Great day to take ur dog to the dog park !!

Thank u, Marissa! Best 40 mins we have spent at an out of town dog park!! We met at least 5 different groups of dogs as we walked through the Lake County Dog Park. Thank you, Dane County for making this park so accessible, fun and clean for everyone.

Having fun at Lake Farm dog park!

My puppy Rose and I had a great time there today! I've been leery of dog parks in the past, but this is a great place. It is large and very clean. Rosie and I met some really nice people and dogs there today. We both got some exercise (well, only one of us is asleep right now). We'll definitely be back! Doggie bags are available near the entrance. Trash cans are set up around the park. The only thing I wish they had was doggie water fountains. Yes, I know it's winter; I'm just saying. Also, the county park has lots of different sections/parking lots/entrances. As you get close they have helpful signs pointing you towards the dog exercise area. Rose and I can't wait to go back!

A great camping spot close to everything in Madison and Monona. Resident cranes visited us every day!

Ask the Community - Lake Farm County Park

Is there a place in the part where dogs can swim? IF not here, is there any place where dogs can swim in Madison?

No body of water at this park. Try Warner Dog park for swimming.

Attention, snow shoe enthusiasts: there is a dedicated area for you (the disc golf course past the large dog area).

We love Quann Park!!…read more It definitely helps that it's minutes from our house and very centrally located in Madison. With 11 acres of fenced in space to rub and enjoy, Quann parks is one of the biggest and best dog parks I've ever been to. There's plenty of space for all the dogs to spread out and enjoy or to play together based on their activity level! I've been here at least a dozen times, with my dog and dogs we've dog sat! I'm excited for spring and the weather to warm up! It's important to note, it's best to access the park near E Olin Ave or John Nolen Dr. And to turn onto Expo way. If you don't, there's very poor parking or you'll walk at least a quarter mile before you get to the fenced in area

In the summer, we don't usually go to the fields, though. My dog gets allergies pretty badly, and the grasses here really seem to irritate her especially badly. But she will swim and play fetch in the river for as long as we will let her. The opposite side of the river is not fenced, so if your dog is prone to escaping or getting distracted by things on the other side, this may not work for you, but our pup loves it and always comes back. The other dogs here have all been really friendly. We also almost always find a ball to play with if we forget our own. There are a couple of benches and picnic tables, although they're often covered in muddy dog footprints. My only real complaint is that this place requires a daily or annual fee. I think all city dogs should be able to run around (and pet owners already have to pay to register their pets), so it would be nice if they dropped the fee or made it sliding scale.

But for a nervous dog, it was often unoccupied when we went or one or two dogs and friendly, attentive owners were there. As the summer wore on, more and more people were showing up at this park. You got to know the regulars and their dogs, which was nice and had a community feel, even though we lived in different areas. August was when I first started thinking this may not be the place for us. A kind regular mentioned how she had been attacked by another dog owner and had to press charges against her! The same attacker threatened to sic their dogs on another friendly regular who was questioning the odd individual's behavior! A week later, I was here with my dog when a new family showed up. My dog was playing with another that was already there. Here is the scary thing about dog parks- although we should all be able to read our pet's behavior, NOT EVERYONE IS ABLE TO DO SO! Immediately, new dog went IN on my dog! Pulling her down by her ears, slamming her to the ground so hard that dust was flying! My dog was having to bare her teeth and growl! The other owner was staring at this interaction, absentmindedly saying "see, idk if this is him playing, or if I should stop him." Uhummmm...b*tch, that is aggression! As I went to leash my dog and get the hell out of there, she took off at a dead run from this other dog who was STILL coming for her. *SLAM!* My dog and her pursuer knocked me down. Annnnd my ankle was broken. Almost three months in a boot and an ankle surgery later, I still was willing to give this place a second (and third) chance. I saw a friendly regular in the store after I got hurt. She warned me that she was there in the evening and once the sun set, she and another dog parker saw a flashlight come on in the middle of the field next to the park. Like someone was watching them. Second chance: The SAME DOG was there when my mom took my dog in! The owner had him on a leash this time, clearly aware that she was trying to socialize him at a dog park. NO! He went in for my dog AGAIN!! The owner had the nerve to say "well, it looked like she (my dog) liked it." Are you INSANE?? Additionally, there was a huge string of "smash and grab" robberies going on at dog parks last summer. The broken glass in the parking lot made me think twice. Third chance: Another dog was biting my dog so hard she was yelping! Not once, but three or four times. Owner was busy texting and standing against a fence. We are beyond done here. It is only a matter of time before someone ELSE or their dog get seriously injured. It was nice and convenient for us at first, but it's like the Wild West there now.

It's a great park if your dog doesn't like to listen and run away from you. It's big enough to walk laps around while still watching your dog. The one main problem with this park is the drainage. Once a good hard rain comes or the snow melts then this park floods pretty bad. You have to make sure you go when it has been nice out for a few days otherwise your dog will be a muddy mess. There is also a smaller fenced in portion for shy/smaller dogs.
