Made reservations in Spring. Drove to Chelan on Sunday. Found the forecast for Monday and the next several days was 100/upper 90s. With wife's asthma and a-fib, pretty sure her cardiologist would advise against 4+ hours on the lake in a n on-air conditioned boat. Called Sunday to check on changing to a day later in the week, and was told they were booked solid. I then request ed a refund, expecting a cancellation penalty (which I was OK with. Told nope, but they would put a credit on our account. We're both in our mid 70s, and the chances of driving over 300 miles just for a boat trip are slim to none. I'm sure with a week totally booked that they managed to find another paying customer to take our place on Monday. So thanks to this greedy company who would rather we placed my wife's health and life in jeprady than issue us even a partial refund. read more

Friends and I took the Lady of The Lake Express tour up valley in the lake to Stehekin. It was wonderful. Friendly courteous staff and helped answer all of our questions. Once in Stehekin we took a 30 minute narrated bus tour to Rainbow falls. Saw the one room schoolhouse still in the works today. It was a great day trip and well worth the money for the incredible water, mountain and snow views! read more

We did the Lady of the Lake for a one day round trip. We went to Stehekin. I am so glad we found this gem. Expensive but we enjoyed it so much. I, specially enjoyed the off season crowed. Our boat and our bus tour in Stehekin was not full at all. In fact, many of the people on the boat were actual residents of the area. We had an outstanding time! Our bus tour was excellent. We walked to the falls and then stopped at the bakery. Yes, it was closed for the season but the bakery owners left some of the pastries out for anyone to stop by and purchase what was left. In our drive we saw a momma deer with her 2 fawns. Then we stopped to see the salmon fishing up the river - what a treat! We want to come back and stay overnight. The customer service was great on the boat and at Stehekin. I wish i could afford living here haha It is one of this places that i did not want to write a review because i want to keep it a secret. read more

On a quest to check out the beauty that is Lake Chelan, Trip Advisor directed us to this boat outing that was considered a must seen venture. For about $60 a person you can choose to take the express boat to Stehekin or the standard that ranges from 2 hours to a 4 hour ride. Be sure to get the docking area early, as this is SUPER POPULAR tourist attraction - we were there about 30 minutes early and we still were struggling to find a parking spot to leave our car. Because they don't allow you to print out your own tickets - you have to wait on a long line to get to the counter to pick up your tickets.. the process is pretty old school and obsolete. When you get on the boat - based on your preference you have to pretty much play musical chairs with everybody to get the best spots on the top deck and be exposed to the sun. The ride itself was super smooth and the views were breath taking - tons of blue water and majestic mountains that remind you of the beauty those that live in the Pacific Northwest speaks of. This tour isn't a guided one where the boat crew narrate throughout your ride but they do point out some specific areas. I highly recommend you bring some stuff to do - like board games, cards, a book, and snacks as on the boat you are forced to use cash only to purchase any drinks/ snacks and you will lose service/ wifi as you get further out into the water! read more

We took the boat trip from Chelan to Stehekin on the Cascade Flyer plan on 8/2/2023. When we checked in we were told the return boat has an engine problem and is replaced by a much slower boat which takes 2 hours longer to return. That means we will return to Chelan 2 hours late at 5 pm instead of 3 pm. We had plan to have dinner in a restaurant in Seattle. The change makes it impossible. The restaurant would be closing by the time we get there. We ended up eating leftover in the hotel. At the check in, I asked for a compensation because the faster boat has a higher price than the slower boat. The woman told me they would not compensate us. I don't know if in the fine print somewhere they are allow to do this. It looks like a breach of contract. read more

While it was nice to explore the whole of Lake Chelan on a boat but my experience was just ok. The staff was all friendly, although they were not proactive in customer service but no one was rude. They said they reduced the capacity to half due to COVID. However the main cabin was pretty full with ppl seating row after row in a confined space... This truly worries me, I was also quite annoyed the staff didn't do anything when there were a few people not wearing their mask in the cabin. Spending 5 hours on a folding chair isn't the most comfortable ride. read more

Took the express for our stay at Stehekin. I booked our tickets about 2 months in advanced for a late July trip. The lady on the phone made it easy and actually I switched from Chalen to Field's point with no problem. It was pretty crowded both ways but my family and I were seated both times and it was a pretty quick boat ride from Field's point. Both times the boat was pretty on point with schedule. The people working on the boat are really nice and helpful. They do pile the luggage so I would suggest you hold on to anything breakable or baked goodies you don't want getting smashed. I will say the sitting area near the bathroom stinks super badly, I would never be able to stay in that area for more than 5 minutes. We sat in the outer parts where there was plenty of air flow. Overall, you don't have too many options of transportation when visiting Stehekin, so the Lady of the Lake is a decent and reliable way to get there. read more

