They claimed they screwed up a prior visit when they pricked my child's fingers for blood. They stated that in order to give her the age appropriate shots she had to get her fingers pricked all over again eve though they did that painful process a month ago! All she needed were shots! They stated she had to do the whole process over again just to get her shots. The nurse dismissed the facts and common sense. To top it off she insulted my intelligence by coming up with several excuses which held no ground. Additionally, as minuscule as it may sound; on a separate visit, I advised the ladies at the counter they had a tick crawling around the waiting room floor as there were a few children in the room. They replied, "oooh, that's gross", and did absolutely nothing about it. Yeah, they didnt seem to care that day. Time to change providers.

Since there are a good number of doctors, scheduling and rescheduling appointments is very convenient; you can even schedule on the day of if needed. For those sudden sicknesses, they have a sick waiting room and also a well patient waiting room for check-ups. We also love the convenient online check-in that can be completed from home. If completed before arrival, you can just quickly check in with the receptionist then head to the waiting room -- no refilling out papers every visit! They always listen to and address my concerns and voice any concerns they have. Years ago my son was seen by doctors that did not exhibit this level of care. They would simply tell me what to do without listening to the fact I had been doing those things for a very long time. My son is very small for his age. He has just recently started to sprout. The staff at pediatrics east has always listened to me. They believe that the parents really know their children and will ask questions if there are concerns. I love this. My infant daughter is now in their care. Dr. Fesmire checks my children over thoroughly and compliments me when we speak about little things like changing my baby's baby wash due to eczema. It really makes you feel better as a parent to be told you are doing things right. Over the years, I have had up and down experiences with Laurelwood. Here are my pros and cons: PROS: Friendly staff Great nurses Docs come highly recommended CONS: Our doctor is lovely but I feel like she's given me very limited options over the years to treat my sons autism and severe ADHD. Talking to other mothers, I felt like there were other options but when I brought them up, she always suggested staying the route. She referred us to a psychiatrist once but that was not a good experience. I once asked her if we could consult with another doctor in the practice because I had seen several articles he and others had written about his expertise with autistic kids. She took offense to my question and said she was the "autism expert" at Laurelwood. I did not like that and considered it to be very unprofessional. If your child is well and has no disabilities, I could see why you think this practice is perfect. However, if your child is sick on a regular basis or has disabilities, I would suggest finding a pediatrician who is open to trying everything possible to help your child.
