I'm extremely disappointed and hurt by the lack of compassion shown by this veterinary office. I had to cancel an appointment due to the sudden passing of my father, and instead of showing empathy, they insisted on charging a cancellation fee. When I explained the situation, the response I received was that I "should have let them know." How can anyone possibly predict the death of a loved one? At a time when I was grieving and overwhelmed, the last thing I expected was to be penalized financially by a place that's supposed to care for animals and people. This policy and the way it was enforced was not only insensitive, it was inhumane. I will not be returning and would not recommend them to anyone who values compassion and decency. read more

I used to live in Wilmington and take my Lab to Dr. Dixon. Always respected her professional opinion. Added a second Lab and met Dr. Deak. Really can't say enough about both doctors. SO thorough. I'm not local anymore but travel just under 2 hours because I trust these doctors that much. I've been to at least 3 other vets locally, and Lacroix was always the stand out in care. I hate the drive, but trust my boys with them. Wish I could get a traveling discount, but my duck dogs are WELL worth it. Do they like Lacroix? Try some competitors and report back. read more

I chose this place because of the great reviews, so I want to share my experience, which differs tremendously. Top takeaway: There is a serious lack office and process management, scheduling appointments, appointment overbooking, and communication. I have a hard time with businesses that expect customers to deal with their inefficient time management and scheduling yet don't respect their customer's time (with zero empathy or apology). While my interactions with the doc and techs have been good, my overall experience was poor. The lobby has been closed long after most places have opened after the high point of COVID, requiring customers to call and wait in the paring lot upon arrival. The typical wait time in my car has been over 15 minutes (for a 30 min appointment), then another longer wait while my dog is in the office without me. Also, my dog has gotten scheduled for future appointments without my knowledge or consent. I ended up getting a few "reminder " texts the day before an appointment, and I have scrambled to make it thinking it was my fault. After the 3rd time, I realized they just schedule appointments and expect you to make it happen. The last time my dog and I went there, I called to inform them we were on the way but running a few minutes late because my senior dog was having a really hard time. It was difficult for me to get my dog in the car---she was unable to jump up and I was unable to lift her into my car after several tries (I finally got her in, but I was in tears). The receptionist told me that I would have to reschedule for a few hours later or for another day. I asked why we couldn't be a few minutes late, and I was told that the doc likes to spend the full time 30 minutes with the patient. I explained that I really didn't want to take my distressed dog back out of the car and get her back in if at all possible. Also, my experience was that I waited in the parking lot for the first 15-20 minutes of my appointment, and we would arrive well within that time. She stated that the doc would be with another patient when I arrived, so I'd have to reschedule. I explained that I was trying to extend them the courtesy of letting them know I was running late, but that if we can't get in we'd have to go somewhere else and disconnected. The receptionist called back to reschedule, and I stated that we would find a different vet, we didn't want to reschedule. Well, fast forward to 5 months later and I get an automated text that my now deceased dog has an appointment the next day. I was too flabbergasted to respond. Then, the day of the "appointment" I got a call from the receptionist asking to reschedule my missed appointment. I explained again that we are now going to another vet, I am not a customer, and my dog was deceased. After that call ended, I thought that would be it. BUT, 4 days later, I received another text stating that they hope me and dog are doing well with a list of our next upcoming appointments---finally a list of scheduled appointments (but it's a bit too late for that, now isn't it?). read more

Incredible! I love their messaging thread! Makes it so easy to book appointments, ask questions, fill out paperwork all digitally! You can even check in before entering the lobby. A recent event had me worried about my dog, I was able to book an appointment same day, and they had me in and out of there in under 30 minutes for an anual exam, a few shots, checking on that issue, and blood work! Dr. Dixon and the staff are amazing! The staff is quick to respond to any emails or calls and they are so kind. Dr. Dixon is super knowledgeable, kind, and patient. I've been taking my kitty here since I first got him. He received two years of annuals including rabies shots and other vaccines. When I called to get his records for my new apartment, the woman was super helpful and was able to have them emailed to me right after the phone call. I also needed a vet's signature on his rabies certificate before travel. I was able to drop it off (as the vet had a family emergency that day) and pick it up at my convenience a couple days letter with the signature I needed. Everyone there is very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend for your furry friends! read more

