After we attended the Sawdust, we went for a stroll and came across this art event. Again this day, was free for LA residents with ID, and the kind lady at the entrance offered me free entrance as well, so I could join my sisters. This was an indoor event with interactive artists available in their booths. I actually enjoyed this event more than the Sawdust! I loved most of the artwork displayed here. One of our last stops was with an artist whose main focus was the beautiful and majestic hummingbirds. Being hummingbird lovers we purchased a few pieces to display on our walls. Food, beverages, restrooms, and small gift shop were available on the premises. Friendly service all around . I would definitely come back! read more

After visiting the Sawdust Art Festival, we strolled over to the Laguna Art A Fair that was about a 5-10 minute walk. We were stopped by one of the friendly artists just outside the entrance who informed us that on this particular day it was free to enter for LA County residents as well. Make sure you visit the site before visiting for possible free days. They had a band playing when we walked in and it was less crowded than the Sawdust Festival. We strolled through the area where most booths had the artists available and wiling to engage. We stopped to talk to and look at the artwork of an artist who focused on hummingbirds. My sister purchased three prints. Each sister receiving one. They were beautifully painted and adorable. We found that we liked the artwork here more than the Sawdust Festival. Saturday, August 17, 2024: We enjoyed being here so much and looked forward to eating at 777 that we returned. The sweet young lady at the ticket booth was so warm, welcoming, and graciously thanked me for my military service. Unfortunately, there was an event at 777 so we were bummed! Anyhow, it gave us a chance to browse the displays and make some purchases. We enjoyed listening to Caravana' s music. Their superb vocalist has such a smooth & soothing voice and she was surrounded by talented musicians. I posted photos of some of the artists' names but not their work out of respect. So much talent was showcased. I bought a macrame creation in teal that caught my eye by an artist named Martine Plant. I loved the paintings of Monique Straub. Loved the whimsical art of Bitchinstuff by Bob Sember created from recycled parts. Too many wonderful artists to list! Check out their website for a list. How I wish I could buy more but my bank account has its limits! The staff is incredibly friendly and are so happy to see you there to support the event and the artists! Go check it out now. This was a spontaneous night out in Laguna Beach. We decided to do the preview art a-fair. So many incredible talented artists over 100 artists : Pottery, jewelry, gorgeous canvases, metalwork, iron, wood work, glass this beautiful art show had had everything. They do have a few restaurants in the area. This is so worthwhile to go to. It's amazing to see all the local and some not so local artists display all their talent. We enjoyed live music and some free flowing sips and Nibbles. Just a beautiful night out in Laguna Beach. If you have the opportunity to Peru's some of these artists, they will be available until August 30th read more

The art and the artists are top notch. They deserve 5 stars. What doesn't deserve 5 stars is the security's lack of customer service. The security here seriously think of themselves as Nazi police! My friend tried to take a picture of a tree and he was practically tackled by the security. Today, I tried to use the bathroom in the back and the tall older security dude practically threatened to arrest me over it. He was very confrontational when I told him I was just trying to use the bathroom and he said "How would you even know there is a bathroom back here?" Because I've used it duh. And then he said "You said this was your first time here." And I have non idea why he said, I had never even spoken to him before and I said no such thing. I can see why this place is empty. Get rid of your security team or retrain them to be nice to the guests who support the art. I've purchased various items and spent over $1,000 here. But this place gets a thumbs down on customer service. They need to learn a lesson from Marcy in the back, she knows how to treat people with kindness and respect. read more

