next to two trash cans (literal trash cans). His English isn't very good but he can make do, and in one trash can he's got standard husk tamales and in the other he's got those wrapped in banana leaves with a variety of fillings. That's it. That's the tweet, and if you walk by this man with his trash cans you're doing yourself a disservice. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? These tamales are big, and pretty much regardless of which ones you get they're $1.00 each, which is absolutely insane. The deal of a lifetime. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? It's hard to even describe how much I loved these, but I'll try to do so in pointing out that I went two nights in a row and also had some warmed up the following day before I headed to the airport. I did some research and had the spot narrowed down where I thought it would be, but was sad to see I was mistaken when I searched it out in the early afternoon. To my surprise, these glorious tamales don't make their appearance until later in the day and then are served until 11pm (or probably when demand dies down or they're out of stuff). I happened upon it (exactly where I thought it'd be) as we walked over for a cup of coffee and excitedly got in line to order a couple of tamales. They have several different options, but I chose to go with the cheese and pepper and the pork. Words cannot describe how amazing these tamales were. These things are MASSIVE (you could use the corn husks they wrap them in as a car cover) and by far the most delicious tamale I've had in my life. The masa is outstanding and the meat to masa ratio is great. The cheese and pepper tamale was a little spicy but still fantastic. The pork was out of this world. My mouth is salivating right now just writing about it. They were so good that I went back before the end of the night and got 2 more tamales as a nightcap. I tried the chicken and the beef and those were both amazing as well. Even though it looks shady (they pretty much serve them out of a giant bin that looks like a trash can), these are by far the best tamales you'll have in Cabo. I have such good memories that I get faintly turned on anytime I see a metal trash can now. It brings back my memory of those great tamales and I re-live the joy that I experienced that night. Do yourself a favor and try this. I had a wide range of meals while I was there and I can honestly say this was my favorite meal of the whole trip.
