Once you communicate what your expectations and goals are, they can best find work suited to you. I have worked temp projects ranging from 3 weeks to indefinitely until the project is complete. They will do contract to hire full time if that is your goal. Personally, I like to work on a project and for as long as it takes to complete and then move on. However, if the perfect job came along, I would go on full time. Other times, I like to work for 6 months and take a few months off. But you have to be honest and communicate your aspirations with them if you want to build a good rapport. What people who have newly joined the workforce whether it was a layoff or they are just out of school need to understand is that this is the new economy. You can either embrace it and be successful or keep looking indefinitely. Most employers look to agencies like Office Team because the candidates have been vetted and it makes their job easier. From my standpoint, if I get a call about a project and it doesn't seem right, I am not afraid to say thank you but please keep me in mind for future work. The key is all about building relationships. The people at Office Team have always treated me with respect and in turn, I try to do a great job for their clients. Sometimes the project isn't exactly what I am best suited for, but I look at it as a learning experience and a great chance to build up a network of other potential future employers. The more you get out of your comfort zone, the more marketable you are for future jobs. Finally, if you say that you are ready to work don't be surprised if you get a phone call the same or next day. It doesn't always happen, but you need to be flexible and ready to get to work ASAP. When things do happen, it's usually quickly so keep your phone close or they will move on the the next candidate. Sometimes things fall through for whatever reason. Office Team is a match making service and they are excellent at what they do, but again, they are clients of the employer and at their mercy. They have to have everyone's best interests in mind. They are also in competition with other agencies vying for the same positions in certain situations which makes it more challenging. They are good, but they are not magicians. Just keep an open mind and don't be afraid to call them if you haven't heard anything. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. You may have to take a position that you consider underemployment but there are constantly new opportunities opening up. If you are dependable and hard working, good things will happen. Office Team is not the only game in town and depending on your personality and expectations, they may not be the right fit. But for me personally, I always go to them first when I am ready to work.

They used to work to place you and even expressed to the applicant to contact them at least weekly. They would CALL me and update me on everything. If they were working on something, they would keep you updated, until you went to work for one of their clients. They also used to call periodically to check up to see if you are still in the job market. I used to stay in touch and even recommend them to those who were looking for work. Now they just don't bother with you. I got a call about over a month ago from one of the recruiters (Stephanie) who wanted to do a video interview for a couple of positions that might be of interest. After expressing possible interest in 1 job, but needed job description/details on it (which I was surprised; she had NONE). The recruiter said she would ask the client to provide something. I even expressed my interest in talking with them by phone or in person. I felt the interview went well and we would build a good relationship like I did with past recruiters. The recruiter asked me to email her my resume, which I did. After that, I heard nothing back. No phone call no email to confirm she received it... NOTHING. I sent a follow up email weeks afterward... NOTHING. Good agencies will try to build their relationship with good applicants and keep them informed, even if the client (employer) is not interested or the lead falls through. Not any more. I was ghosted. I have worked with this agency years back and was always treated with upmost respect and had a good reputation with them. Now the applicant isn't even worth the time. Today I get a call from the recruiter expressing her apology for not getting back in touch and informing me the client changed the job on her at the time I interviewed with her. Apology was not sincere (it took over a month to let me know this). I could also tell this because it was a load of vague excuses, and I could tell she was told to do it, because I had previously left a review on another site, which their corporate office reviews periodically. Even though I'm in the market right now, this experience has left me dissapointed at the lack of integrity and concern from this agency and recruiters they now employ. It's obvious there has been a change in leadership at this location, because it is not the place it used to be.
