We had an amazing two night stay at a 4 bedroom villa right on the water. They were extremely accommodating giving early check in and complimentary late checkout. The game room was a huge hit with my kids along with the pool, sauna, and hot tub. The place was really nice, super clean, and had everything we needed. Everything we wanted to do was within a 5 minute drive - so central! We came in the middle of November and it was the perfect escape for my kids long weekend break. We were even able to see the northern lights right out our back door reflecting on the lake! Would love to come back in the summer. read more

Lake Darling Resort - Amazing game room at Lake Darling resort - Resorts Near Me - Alexandria, Minnesota

We had a two night stay during the off season and had the resort to ourselves. The cabins are all new and right on the water. The pool, hot tub, sauna were like new. What a great idea to put a gathering space and game room above the store/office area. The group made great use. Noticed two separate sand beaches and wish we were there when the docks were out. They were just getting things out for the season so a little problem with the grill, but after a text message they showed up and addressed the issue. Lake Darling is a pretty lake and part of the chain in Alex. Brought three other couples from outside the area and they really liked the resort and activities in Alex. Hiking trail was just a block away and it gets you almost anywhere in Alex. Firewood purchased came with a little starter kit and they provided a good qty with large pieces. Property is well cared for and large space between cabin and water. Definitely would come again. read more

We stayed here with friends - Moms and teen girls - for a hockey weekend and we loved this place. Clean well appointed and modern units. Clear instructions for check in. Beautiful lake with easy access to everything in Alex. We cooked our meals and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The kids used the kayaks and the game room. Awesome alternative to hotels. 16 people from our family age 3-62 stayed at this small lake resort (the resort is small not necessarily the lake) and had a great time. The accommodations are great--everything you could need for cooking--fully stocked kitchen, large kitchen tables, recycling, close to a bike/walking trail. Close to the beach. check out kayaks or canoes in the office free of charge. They also have a supply of board games and yard games. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the proximity to Alexandria, grocery stores, restaurants, small amusement park with go-karts and mini golf. The kids caught fish off the dock. Small playground area. We rented 2 units--all under one roof for our group of 16. There are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in each unit. There are also washers and dryers. You can rent a pontoon or jet skies from the resort at a reasonable rate. It would be nice if they would rent bikes to ride on the trails and it would be nice if they had a fish cleaning facility. Let me start off by saying I wanted to be as respectful as possible when writing this review therefore it took a couple of days to get to the Point where I felt like I could give a review that I felt was most appropriate. On July 2 we rented a pontoon from the Lake darling pontoon rentals on lake darling in Alexandria Minnesota. If I knew now what I knew then I would have not in 1 million years spent money at that establishment. We reserved our pontoon over the phone two days prior to our rental (which was suppose to be $325 but she charged us $375) It was a game of phone tag from the beginning which is understandable being a seasonal business. On the day of the rental myself and my family got everything ready got to the establishment at the agreed time and proceeded to check in. I was greeted by a young gentleman who was very polite and led me in the Direction in which I needed to be. We had parked outside of the main office hours as I stepped out of my vehicle I was approached by a blonde woman with a major attitude questioning why I was there. She then began to tell me that my car could not be there and that she would have someone park our car over in the overflow parking lot mind you the parking lot has maybe four cars in it with maybe 30 spots open. Once she realized I was the one that rented and pre-paid for our pontoon she then began to head back into the office without giving me any direction to follow her or what I should do so I went into the office. The blonde woman was very rude very impatient and kept implying that I would have to replace the engine if any damages were to occur which was understandable but I could not understand why she would keep repeating that statement. She made me feel as I was inconveniencing her and looked at her staff and said you take a over the rest of this, give them the shallow water conversation I'm going for lunch. She jumped on a golf cart and took off. The young gentleman couldn't be more than 16 was so helpful and polite he had noticed that the pontoon was on the furthest dock and that we had a lot of stuff and offered to use his golf cart to transport everything to the pontoon along with us also. He was very helpful. We enjoyed our day on the lake we gave the children on the boat and experience that they'll never forget along with a good time with family we barely see. This all ended when we returned to the dock at 7 PM. We paid for a full day which would've ended at 8 PM we figured we could pull up let the kids swim while we clean off the pontoon. While approaching the dock the blonde woman came running out of her office as if we were doing something wrong and jumped in the water and started screaming for her staff to come out. Mind you we have an experience pontoon driver we were not doing anything out of the ordinary nor inappropriate. She then began to explain to us that we parked it The opposite direction in which she wanted so we got off of the pontoon and turned the boat for her and then strapped the boat to the doc. She then walked away with a horrible attitude and went back into the office. Mind you at this point she was face-to-face with me and had nothing to say about anything except that the boat was facing the wrong direction. Once we got the boat cleared and clean we still had about 45 minutes before eight. I decided to go into the water with my two-year-old nephew to play for a few before we left. The blonde woman then approached my husband who was sitting on the shore observing us and began to yell at him and tell him that his people stole from her that they came and stole paddles and canoes And that we needed to leave immediately. I could not figure out why she was acting this way unfortunately my husband Felt very uneasy and uncomfortable and asked her to please finish her conversation with his wife which myself was present. My husband is a firm believer in not disrespecting women and he felt that her tone would cause him to get a higher tone also I did not want that interaction, she refused to talk to me at this point. She kept telling us that she had paying customers and that our people needed to leave and that our people were not welcome there. My husband asked what she meant meant by our people and asked her if it had anything to do with the fact that he was Hispanic and our brother and family were black. She snickered at him not denying that that was the reason And continue to tell us we needed to leave. My husband became upset because in this day and age this should not be happening. We did nothing wrong we were also paying customers we were respectful cleaned up after ourselves and did not interfere with anything going on. It is heartbreaking that my family had to deal with such harsh racism. We have 4 children with us ages 17,6 ,4,and 2 along with us 4 adults. My husband began to question her about her accusations of us stealing by mentioning that everybody from our party was right there and never left the boat she continue to say it read more
