This was my first time at Lake Ida Cleaners, as I found them using yelp. I brought in a dress that needed to be pressed and a pair of white linen pants that had gotten blue dye bled on them. I was a nervous wreck about the stains coming out as my fiancé needed them for our engagement pictures 4 days later. Kat was very tending to my needs and concerns and told me to call the following day to follow up. I called the following day (which was still a day before she said they would be ready) and asked that I give them another day. She informed me that the stains were out about 70%, but they wanted to soak them again and try something else to get it all out. When I went to pick up the pants today to my surprise... The pants were whiter than I have seen them in years! The team at Lake Ida Cleaners really understood how much was riding on these pants being perfect and they made sure it was done. Since moving to Florida, I have used this cleaners consistently. They have always been on time, and one day they ran a few hours late so they home delivered it to me. They have accommodated my crazy requests for one day cleaning, for the days in between travel. I get my clothes altered there a well, although I had a hem keep falling, but i realized it was due to my heels, so we figured out a way to avoid that. Ha, yesterday I was about to go to George's shoe repair off Atlantic, but I never noticed that Lake Ida Cleaners, do shoe repair as well... Thank god, my heels muttered... So I left it with them for the first time. Lead time is terrific! If I am happy with the repairs on my shoe tips they get upgraded. Such nice people, great service - keeping it simple. This is the WORST dry cleaner anyone can pick. The owner is an angry and threatening individual who literally threw out my dry cleaning after it was here for 54 days. He said he donated it but he surely sold it on an online retail store as used clothing. Posh is a favorite hustle of room mates and dry cleaners who steal clothes and pocket the cash via online items. Think digital garage sales; I asked the owner about reimbursing and he yelled the F*** word at me, in my face, and I almost called the local police. I feel like I was threatened in a way where I could be attacked at any moment. The owner or manager did this in front of a teen age girl working the cash register. She might have been 16 or 18 years old. What a horrible example to make in front of a young, impressionable girl and behaving like a maniac. Based on the owner's response, there's no question in my mind he stole my clothes which valued about 800.00. read more

I went to this dry cleaners because it received good, positive Yelp reviews, BUT, unfortunately the good/nice customer service didn't last for more than a minute, and I can't critique the quality of the dry cleaning because I didn't leave my clothes there! Shortly after I arrived & was waiting to be waited on, David (the owner) appeared from the unnoticeable back/side production area. I told him "I am at this cleaners because I'm looking for a new cleaners and this one got good Yelp reviews. If I leave my clothes here, I'll be doing a Yelp review too!" He immediately asked me why I left the last cleaners. I answered explaining I moved. He said "Good answer!" He asked how can he help me, so I said "What can you tell me about this cleaners?" He looked around and sarcastically said "What, you want a tour?!" When I just looked at him, he said (seriously, with a straight face) "We don't get out any stains and we lose a lot of your clothes." I WAS DUMBFOUNDED!!! DIDN'T I JUST TELL HIM I WAS GOING TO DO A YELP REVIEW ON HIS BUSINESS?!!!!! I realized I had to ask him specific questions, so I asked him "What's the most difficult stain you've removed?" He replied "The ones that people don't tell me how they got there." This was a fair answer. I asked him (since he came out of nowhere to wait on me) what was his main job there (besides working the counter), and he said 'everything'. He instantly got defensive (as If he has something to hide???) He later told me he's the owner. Having this experience myself, I understood. Then I told him I used to own 4 dry cleaners. He asked my phone number and name to create an account, so I gave him the information and spelled my name for him. As he took my clothes to place the order I asked him when they would be ready. He said he didn't see any stains, so they would be ready on Thursday. I watched him ring up the order (a dress and a 2-piece silk suit) and asked him if he charges extra for silk. (By the way, THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR A DRY CLEANER TO CHARGE EXTRA FOR SILK) He said they charge extra for silk, then had to look up my garment type to determine the surcharge. Having had many employees with my businesses I was curious, so I asked him "What's your biggest pet peeve with employees?" He said "I don't have any pet peeves." So, I said "Maybe 'pet peeves' isn't the right way to say it. What are some of the problems you have with employees?" He said "I don't have any problems with any employees!" When I was finishing asking the question an employee came up to the other counter and was standing there. (I don't know if this made David nervous, or he just didn't like me asking the question, but his attitude just got worse.) He placed the striptags (the little tags that are placed on each garment so they can be correctly filed for each customer's order) on top of the garments. This prompted me to ask him what computer software does he use to generate the tickets. I said "The striptags printed look just like the striptags I used to use with my computers! I wondered if it was the same company. David was not interested in any smalltalk. When he handed me the actual dry cleaning order ticket I noticed my name was spelled wrong (even though I specifically spelled it correctly for him when he was typing it)! This made me wonder "if I specifically told him how to correctly do something (spell) and he didn't do it, what can I expect my dry cleaning order to be like when I pick it up?" I asked him "If I become a repeat customer, would you mind correcting the spelling of my name on the ticket?" He took my clothes and shoved them toward me, and said to take my clothes and leave." He said I was calling him a liar (I NEVER called him a liar or anything similar to that!), so I left with my clothes and I thanked him for giving me so much to review about in Yelp! Maybe David was having a bad day. Maybe David didn't like me asking business-related bonding questions. Maybe David was too busy working too many jobs. Who knows. I DO know, David has lost my respect as a business owner & as a business operator, and worst of all--David has lost all of my (& my friends) business! read more

