Stayed here for one night during a Northwest Michigan nature getaway. Jan and Jim are both super hip kind folks that gladly take care of your every need or want. Jan was very accommodating with my vegan lifestyle and made me a delicious breakfast. The rooms are all decorated different, with lots of original and traditional Victorian decor. Lots of opportunity to learn about the history of the home, the prior owners, and the town. Plenty of literature. The sunroom is fantastic! Some of it is geared specifically to Manistee, yet a fair amount seems more history in general. The space doesn't seem that big, even though it is 4 rooms. However they have packed every square inch with artifacts. There really is a little bit of everything. From Cigar Displays to Elvis Presley. From a Victorian Sleigh to an old Drug Pharmacy. There's things from the 1880's all the way to the 1980's. This really is a must stop when visiting Manistee. I spent nearly an hour just looking at everything thing. I went around twice, because there was so much I missed things the 1st time around. My only minor complaint is: I wish there had been more directly about Manistee and especially the great fire. Most of the artifacts may be from the area, but it mostly doesn't tell about the area. Andrew staircases and…read moreladies As with many towns and cities, the first hint of a public library in Manistee started in around 1885 when an enlightened group of women decided the town needed a place where the citizens of the town could have public access to books. So they just sort of started storing the small collection of books wherever there was room but realized a more permanent location was needed. So in around 1903 the women get serious and managed to get funds for a library from the famous philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. By 1905 the grand library was open for business. The library was designed by the famous architect G Harvey in a cool Beaux Arts Classicism style. The building featured a grand and massive entrance as well as elaborate staircases and other interior detailing. The library of course has changed a lot throughout the decades and now has the latest computers and digitalized materials. However it still features the elegance and aesthetics of the original design. The library has friendly and knowledgeable people working there and a very logical and easy to use system to locate books or other materials. Lots of places to sit and read or just loiter around. A wonderful library that has a unique appearance and a spacious interior that allows the visitor to be comfortable while conducting business or research.

It is well-arranged, and reflects all of the layout improvements that Meijer is working to implement at other locations. Most importantly, the store is always clean.