This place was AMAZING! my dog is very skittish and they treated him so well he wasn't nervous at all... i was seen within minutes of being there even though i forgot to confirm my appointment! Dr Dixon was incredible and so nice and gave really good advice on how to treat my dogs anxiety. the price was incredibly low for a new patient... i got a new patient exam and nails clipped and glands expressed and it was under $40!!! First time here and they fit me in when we got a new puppy that needed to be checked out and our vet couldn't fit us in. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. They give a little bag of goodies for new puppies. The vet was very patient and let us ask a lot of questions. The vet tech was also really great. We will keep the puppy at this vet and we may transition our senior lab here too just bc it's so close to our house and I really liked their demeanor. read more

The staff and vets are SO accommodating and truly go above and beyond in every way - from interactions with my cat and dog to greeting me at the front desk. My pets have been seeing Dr. Dixon for over a year now. Dr. Dixon is always very thorough. I like that she clearly does her research and is really good at explaining medical terms in ways I understand without patronizing me. There was one instance where she recommended changing my dog's food but wasn't sure which option to recommend based on some peculiar symptoms he was showing. Dr. Dixon took time to research on her own then called me that evening to discuss her findings. She didn't have a staffer call or email me, she did it herself. You and your pets will be treated with this much care by all staff members at La Croix. It's a very clean facility with a calm atmosphere for the animals. My cat can be a real terror but they've never shown any fear of him. Other vets have almost refused to see my cat because he acts so poorly - they would get impatient and just want to drug him right away. The La Croix staff handle him with the upmost care and really take their time so he'll remain as calm as possible. I've never felt rushed or conned into buying something unnecessary like I've experienced at other vet clinics. Dr. Dixon and Dr. Halvorson are top notch! read more

I have a very nervous pup, and all the staff of LaCroix are so gentle and calm with Riley which is a huge help. When I voiced concerns of feeding my dog kibble, they offered me advice for cooking my own food properly to get the right nutrients rather than lecturing me or offering food sold by the vet. And, when I needed them most, they were there for me. My dog was attacked and required surgery from the trauma vet in town. They called immediately after getting the fax of his care to make sure he was okay and get follow up care scheduled. They also ensured the follow up visits were discounted so I didn't get another huge bill after the emergency surgery (at another facility). Very classy, and very appreciated for a sad mom seeing her dog go through something like that. Thank you LaCroix for providing great care! read more

I've been taking my Weim to Lacroix for a while now. My pet and I have always been treated with kindness and respect. The vets and techs are both knowledgeable and thorough and recognize my dog and I when we walk in the door. My dog actually gets excited when we pull into the parking lot and she realizes where we are. Prices are average - not the cheapest place in town, but not the most expensive. I would recommend this veterinary hospital to my friends and family. read more

I came here on a recommendation from a friend for a first patient exam for my kitten Abel. I couldn't have been more pleased. I signed in and in less than 5 minutes I was in. The vet tech was very friendly and patient with me as I asked many questions. The vet was friendly as well. I could tell they really cared for the welfare of Abel. As part of the initial exam, he received a FVRCP vaccine, fecal exam, intestinal parasite treatment, and a feline triple FIV. They also trimmed his long claws. I'm very satisfied with my choice of vet and feel confident Abel will get the best care here! read more

Very very nice but sent me home without the applicator for my cats medication, didn't warn that my cat will foam if the medication touches his tongue, and when I called to ask what is happening the tech said there was no medication listed on my cats file. The vet called to apologize. read more