What an amazing afternoon! We had the best time wandering though the aisles. Laura Ross's pink elephants intrigued us, as did Bob Ross's photography of his African adventures. Recommend a visit. Artists hosting their art in this cool venue next door to the sawdust festival. It's almost the same as the sawdust festival except you don't get sawdust and wood chips in your shoes It's a short walk through but glad we checked out. We saw some really cool 3 dimensional glass art pieces and animal carvings set into frames. Wine and their famous margaritas were pretty good too. There's a restaurant inside called Trivoli. We didn't try it but the courtyard was really quaint and pretty. They have live music and it was fun to relax and take in the entertainment. It was really hot today and this place had a wonderful breeze that traveled through the tent top venue. I don't know why this event isn't part of the Sawdust Festival since it's almost exactly same. Oh well, we enjoyed it just the same. We took the Laguna Beach Trolley (which is totally fun and runs until 11pm) to avoid the always challenging task of finding parking. read more

This is the best of the three festivals in the area during the summer. Over 100 artists with a wide variety of price ranges to meet every budget. The artists are very friendly. Fully paved and full of fans, breezes and talented artists. Just wish I had the money to buy a few things. It costs about $9 just to get in, but we got in free with our Pageant of the Masters tickets. Honestly I don't think I'd pay specifically to come in here, but its nice to look around since it's free for us. When I move, I can definitely see coming back here to find things for the new place. Its not very big, depending on how much you like to linger and ponder, I'd say an hour is more than sufficient. There is a little restaurant in here called Seven7Seven or something like that. Not a bad spot to relax with a drink. I did not try the food. It doesn't seem to be listed on Yelp. Art A Fair is the youngest of the 3 art festivals (Sawdust Festival and Festival of Arts) that run concurrently during the summer months in Laguna Beach. Unlike its older sister, the Sawdust Festival, for artists to exhibit and sell their pieces at Art A Fair, they need to pass a jury of judges. So that basically means the artwork will on average be more expensive than what you'll find at the Sawdust. The artists are also from all over the world, not just limited to Laguna Beach, so its more international in scope. There are about 100 plus vendors, so its just half the size of the Sawdust. However, what it lacks in size, Art A Fair has something that both Sawdust and Festival of Arts: the Tivoli Terrace restaurant (also known as Tivoli Too!). I did a separate review of the Tivoli Terrace restaurant. The restaurant ambiance alone is worth the price of admission which is $7.00. Unlike the other festivals, if you pay the admission price, you end up getting a season pass which is good for future visits for that summer. In that sense, it is a better deal money wise compared to the more popular Sawdust. While my bf and I agreed that we liked the variety of artwork in Sawdust more, we actually ended up liking some specific artworks more in Art A Fair. So keep that in mind when comparing the festivals since art is subjective and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Older children and teenagers might enjoy Art A Fair, but I don't think it will keep a young child entertained. For parking, I recommend going to the designated city lot that offers free bus trolley service to and from the festival grounds. The cost of parking is $7.00 read more

This was my first time attending the fair. It was the second to the last day and admission was free. There was some really great things to look at. A lot of unique and beautiful pieces of art. And quite a bit of variety everything from paintings to pottery to jewelry. There was some pretty incredible stuff and a number of things I considered buying. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere where you can simply walk around and browse without feeling pressure to buy. There was a band playing which lent a festive air to the experience. We ended up buying some jewelry from Bob Johnson and I can't say enough good things about our experience with him! He ended up helping us fix the necklace I had worn from home (that I had been wearing for two days cause the clasp was stuck). Since he had some jewelry tools my boyfriend asked if he thought he could get it off and Bob took care of it and even packed it in a little bag for me so I could wear the necklace I bought from him home instead. Both pieces of jewelry we bought are beautiful. All the staff at the fair were friendly and pleasant from the guy at the front ticket booth (who informed us admission was free) to the security at the entrance and exit to the cashier who rang up our purchases. Overall fun experience and I will consider coming back next year (and I'm thinking I'll bring my parents to Sawdust this year) Oh parking is a pain depending on the time of day but it is Laguna Beach in the summer so that is to be expected. read more