Took our first trip to stihekin about the lady of the lake express. It is a lengthy trip even on the express boat that said it's very scenic so bring binoculars. The caption and crew were professional showing good safe boating skills... the caption was helpful with insightful history or the lake and region. After a couple stops and a few hours your in the small Town of stehekin. Aboard the express you get one hour for one of 3 items.. while at port.. bakery, waterfall, restaurant/store... bakery and waterfall you get to drive a little seeing a few of the cabins and camp sites.. after seeing this town I plan on camping some time.. it's just so Prestine! read more

I rode on the Lady Express & not the Lady II because I didn't really need the 90 minute layover in Stehekin. The Lady Express has a 60 minute layover, or you can go up on the Express and come down on the Lady II to get a 3 hour layover. You're more that welcome to stay longer wherever your ultimate destination may be though. The rates are subject to change or fuel surcharge depending on what time of year you go. On the Lady Express there is upstairs and downstairs seating. The upstairs is outside and exposed to the wind. There is a galley or food bar downstairs as well as a unisex bathroom. There are large windows to view as you travel up to your destination. The Express makes less stops so if you're in a hurry of want to get to Stehekin or Field's Point earlier in the day, take the Express. There are about 150 seats total and on the day I went, the boast was maybe half full. You are supposed to book ahead by visiting the website & then they send an email to see if they have availability and if they confirm there are open seats you then have to call and book over the phone. This was easy to do, but it seems like it would be easier if they just had a calendar on the website as to which days there is still availability and you can just search availability & book at the same time. The schedule for both of the boats is on their website, so check that before you go. It was a smooth two and a half hour ride to Stehekin and the captain seemed very adept at manuveuring the boat. The crew was pleasant as well. They were like grungy sea pirates or anything. I will say if you get sea sick easily make sure you take your Dramamine or whatever so you don't throw up. Also, there is no wifi and there isn't any cell service the closer you get to Stehekin. There aren't any roads that lead to Stehekin so this is the only way to get there other than a boat-plane. There were a lot of hikers and backpackers on the boat. A lot of people go up and hike in/on/and around the Pacific Crest Trail or any of the wonderful trails up around Stehekin. It was $61 in July 2014 round trip. I went up and back in one day so I didn't have to pay for parking. I thought that was actually quite nice for a 6 hour boat ride on a nice sunny day on Lake Chelan. I enjoyed the commentary by the captain as well. I actually learned some things about the depth of Lake Chelan and how much water is in the Lake and how some of the settlements around the lake grew from settlers or Lutherans or other people and about the Forest Service. Beautiful ride and I loved the captain's occasionally audible narration, but they dropped our stuff off at fields point instead of chelan. When we arrived in chelan and asked where our stuff was, one of the staff said "oh yea, that guy was unloading a whole bunch of stuff at field's point." Sorry, "that guy"???? What guy??? They just let any rando handle other people's luggage? What if "that guy" decided to just run off with our stuff? The captain muttered a barely audible apology and that was pretty much all we got. They said the stuff would be there waiting on the dock. No offer of help, nobody waiting to make sure our stuff didn't get jacked. We had to drive about 25 miles out of our way to fix their mistake. read more

If you want a scenic ride up the lake and back in a day for $40, the LLII is for you. The staff was reasonably friendly and the boat reasonably comfortable. It was fun. The bathrooms are funky - one of the two was not working on the day I rode the boat. The snack bar options are very limited and they only take cash or checks. The seating is comfortable but not overly roomy on parts of the boat. On the day I went, there weren't many people so it was fine. For $40 I don't think you can complain. 8 hours of boat riding at about $5 an hour! It's something I would do again if I want to go up-lake. It's not super special or fantastic but it's only a ferry ride so not much expected beyond A-OK! read more

