We enjoyed a typical Italian meal (i.e. 2+ hours) during a long weekend in Brenzone sul Garda, one of many picturesque towns on the lake, just a few minutes up the road from Umberto's. We started with the Gran Frito Misto. Even though it was listed in the menu as a secondi, our waiter humored us and let us have it as an antipasti. The assortment of fried seafood and veggies was delish! I loved the calamari and shrimp. Even the sardines weren't bad! After that, we moved on to antipasti and secondi. My sister and I ordered the lasagne because it's a minimum 2 person dish. My hubby ordered the steak because... well... men like red meat? Y'all. I need to wax poetic about this lasagna for a minute. It was super creamy, bubbly and hot. Layers and layers of fresh noodles with a savory meat ragu sauce on top and prosciutto cotto and mushrooms sprinkled throughout. All served in a GIANT cauldron, easily enough for four people even though it was billed as a two person dish. The steak was good, too. And, we also enjoyed the sautéed potatoes. But seriously. Get. The. Lasagna. If you are still reading at this point (why aren't you on your way to Lake Garda for the lasagna?!), I suppose my last anecdote is that the house red wine was delicious.

Whenever we go to some place because it's just the closest thing open, I always cross my fingers and hope we don't land somewhere gross. Luckily, Marianna was not gross! Quite the opposite, actually. Marianna is tucked off the main road that runs alongside of Lake Garda. Unfortunately, on the non-lake side of the road, so there's no real view of the lake here. Because they're so close to the road, the outdoor tables are a little noisy from all the traffic. Nothing enough to ruin a meal, but also not as quaint and picturesque as other Garda restaurants. We enjoyed a great bottle of prosecco and a couple pizzas. The pizzas were hot and fresh. Very affordable. All in all, Marianna really hit the spot! We'd come back again if in the area for sure!

The decor is nothing fancy but is fine for an unpretentious pizzeria. There were ten people in our group and they did a good job in taking our orders correctly - most of us don't speak Italian - and getting our food to us quickly and more or less simultaneously. I had the spaghetti alla carbonara. This isn't very original but is one of my favorite dishes in the US and I wanted to see what it was like in Italy although I don't believe it is a traditional dish of the Lake Garda region. The pasta was very good but also very rich and very similar to its U S counter part. My wife had the grilled sea bass which she found excellent. Others in our group had pizza which they liked. We also had a carafe of the house wine and a antipasto plate. All in all the food and service was very good and I would certainly recommend.

My son had the gnocchi and he said it was good as well. Husband had the pasta with all the seafood in it seafood pasta. You can tell they use quality ingredients and fresh pasta. The pasta just melts in your mouth. We just had water, so I can't comment on the drinks. We would come back if we lived in the area for sure but we live far from here. I would totally recommend the ravioli with pistachio if you come and I would make a reservation since they book up. Very friendly staff.

They were really nice, but ignored our table. Patrons that came after we ordered were served before us. I really think they forgot the rest of our order after the antipasti came out at lightning speed. I never salt my food at a restaurant. Every dish frantically needed salt and pepper. The antipasti: pulpo (octopus) was not great. They had some sauce under it that was way too much and just was not great. For our entrees we ordered under pistachio tortellini and the seafood pasta. The tortellini was great after we salted and peppered it. The seafood pasta was lacking much seafood, it was average at best. There seems to be a lot of restaurants here, recommend trying something else...