Had a great time visiting Art-A-Fair before we headed to the Pageant of the Masters last Saturday night. The cool thing is that if you have a ticket to the Pageant, you get a free VIP season pass to Art-A-Fair which would really rock if you lived close by. So Art-A-Fair is basically a showing of a myriad of artists from all over. They are set up in small booths where the artist can chat with the guests or work on new projects and display their artwork. You'll find plenty of paintings and photography, but also some really unique sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, etc. It's a great selection of different types of art and much of it was very beautiful and inspiring! This is not just an exhibition, but everything is also for sale, but it's art and it's pricey. But, it was a really gorgeous afternoon and everyone there was so nice. We had a great time wandering through the stalls. Inside you'll also find a small restaurant, restrooms and there is a small stage set up where, while we were there, a young lady was singing. It's just a nice vibe wandering around and hearing the music and seeing the beautiful pieces. If you enjoy this sort of thing, you'll like it here. I believe that regular price is $7 & $4 for seniors and military, but I might not have it exactly right. The show is ending for this year on the weekend, unfortunately, but they have it every year for two months in the summer. read more

Over 100 juried artists with a wide range of mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen/ink/pencil, glass, ceramics, jewelery, photography, digital, mixed media, sculpture, fabric, wood and more). There was art for every budget (prints and originals). Even if you don't come to buy, it's a great place to feel inspired by all of the creativity and talent -- Van Gogh would be impressed. This place inside the Tivoli Too courtyard is jam-packed with artists and different creative creations. All types of things can be seen at this particular art festival. We are fortunate to know the newest and upcoming photographer from Laguna Beach area who had a booth at the festival (see booth B34). The booths are in here tightly so its best enjoyed on a non weekend as it can easily be over crowded.On opening night we wandered thru this place and still havn't seen every booth we had hoped to see. The amount of work here really will astound anyone. Everything from furniture, glass, vases, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photography and tons more. Its a sight to be seen and worth every moment to explore. $5 for wine or beer at the few bars within are heavily poored and friendly. Anyone can enjoy it, even on a date night. read more

They should not charge for this event. Extremely uncomfortable, there is no air at all in this place, with the canvas top, it feels like a sauna with overpriced art. We have always enjoyed going to the Art-A-Fair and having a nice dinner but this time was different. The art was a pleasure. The restaurant that was there, "Tivoli Too" closed, and the replacement "Seven 7 Seven" although still having the great ambiance, has nothing worth eating, no servers (you have to go up the stairs and order from a window) I would have settled for a burger just to get me through, but they were out of burgers hotdogs and fries and we were left with a choice of premade sandwiches and salads, bleh... I hope they fix this huge problem. We ended up going two doors down to a Vietnamese place "Another Kind Vietnamese Cuisine" that was quite good. read more

I fully understand why artists make the kind of work they sell at Art-a-Fair. It's a tough business, and to actually earn a living and pay the bills, they have to make their work popular for a mainstream audience. If you don't mind looking at paintings of Italian landscapes, cats and ocean scenes over and over than you'll have fun at this gallery. There are so many pieces packed into such a small space it is a little claustrophobic. I can fully imagine the wealthy OC art-goers who will attend this festival to shop for something to hang in that corner by the breakfast nook. Like I said, I understand why this is fueled by supply and demand, but I didn't say I enjoy the results. It's pleasant, doesn't make you think too hard and doesn't offend anyone. Someone gave me these tickets so I can't really complain, however, this isn't the kind of art experience I was looking for. read more

This venue was a bit more quiet and calm compared to the Sawdust Festival. Many of the booths were unmanned, which allowed me to view all the artists works without the pressure of the artist trying to get me to buy something. I treated this place more like an art museum and then found myself thoroughly enjoying the art. Ok, another reason was I knew I couldn't afford anything here, so it was strictly "look but don't buy". They have periodic musicians come in and play which gave it a nice ambiance. There's a restaurant inside, but I didn't understand why people would pay an admission fee to come in and pay for a meal? Ok, back to the art...they were amazing and I really had my eye on some of the ceramic pieces. Since these artists come from all over the world, they tastes exhibited different cultures and styles.