Lake...the final frontier. These are the voyages of the passenger ship Lady. Its continuing mission: to transport passengers to remote parts of the North Cascades. To seek out new lifestyles beyond the reach of civilization. To boldly go where you can't believe anyone has gone before. And yet, to do it in remarkable comfort. As a captain who has all too often quartered my guests in cramped circumstances (don't get me started on the lack of space in space! #irony), I appreciate the pleasure of traveling with some room to maneuver. On our up-lake journey to Stehekin on the Lady of the Lake II, our entire crew luxuriated in the opportunity to spread out across a couple of tables, sun ourselves in the fresh air up top or in the bow of the ship, or (in the case of our first officer), to pace the entire ship in circles. Yes, she's slower than an orbital freighter travelling at half-impulse, but what the Lady II lacks in speed she more than makes up for in atmosphere. Utterly unpretentious, but a lovely ride. What brings this down to three stars? The Lady Express. Admittedly, those of us who flit across the galaxy at warp speed are hardly in a position to criticize a boat that calls a 2+ hr-journey an "express". But the misfortune of landing on a very crowded run back down the lake meant that two hours on the Lady Express felt twice as long as nearly four hours on the Lady II. (Starfleet's temporal physics team is already hard at work on explaining this discrepancy.) Stuck inside the cramped seats of the Lady Express, the tiny breeze blowing in from a couple of open windows was hardly enough to relieve the heat. Yet the small open deck upstairs was too jammed to allow a relocation. It is my strong recommendation that Starfleet direct any future personnel to restrict their Stehekin travel to the Lady II. At least until we install a transporter. read more

I went on a trip to Stehekin on a cultural event with an Indian Tribe from Western Washington. We hiked over the mountains into Stehekin and stayed for a few days. We took the Lady Express out to Fields Point. Before we boarded the luggage was loaded by the crew. A gentleman who was not in my group was asking the guy loading the stuff to check on his bag to make sure it wasn't getting smashed because he had bread in his bag. The guy started coping an attitude and said no I'm not going to and you don't have access to your stuff until you get off. The other guy was like hey you don't need to treat me like this and the guy said "I'm the captain of this boat and I can do whatever I want. Flash forward to Fields Point, before we docked the crew came over the load speaker and asked for people to help unload. After everything was unloaded a passenger went to get back on and one of the workers asked him for a ticket and he said he was just helping unload. The guy said well once you get off your ticket is invalid but let him back on. As we were gathering our stuff (we had a large group) another member recognized a pack and we were standing on the dock questioning if it was ours or not and this lady crew member started yelling at us to leave it alone if it's not ours. Turns out it was one of our elders packs. My experience with them was absolutely terrible and the only reason I'm giving them two stars is that 1 they got us there safely and 2 it didn't take as long as taking the slower boat. read more

Beautiful ride, the captain and a couple of the older crew are major grumps. One year my camping bag was unloaded at the wrong stop Prrince Creek). The next day I asked the captain of the boat to please look for my bag on the way back to Chelan, and even though it say on the rocky shore all weekend, he never bothered to bring it to me. It had my sleeping bag and food in it. Another year as I was boarding the boat from Moore Pt to Stehekin with my daughter, he called me out over the loud speaker, saying I was trying to board without a ticket, even though I was traveling with a troop of boys scouts. This year, my wife was looking out the door to watch my son depart on a hike, and a crew member jabbed her in the back to move aside. They're nice enough when giving the tour guide speeches over the intercom, and when they're trying to sell the rainbow falls tour (well worth it), just seriously lacking on interpersonal skills. The younger people selling concessions and helping out are super nice. Hopefully one of them will learn how to drive the boat and put the older ones out of their clear misery. read more

The slow boat takes four hours and the fast boat takes two hours. The location is totally worth the 6 hours being on a boat though. Stehekin is totally pristine with 312 foot waterfall (Rainbow Falls) and a decent restaurant. One thing I wish they offered is a longer layover on the fast boat. Because the fast boat only runs once a day, you only have a 1 hour layover on the fast boat. In order to really appreciate Stehekin you have to take the fast boat up and the slow boat back to get a 3 hour layover. read more

I will always have fond memories of this boat service. Not necessarily for the boat, and staff, but mainly because it means I'm on the waters of beautiful Lake Chelan. There are several boat times to choose from, and with this service you can see the Lake in a very unique and beautiful way. You can travel the 50+ miles of the long sliver of a lake. It can be made a day trip, or one can spend a night in Stehikin, or one can work in a hike (http://www.yelp.com/biz/chelan-lakeshore-trail-chelan). One can purchase some basic food and drinks (they have beer). The boat I was on had two levels. There are seats inside and a covered area on top, but if you can, stand outside, in the sun, and absorb the beauty. read more

