There are so many wonderful upgrades we didn't expect - the outdoor chairs and grills were top-notch. Everything was kept up nicely and you can tell the owners take pride in the resort. We enjoyed the wonderful beach and the fun toys they offered (double kayak, water bike and paddleboards). Being right in the bike trail is the icing on the cake! We will be back.

However, I can tell there are improvements in the works compared to even last year which is promising. Pros: *Our group of 8 stayed in the townhomes which were clean and they were in the process of remodeling/staining the outside. *The beach is better than it's ever looked. It's larger, clean and no goose poop. There were two individuals cleaning it while my daughter was playing on the zip line. *Although we weren't here Saturday, I saw they have live music at the outdoor bar most Saturday's. *grounds overall were clean. However, the family who checked out the day we arrived left a large empty wine box on a grill outside our place and that was not cleaned up during our stay. Would love better attention to detail! *new manager-I hope he addresses people's concerns quickly as I read recent reviews and customer service was lacking including lack of response of follow up. He was friendly and seemed attentive! *water park was closed but they were actively working on it while we were here. Ideas for improvement: *Bring back the drink of the day special at the Deck bar-My mom and I always enjoyed trying a new $5 drink in the past each day while at the pool (usually something like a Mai tai, pina colada, etc). *Properly stock the bar -I wanted a pina colada Sunday night and another family member wanted something else and they were out of many things. Bartender was nice but didn't know how to make some drinks including a Mai tai. However the drink I ordered was delicious! Pricey drinks though and our group thought there wasn't much alcohol in them. If you are going to charge fancy bartender prices, have a stocked bar and well trained bartender. Otherwise, lower them. We aren't in New York. $16 for a Long Island in Alexandria is a bit much. *Get new chairs/lounge chairs at the pool. Both the indoor and outdoor pool had broken plastic deck chairs which both felt dangerous and were an eye sore. *Have someone walking the pool areas every hour or two to clean up the pool area. Overall clean but I saw what appeared to be a manager or owner walking by some garbage (wrapper on a table) and some messed up cushions at the outdoor pool area and he didn't do anything. *Clean up the ground under the zip line area. There needs to be new wood chips added and weeds removed. I walked into some stickers (weeks) that were painful. *Fix the windows in the townhome. We would have loved to open the windows at night and they didn't seem to open. *Have a local from Alexandria who is familiar with the resort and its history to help bring this report back to how it used to be. The grounds etc are beautiful but it's lacking what it used to be. *There is a light by the outdoor volleyball courts that has been crooked and bent for years. It's an eye sore, looks like it could fall any minute and shows neglect due to no one fixing it for years. *My dad loves playing mini golf every year but the course is falling apart! It's a wonderful part of the property and I hope it's fixed soon. *in ground sprinklers were watering the sidewalks near our townhome more than the grass. *Lower prices of lodging and food at least until you get back on your feet. Arrowwood is quite high compared to nearby resorts who have beautiful lodging and property.

We were all stunned to see the interior of the place due to the modern design of the cabin. All cabins are full equipped with household items and a kitchen. Two rooms on the main level with queen beds and the loft has two double beds. The cabin can easily accommodate 8-9 people. As for outside, the view is amazing!! Equipped with a charcoal grill, log fire pit (logs were $5 a bundle), picnic table, patio table & chairs. Each cabin comes with their own aluminum fishing boat with oars but we were able to upgrade to add a motor for $45 a day. They also have a fishing pontoons available for $150/day. Our cabin is right next to the small sandy beach where they had a water trampoline, swim raft and water slide. Great place to go fishing. Outside of the rental office there's a gut house for those who want to clean their fishes. It is highly recommended to clean your fishes here to avoid all of the mess in the nice cabins. We've chatted with the owner, Greg. He is pretty cool. We would love to come back for another get together!

We rented 2 cabins for our large family for an 80th birthday, and 4th of July weekend. The staff in…read morethe restaurant, outdoor bar, and maintenance/housekeeping were all very friendly and tried their best to be accommodating. The problem was that the water park is closed for construction. The outdoor pool was closed due to Arrowwood not knowing how to maintain an outdoor pool, and at times their indoor pool and hot tub were closed. On the 4th of July, they also closed the beach and zip line to set up fireworks. Most of the people in our party wanted to swim in the hot weather, but we were unable to due to all of the closures. There was no warning when reservations were made that all of their swim areas would be closed. The management were rude and did not offer any other options for people to use for free. It has significantly lost it's allure and could use some major remodeling.

On a recent stay at Berg's with my family, we all had a great time. The resort is in a good…read morelocation, offering easy access to the lake for swimming, water skiing or fishing. Berg's has fishing boats available for rent at a reasonable rate. The cabins are a bit run down and in need of some basic maintenance. For example, the cabin we stayed in had a leaky toilet (most likely only needed an new wax seal) and a broken toilet seat - both very easy to fix. The shower was also in need of repair (and a better cleaning job). The cabin was very dated, circa 1970's, but functional. The cabin had a TV, ancient and non functional. The furniture looked like it came from garage sales. Find a couple OK looking chairs here, a pull-out couch there and populate a cabin with it. Granted, we were going to "the lake" so weren't expecting stellar accomodations but the Berg's need to pay a little more attention to the basics which would make a noticeable imporvement. I believe one of the cabins was recently remodeled, so perhaps they have a capital improvement plan in place and will be updating cabins over the next couple of years. Despite the improvements needed to the cabins, we all enjoyed our stay and would most likely go back.
