I did not know that there is a monument for the late Manila Mayor, Arsenio Lacson, until I visited the Manila City Hall for the first time last year.
Because I tend to get lost a lot while on foot, I stumbled upon this when I took a different exit.
I don't know much about Mayor Lacson, except that I've read and heard he was one of the greatest mayors the city ever had. There's also that rumor, now an urban legend, that he is the real father of Imee Marcos.
I've also had the pleasure of working with his son, Arsenic Lacson, who worked at the Philippine Olympic Committee, together with Mr. Manuel Lopez, also the son of another great Manila Mayor.
Monuments like these are markers of a history unknown to many Manilans, because in the first place we do not visit these markers. I hope we can explore more of the city and get to know more about the past and perhaps work our way to a better future for our city. read more