Friendly staff but did not provide alterations within time quoted. I had one garment that needed minor alterations. Was asked how quickly I needed it. Told them, it's not urgent. Was told come back by this date and time. When I showed up I was told it hasn't even been started on yet. I drove in pouring rain to get there. No call updating me it wasn't ready. Next day I pick it up and they would not discount total for my trouble and their failure. Just disappointing. read more

They did a terrific job on this semi-retired journalist's five blazers that I retrieved from my garage during a recent clear out. One of them, I wore to a job interview in May 1994. Just like t'others it brought back lots of memories covering various stories throughout America and Europe. Anyways, I went there on Saturday, June 6, with few expectations that they could be revived. One of them, a light blue, had a couple of tiny stains that I'd once haplessly tried to remove with baking soda. Imagine my surprise when I showed up a few days later to see the blemishes gone, and the jacket as pristine as the others I had taken there. Tips: Don't be put off by the warning on Google Maps that parking nearby may be difficult. I had no problem. Nor the prices. At $9.50 a blazer I could have saved a few bucks by going elsewhere, but it was worth every cent. I love it when I discover a great local business. I shall return. read more

Unexpectedly, I stayed up in the Del Ray area overnight, and did not have enough clean clothing with me. I decided to stop into Lake Ida Cleaners to see if they would be able to clean my blazer and launder a shirt for me in 24 hours. Not only were they willing to help me out, the people at the desk were super nice! The new owner David was there and introduced himself to me as well. When I returned to pick up my blazer and shirt, the quality of the work was terrific, and the prices were very reasonable. If i find myself up in that area again in the future, I would use that dry cleaners once again. read more

They saved the day!!!! This is a wonderful dry cleaner. Not only were they able to clean my dress, they were honest and friendly! Most places that you go to will tell you no problem it can be fix. She was very honest with me and explained each process that would be done to the dress and the possible things that could occur with washing the particular material that I brought in. I went to Lake Ida cleaners because of decent reviews and it was near me. The quality of cleaning was just so-so. They didn't get the stains out that I pointed out. Much worse, however, was their pricing. they charge between $6-$9 per item! I pay $2.50 per item in Maryland at a place called Zips.Even worse, they charge an extra $1 per item if you need next day cleaning even if you bring it in early. What a RIP OFF! I wish a place like Zips Cleaners would open up here. They would clean up, no pun intended. Bottom line: Find a better and especially cheaper dry cleaner. read more

First thing I have to say is that they do a great job and I will NEVER go back and I will share this experience. Picking up clothes today I noticed that I was charged for dry clean instead of laundry. The young lady told me they were a cotton blend and could be done either way... but the person who checked them in was new and might not have known.... so it cost an extra $4.00 per shirt. Ok... but then she told me I should have looked at the ticket when I dropped the stuff off. I don't take a ticket as most of the staff knows...including the owner... he always asks would you like a ticket as do many customers.... she then pulled an "it is not my problem" out of her ass.... really that's how you address a customer. To my surprise the loud and boisterous owners wife defended her, was talking about me when I walked back in and was nasty and wanted to know what I wanted. Great cleaners, poor staff, lousy owners wife... husband watched and said nothing... go down the street to the next place and do yourself a favor. read more

