I highly recommend stopping at all the exhibits throughout the center, the Ansel Adams gallery, and the museums about the history of the park. Plus, there are two gift shops to buy all your souvenirs. There is a theater that will go through the history of the park, which was pretty cool and informative. Once you are done exploring the exhibits, make sure to follow the trails to the nearest trail to capture some cool photos in nature and even walk over to Yosemite Falls. All in all, definitely a must-see and can be spent in one day to hit all the landmarks in this area. You will be entertained and amazed by the beauty of Yosemite National Park. We were lucky to arrive at the tail end of an outdoor presentation (on 3/8), where a very nice employee let everyone pet a bear skin. It was really interesting, as the fur was a lot rougher than I imagined. He was friendly and answered a few of our questions about the Yosemite wildlife. Lovely guy. The inside was airy and had some fun things to buy. Most employees we met were nice. The one star off was for the rude man who worked at the info desk (along with the nice presenter I mentioned earlier after he was done with the presentation outside... unfortunately, he was helping someone else). I asked Rude Man a few questions about some trails, and he was just not friendly. At. All. He answered in monosyllables with a low-key mean, impatient attitude. I've no idea if it's race-related (we're Asian), or if he just didn't want to be there. Either way, it didn't belong in a welcome center and he was pretty unsuited for customer service. Why work at an info desk, in a customer-facing role, if you're going to be grumpy?

My friend traveled 250 plus miles to see it. The staff here discouraged her from going because it's "dangerous." Next: I ask them about a waterfall near Nelder Grove. The employee tells me she's been there one hundred times. There is no waterfall! The map from the Friends of Nelder Grove website said it existed. I went out there, followed a trail that started next to a creek bed and found the Fall! Unless you want a restaurant recommendation, pass this Center by!

It was a nice big open building with different counters to stop and ask about different information regarding Yosemite and the surrounding areas. They also sold t-shirts, magnets, books and even puzzles. My daughter picked up a Junior Rangers activity book for free which was really! They had all the information on different hikes, plus different programs each day like the Ranger Walk, Bear Walk and the Family Ranger Talk. We only stopped in briefly, but next time we will be staying longer to check out more of the programs. I highly suggest stopping in next time you visit Yosemite! We'll be back next time!

A book for them to complete was handed to them and once done they can bring it into the welcome center. They had a mini ceremony it was such a great cute experience for the kids. The people working here were so nice!…read more I stopped in out of curiosity and necessity on the way to Coulterville for the start of my Yosemite adventure. They only had porta-potties, but they were super clean. It was 100 degrees outside, so they got a little stuffy, but hey--you're in the mountains! They gave me a few free materials with Yosemite trails and explained the process for getting a permit to hike Half Dome. I felt so welcome for stopping in. There are some trinkets, coffee cups, etc. I bought a "Yosemite Meditations" book for the pictures and memories. If you're driving by, don't hesitate to stop in and learn a bit more about the magical park you're about to experience!

There is some historic films with President John F. Kennedy in it. There is also a telescope to get a closer look at the lake We explored this area further and in some of the park areas we saw lots of elk and baby Eagles this time. They also offer guided walks at certain times as well as park maps. I the museum area there is a staff member to provide information on the animals native and the plants as well as offer furs you can touch. The gift shop consists of various shirts, books, pins, stickers, postcards, they even sell walking sticks and junior ranger uniforms. You can get glass blown trees and ornaments as well as some snacks. We got a few things from the gift shop and browsed the museum. March - October the visitor center is open until 5pm unless there is a power outage. The rest of the year they close at 4.

I also learned that Stockton has a whole world that I never knew existed. For instance.... --Being a bike lover, the Amgen Tour goes right through Stockton (Woot-woot) --There are a ton of events happening every month. In fact, the "Beerfest" is just around the corner on August 10, 2019. --Stockton have an amazing Museum as well as a kids museum. --There is the Bob Hope Theater (I still have yet to see so it's on my calendar) --Port of Stockton is nice with some very cool sailboats. The Stockton Arena is also a must see. --The Banner Island Ballpark I think is pretty cool. --The University of the Pacific which I've ridden my bike there and it's like cycling through an Ivy League college. This is also a cool place to walk your dogs especially during the weekend because of tons of plush, green grass. --Stockton also has tons of great parks and I've cycled through Oakgrove which was very nice (minus geese poop) LOL --Stockton also has a few local wineries as well as its neighboring City of Lodi. --My favorite probably Lincoln Center as I like to eat and buy food. There is even a nice outdoor plush seating area with umbrella shade. Very trendy. Did you know Stockton has "Nothin Bundt" too and Peet's coffee is right across the street? Empresso Coffee however, have been my goto hangout because they have the best cold brew coffee. It's legit! Trust me, I'm a coffee connoisseur. Best of all - Stockton actually, yes actually, has a ton of great restaurants with all flavors. My favorite I discovered is Moma's Pho right off Lower Sacramento and off Thorton/Pacific Ave. Great hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant. Order their Spicy soup. It's delicious! Oh before I forget.... I attended their annual "StockMarket" event and had a blast. I met emerging local artists, bought some one of a kind arts, and I got a chance to listen to some cool music from local bands. In fact, I even rode my bike there many thanks to the San Joaquin Bike Coalition volunteers, who provided the "Family Fun Ride Day." We had more than 40 riders that day. Lastly, I bought a cool "VisitStockton" T-shirt and I was told that United Airlines will be flying into Stockton Airport soon. United would provide flights from Stockton direct to LAX and Phoenix. Currently, Allegiant Airlines is the only commercial carrier flying out of Stockton to Las Vegas or San Diego. There are however, private jets and smaller planes you can RSVP. So the next time you drive through Stockton, checkout "VisitStockton.org" first and discover the many cool places to go. Oh did I mention that Stockton has a Mercedes Benz dealer? It's located in the Trinity Plaza right off Eight Mile Road. Cheers!