We love LaCroix! I know when our two kitties go for check ups or sick visits that they are in good hands! The vets, techs, and other staff are all incredibly friendly and make our pets feel loved. Even though one of our cats isn't the happiest at the vet, everyone handles him with care and still treats him with kindness (while they avoid being scratched!). I cannot express my gratitude enough to the entire staff at LaCroix. Our dog was older when we started going here and it was by far the best Vet experience we ever had. Everybody from reception, techs, and the Vets treated our dog with care, kindness, and respect. When it was time to make the most difficult decision of my life in order to end her suffering, I could not believe the incredible thoughtfulness that went into helping us keep her comfortable as well as ensuring us we were making the right decision. From the suggestion of the best time of day for our appointment, all the way to when we received a hand signed sympathy card in the mail a week later, I couldn't have asked for a more empathetic experience. My husband and I found a little stray male cat. We planned to have him neutered and get his shots on payday and make him part of our family. He had fleas and ear mites so my husband stopped at the Lacroix Veterinary Clinic to purchase a tube of Revolution. The woman at the front desk said they didn't sell Revolution over the counter. The cat would have to be seen by a vet to get it. My husband asked if there was anything that they did sell over the counter for fleas or could she recommend anything as we couldn't afford to see the vet until the end of the month. Her recommendation was that we find the cat a better home since we were unwilling to give him the proper care. My husband thought he'd heard her wrong and asked her to repeat what she'd said. She told him he was unfit to have an animal and that he should find the cat a better home. A patient in the waiting room gasped in disbelief when she heard the woman say this. My husband said that he would be using another vet in the future and left. He'd given his name when he came in and our info was in their computer. She called Animal control, reported us for animal abuse and neglect and we are now facing $300 in fines and were given 72 hours to get the little stray neutered, get his shots and have him treated for fleas and ear mites or all our cats (we have four old cat who were once strays) would be taken from our home and we could be facing more fines and possible jail time. By filing a false report the staff at Lacroix have destroyed my family financially and emotionally for no reason. read more

Do you know how much I love LaCroix? I have moved away from the area and now have a weekend home at WB. I plan my trips back to town around the vet visits! I have been using this vet hospital for nine years and love, love, love them! The techs are excellent with my dogs and I highly trust the vets. I "shopped around" and found them to be a good value too...especially compared to where I live now. Hence I won't leave them...even though I live hours away!! read more

The techs all care about animals and are highly qualified to answer your questions. If they are not sure, they will find out and get back to you. I brought my cat Olie there two years ago nearly dead. Dr. Christy went above and beyond, called specialists and got the info she needed to save his life. My same cat was in again a few days ago, and Dr. Amy was great. She called me back sooner then expected, told me what was wrong, what needed to be done, what I needed to do when I brought him home and a price estimate. She put me at ease. I had been going to see Dr. LaCroix for YEARS. I am a pit bull owner and absoluteley loved Dr. LaCroix and his staff. He loved my Pit Bull too. Then, one dreadfull day, he decided to retire and sell his practice. I took my pit in for his usual check-up and nail clipping and was astonished by what happened. Dr. Lacroix would take us BOTH in the exam room, do his fecal and other exams, and clip his nails while I held his head and comforted him, no problem. That was why I loved going to Dr. LaCroix. It was simple and easy. BUT NOT THIS TIME! They took my dog back, WITHOUT ME (80 lb pit bull) and tried to stick their finger up his butt and clip his nails. That Sh*t is NOT happening, and I tried to tell them it would never happen. So 10 minutes later they come up to tell me "YOU have a very aggressive dog and we can not do his fecal OR clip his nails without sedating him." I said "I will not sedate my dog. I told you that you would not be able to do it without me. Let me go back so we can get it done." Dr LaCroix and I ALWAYS did it with NO PROBLEMS!!" But they refused to let me go back with my dog. And they wrote in his chart that he was a very aggressive dog. My pit is in no way, shape or form aggressive!! He always went in that office wagging his tail and licking everyone to death. He is a very happy, caring & loving pit! I raised him to be around others and children and other dogs with no problems!! It's like they instantly were stereo typing my pit bull. He would not hurt a fly!! I told them "If someone tried putting something up your butt you would not like it either!" All they had to do is let me hold his head and comfort him. Stupid AS* DRS!! Then she told me if it took more than one of them to clip his nails they would charge me double!! I was like "WHAT?? Dr. Lacroix would have NEVER DONE THAT!!" What a crock!! I heard that he wished he would not have sold his name with the practice because there are so many bad stories he has been told about the new owners. I will NEVER take any of my animals back there EVER!!! read more
