It was especially great for dogs -- there were so many happy pups out enjoying the trail, and the atmosphere felt super friendly and relaxed. A huge plus was how shaded most of the trail is, which made the walk comfortable even on a warmer day. The lake views along the way were beautiful and peaceful, and there are plenty of large grassy areas throughout the park that are perfect for picnics, tossing a ball around, or simply lounging outside with a book. The park itself is also very well maintained with lots of parking, clean restrooms, and helpful amenities. I also liked seeing the workout stations scattered along the trail for anyone wanting to turn their walk into a little fitness moment.

One thing about Cary is you can count on them to have clean trails. This one here trumps most Raleigh trails. This trail features lush greenways and breathtaking views. When you enter the Crabtree lake area the sunset is amazing to witness. The trail seems super safe as it doesn't really feature many dark areas. Most of the Black Creek trail is in the back yards of homes. The trail is ideal for walker and runners. Its also great for bikers. I have witnessed hover-boards on the trails but i'm sure they shouldn't be out there as no motor vehicles are allows.

There are plenty of slides, swings, and even a sand area, which my grandson absolutely loves. He could spend hours there and still not be ready to leave. It's one of those places where you can just let them play, explore, and be kids without overthinking it. Now, I will say when there are soccer games going on, parking can be a bit of a challenge. You might have to circle around a little and be patient, but you'll find a spot eventually. And once you do, it's completely worth it. Overall, this park is a win for us every time. Absolute WORST experience I've had in a very, very long time. After being checked in, my family…read more(three children and 3 adults) went down to get our floats, got in the water and started to float (no staff was there to help or assist like any other rafting or float place I've been), the staff said it would take about 5 hours (it took 6) - the wind was against us that day and I had to essentially pull us the entire 2 miles - all the while being blown back in the opposite direction. There was brush all along the bottom of the river slowing everyone down. When we finally got to the end, we had to ask someone that happened to be fishing where the exit ramp was. No signage, no staff to help, but a missed call from the front office asking where we were. When we finally got up the ramp, I called and they seemed annoyed and surprised we were 20 minutes after the last group. The driver was quiet and acted mad that he had to come get us, upon check out the lady up front said we had to pay a fee because we were 20 mins "late" (no mention of this in person or anywhere physically visible) - how in the heck can we help the river being low and the wind working against us? $300 plus $60 late fee turned our trip into a nightmare. They need staff in the water guiding/assisting, which they don't have, in case something does happen. Main takeaway - DO NOT GO HERE. It's terrible and the staff seemed annoyed that they even had to be there. JUDGING FROM THE REVIEWS, THEY DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK - actually scan thru and read them, but read the RESPONSES from Cape Fear River Adventures as well - GO TO "LOWEST" up top under "SORT BY" and read them ALL - these are normally buried so far down that people don't see them. Many reviews are super similar and it's definitely obvious that they don't take criticism well AT ALL - keep that in mind too! STAY AWAY. This place gives Lillington a bad name.

Bottom line: Crabtree Creek Greenway is another nice resource provided by the town of Morrisville…read moreto use. Well maintained walkway and bonus that the railroad underpass extension is completed to connect it to Hatcher Creek Greenway, as well as a way to go across a busy road without crossing traffic. I am a fan! The Deets: I have enjoyed walking along Crabtree Creek Greenway recently, with using the greenway/parks resources that the Town of Morrisville provide more so during the pandemic time. It's a nice almost mile and a half greenway path maintained by the town and mainly going beside Cedar Fork District Park with all of its fields and going under the North Carolina Railroad train trestle/bridge so that it links up with Hatcher Creek Greenway in the west. If continuing on in the east, it eventually links up with Cary's greenway that goes on to Lake Crabtree and even Umstead State Park. The path appears to be well maintained by the Town of Morrisville, and well marked with signage as well as provided with benches along the way. There are dog waste stations provided also. Heads up that it is beside part of the park that has the disc golf course, be on the lookout for those flying discs. I like that they completed the railroad underpass section in 2020 with the completion of the new railroad bridge, makes it very nice to use coming in from Hatcher Creek Greenway for an extended walking path. It also links up a way to get to things on the other side of Hwy 54/Chapel Hill Rd without having to actually cross that busy roadway. I enjoy this resource provided by the town and realize it is a great way for the town to give back to the community with a good usable resource.

I've done at least 2 of their trails with the last being the Pott's Branch Trail. Pott's Branch is one of their easy trails at 1.3 miles. I recommend you wear tight/well fitting sneakers or boots as there are a lot of roots on the trails and you don't want to slip. Umstead does a great job of marking the trails and there were even paper maps available.

We rented two paddle boards and had a not-so-great experience. We had no issues making the…read morereservations, finding the location, and opening the lockers. Unfortunately our lockers were missing key parts, including fins, ankle straps, and paddles. We contacted the support number, and someone responded quickly. He gave us codes to spare equipment lockers, but we had to go into 3 different lockers to piece together all the parts we needed. The main issue was the paddles. They have 2-3 parts that snap together, and most of the parts in the spare lockers were not compatible with each other. We spent 40 minutes trying to cobble together pieces to make two usable paddles. In the end, the guy extended our reservation for an hour, which was nice. On the water, we had no issues with the boards. One major point to note: the website says (in multiple places) that the pumps are electric. They are NOT. They are hand pumps. I don't think we'll rent from here again.
