Warner Dog Park offers wide open spaces for dogs to run as well as plenty of wooded areas, lakeshore trails, and even a few hilly bits to make it a great workout for all. It is wildly cold and windy at the moment- so wear all your layers. So many layers. There aren't a ton of trees to buffer the wind, but some. Bring sunglasses. That snow reflects the sunlight so brightly. The dogs chased birds, met a few new friends. Great place to spend an hour on a Saturday morning. read more

My dog LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVES this dog park. She could swim for hours!!! She loves playing with the other dogs in the water and then walking with me on the multiple paths they have!! I love how much shade they have but also lots of sunny areas! Seeing the turtles, bullfrogs, and other wildlife is nice too. read more

I love this park! I was trying to find the dog park by Skipper Buds' (still can't recall the name that my friend introduced me to) in my GPS, thinking this was the one - nope! - but a happy accident at that! It's completely fenced and right along the lake. There was a separate section for small dogs, so if your furbaby gets intimidated with larger dogs, you have a decent sized area to exercise your pet. The entire park is beautiful and lush with established trees and shrubs. While not entirely expansive, there is a nice trail out in the open field to walk your dogs. There is also a little more hidden trail along the tree lines that we enjoyed exploring, the entire time with the lake to your side. The water appeared very clean and the depth was gradual so your pups can just wade in if they want, or we saw a lab swimming all the way on the other side of the lake. I did feel one mosquito on me, so remember to use bug spray, especially around the summer time and being near such a large body of water. read more

Tucked in the back of Warner Park, off of Woodward Dr, is a parking lot for Warner Dog Park. This is definitely one of the best within-Madison dog parks we'v'e been to this summer. People were friendly and definitely seemed interested in letting the dogs play versus some of the other parks where people seem more intent on taking a walk with their dog. On a Sunday morning (11am) there were plenty of people coming and going; there was no shortage of playmates! There are many fenced-in acres for the dogs to run around and the park is surrounded by trees and pretty prairies which makes it quite scenic. In addition, there are certainly a few short trails for folks who are more interested in taking a walk around the park. There also is lake access so for the dogs that like to swim.... get the bathtub/hose ready at home!! The one downside is that there is no water access / drinking fountain nearby and there did not seem to be a stockpile of water jugs filled up -- be prepared to bring your own water. All in all, this rates as one of our favs within Madison city limits. read more

This park was a great place for my dogs to be introduced to water! With other dogs swimming they quickly got the idea of what to do! I would say that if your destination goal is to take your pup on a refreshing swim this is the place to go, but if your dog is not big into water there are better parks for a long off leash walk! read more

This is a cool park and one of the first that we went to! It is not the most convenient for us, but we try to get out here regardless. With a pond, large forested area, dog paths and a large prairie space, this is my favorite "City of Madison" dog park. There is a spot that I like to call the "dog bog," a nice and muddy path along the pond. All part of the experience. Lol For those who are interested, there is a separate small dog area! But I've noticed that the small dogs hang with the big dogs just fine. read more

I thought Google maps had steered us wrong as we wound our way through a residential area, but it turns out those that live in this neighborhood just happen to be very lucky! What I wouldn't give for a dog park this size and with a small beach near me. Our dog loved running around on the field and playing fetch, followed by a couple of quick swims in the water. Unfortunately there is some algae (or whatever) so she couldn't swim too far out, but it got the job done! read more

This dog park people are so friendly and welcoming. There is a small dog area as well as a larger dog area. The park was clean and people bring jugs of water and leave them there for other dogs to enjoy. I felt very welcomed and supported by the other dog owners and felt a true sense of community here. There is a place your dogs could swim but can get green and so we didn't let our dog swim there this time. This dog park is large and really a lot of space for dogs to run around and be free. There are some wooded areas but toward the edge of the park. There is a place to let your dog off the leash when you enter. We went around 7 on a Wednesday so there were some people and dogs but it wasn't overwhelming. read more

Such an awesome dog park! There's both a small and large dog area, but most dogs roam around in the large area. There's lots of space and the park provides poop bags and dishes for water. I guess the only downside was that it's really muddy over by the lake area. so if your dog likes to swim, make sure to bring a towel and maybe some cleaning cloths. I met a lot of other dog people there and from what I saw, there's seems to be a big group of regular people who sit around and chat, which is pretty nice. They're all very kind. This place is perfect! It's a great place to run & swim for your canine friend. Just please avoid the blue heeler/Australian kettle dog that has been attacking several dogs at this park. The owner is this blonde-ish middle aged woman. She clearly needs to get a muzzle or keep her dog at home. I saw her kicking her own dog to break up a fight. So if you see this dog, AVOID AVOID AVOID! (I believe the dog's name is Sage) read more

We visit family in Madison frequently with our dog, so we decided to check out Warner the other day. It's a little difficult to find, but once you do, you'll be glad! EIGHT ACRES of fenced-in grass, trees and a lake/pond, plus walking trails await you! A non-resident day pass costs $5 and there is a self-pay station at the entry point. Everyone we met was really nice and our dog was so thrilled to swim and play that it was just a joy to watch her enjoy herself! The only reason I am not giving it five stars is that there is no water fountain or pump or anything- either for humans or for dogs and that isn't made clear anywhere. It's a major oversight to not provide water for hot, thirsty dogs and their humans after several hours in the sun! read more