We got to the dock the Saturday before Memorial day and bought tickets. They're not overly cheap, but if you buy round-trip up front you save a few dollars (your only other way back is by plane, really). A bit of a surprise was paying for parking--you have to pay for a spot in their lot for the nights you'll be in Stehekin. Makes sense, but I wasn't really expecting that. And I think they lock it at night, which is nice. We loaded up from the car and walked our packs onto the boat and were immediately scolded and told to get back off by a woman arranging packs by the stern. The majority of people were on the boat, there was no employee on the dock, and the walkway was clear--how would we have known that boarding was not done this way? The curtness was a little unwarranted. Once we were all back on the dock we showed our tickets and walked back on the boat. There are two boats to take--Lady of the Lake I and II--II goes directly to Stehekin and is both faster and more expensive by about $10. The non-express makes a few stops, and if you're hiking the lakeshore trail to Stehekin or just getting off at Prince Creek, you'll want the slow boat (which puts you at Stehekin Landing about 90 minutes later). The ride was pleasant since the day was nice, and there was coffee and a few snacks to buy (cash only, I think) down in the cabin. Overall a really fun way to get to a town/hike! read more

it actually is a pretty nice tour with amazing views and most workers there are quite friendly and tell you all you need to know about the boat. the reason for this type of review is because of one of the employees at work when riding Lady Of The Lake 2, this blonde haired woman (definitely not a lady) by the name of Cece was being quite rude to her coworker. On the few rides back and forth that I took with my family I would sadly have to say because of her this boat would not be the most child appropriate. This young lad she had as a coworker was shouted at many times, had been called names like retard and idiot in front of costumers, and made this poor guy stand the whole day while she sat on her phone ignoring me multiple times. she was also quite rude to me when I asked to buy some drinks and she treated me like I was bothering her, while she flirted with a sailor. I would not recommend friends going on this boat until this employee learns how to be a lady and more mature. read more

It has only enclosed seating no social distancing or precautions on the other ferry Review of Stehekin This review is only for the Stekekin ferry trip. We left Fields Landing at 1:00 over the 4th of July weekend and returned from Stehekin at 10:40. Besides the cost being expensive with the add ons for bringing our dog and 2 bikes, the boat was comfortabe. The 2 young men were compedent . They were pleasant , loaded and unloaded all the baggage and did a great job driving and docking the boat. The only problem was that they did nothing for helping with lowering the risk of spreading Covid-19. They did not wear a mask. They handled all the luggage with no use of hand sanitizer. All the passagers (inside a nearly full ferry) wore masks except 2. A women asked the workers about mask wearing and stated it was required in Washington State. The ferry driver replied that wearing a mask was not a law and he thought people should do what they were comfortable doing. read more

The view during the boat ride was really beautiful but not worth the time, specially the non-express boat was more painful ride. Other than the boat ride, there is almost nothing in Stehekin, specially for family with kids. You may want to spend some time if you are into hiking though. Another big pain while in Stehekin is extremely limited transportation options. You are stuck with one bus service to take you for a tour within around an hour covering 3-4 points. Overall it was waste of time in Stehekin waiting for the transportation option for 4 hours and had bus trip for an hour. Net net it was not worth the price and time. read more

do not hire for private events. the people are unreasonable and are total pricks to work with. ours as if you are a total burden to give then business. we have hired them for the past 6 years and the service has gotten so bad that we will never use them again. it's a shame, since having a fun annual party on the lake was a tradition for a lot of people. now we will find another venue that will be more enjoyable. the captain was a rude ahole and the organizer was, and has been a total.... you know what. read more

takes way to long to make the journey up to stehekin. then once there we were rushed along in every respect (another bus $10) up to the falls and a quick (and i mean quick) stop at a bakery which had lovely outside seating but we were too rushed to get any food and eat there! then back to the very long boat ride back to chelan. beautiful scenery, but an entire day spent, seeing the same thing coming and going. read more

The boat was not comfortable. If you sit down stairs you can barely see out the windows. The stairs seating is folding chairs that are not comfortable. The outside deck was ok. It was a warm day and the scenery was beautiful. The trip was too long and when you get to Stehekin there is nothing to do, but eat a quick lunch of not so good burgers. Information said that you could have lunch on board if you choose. Do not take this option. Choices are store bought muffins, microwaved campbell's soup, mac and cheese, need I go on. And of course this is at an extra charge. This is in comparison to a cruise you can take in Portland, Or on the Willamette that in includes a gourmet meal and a very nice vessel with a bar. The view is more of the city but beautiful and interesting. The cost is only $44 for a 2 hour cruise compared to $40.50 for a boring 6 hour cruise, no food included. I will never do it again or recommend it. If the trip was shorter and it was a nice boat with food included I would consider it. The scenery was beautiful, but much of it the same the whole trip so it got boring. read more