As other folks have said, clothes simply were not cleaned. I noted that several shirts were still dirty, the owner said he couldn't do anything further because additional treatment, specifically bleach, would damage the logos. I said "So, $15 for a twin fitted sheet, and another $50 for things that aren't cleaned. Ok, well, that's it." I indicated I wanted to pay and wrap things up. The owner asked what he could do to make this right, and I said "Nothing - this was the 2nd or 3rd time I came in here and stuff wasn't done. The last time it was a wedding gown, which I received back still dirty, took it elsewhere. I just won't come back." Then I saw my plain, non logoed, shirt with darker stains than when I dropped it off. I said "No logo - what happened here?" Suddenly gone was any shred of professionalism, and all sense of decorum and customer service. The owner's defensive response of, "Oh, so you have a photographic memory?" was met with "Yes, I do, as a matter of fact. The stains are darker than when I brought them in. Almost none of this is clean." He then starts reciting the rules/policies posted on the walls, to which I replied, "I really don't care. Here is a plain shirt, obviously not cleaned. You know what - you asked what you can do to make this better, refund or don't charge me for the stuff you ruined/and/or didn't bother to clean." He got upset, exclaiming "No! No! I'm not doing that because you're not coming back anyway, and we don't give refunds!" I said "That's ridiculous, you just asked what would be fair. Practically nothing was cleaned, and I don't want to pay for what wasn't done." I took two shirts off the rack, and was like "I'll pay for this, that's it". He snapped, grabbed the rest stuff off the pick-up rack, and threw it under the clothes carousel, and proceeded to kick it down the "corridor" (one of the shirts had his footprint on it) still yelling "No!! No!!" I moved to get my property, which put me just behind the counter, and he now started screaming, "Get out from behind here! I'm calling the cops!" I said "You're your of your mind, pick that up. And what are you calling the cops for - what the hell is wrong with you?"" He continued to screech "Call the police!!", and grabbed my arm. He later told the police he was trying to grab the shirts I was holding, which I do not believe. I said "I'll file a complaint about you grabbing me. ", to which he replied, "I didn't grab your arm. I incredulously said, "YES. YOU. DID." And he said he didn't, then smugly said, "It's my word against yours." I said, "No, it's not - pull the tapes from your security camera that's pointed right at us." He started backpedaling, "No, I can't." And I said, "Oh, it doesn't work?" No answer. His employee was now on the phone with the police. I walked over to another one of the cameras and pointed at it, asking "So, this is fake, too? Not on? I guess you're just lying again?" Still no answer. I felt I needed to exit as quickly as possible if I did not want to run the risk of further being harmed. I told him to "pick my stuff up, and run my card", which he did only after several requests. The first few times I asked were met with bizarre statements like "You didn't say this before.", and I think one request was refused. He ran the card, and the employee asked if he still needed the cops there. He said "Yes, still have them come", with a tone now as casually dismissive as someone approving freshly ground pepper on a salad. I took what I had out to my car, leaving at least one item inside, but did not care about the clothing. I waited for the police, and filed the first of my reports. Perhaps as expected, the owner tried to downplay his shockingly crazy and abusive behavior, evidently trying to laugh off his meltdown and threatening actions, saying he may have gone "a little overboard". I wouldn't be surprised to learn that picking fights with customers is his defense mechanism; however, in this case, when the customer he tried to bully refused to accept his nonsensical behavior, he utterly lost control. This business owner demonstrates a pattern of erratic behavior that he later denies and/or downplays, but there are too many notes about this man for his behavior not to be taken seriously. This owner attempted to mask his nastiness to one person by calling it sarcasm, and tried to gloss over his attack on me when speaking to the police. The fact is, they do a poor job cleaning clothe. When you pick up dry cleaning, or run any errand, for that matter, you don't expect to walk into a minefield, which is exactly what happens here. Taking into consideration the owner's defensiveness, at best, and attempted bullying and battery, at worst, and patronizing this establishment seems absurd, especially when there are so many other businesses owned by folks genuinely interested in customer care. read more

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. My first two orders of dry cleaning have been returned and are beautiful. I am on vacation in the Boca Raton / Delray Beach area and asked a local friend where I could have my custom tailored shirts cleaned without fear of getting back unwearable garments. I was referred to Lake Ida Cleaners in Delray Beach. Well... they did a phenomenal job on my expensive custom shirts at a super reasonable fee of $2.39 a shirt. I pay $3.25 at home for the identical service. The people at this cleaner were very friendly, very professional and very accommodating. If I lived down here they would be my cleaners, without a doubt. Keep up the great service and super work. I have no hesitation recommending this cleaner, as my friend did for me. read more

They are lovely! I called in the day before a big event with an ivory lace dress stained with food (last time i lend a friend that dress). I could only give them less than 24 hours and I knew I was asking the impossible. They were so incredibbly nice over the phone and in person. They were able to get the stains out at an AMAZING price. WARNING DO NOT GO TO THIS DRY CLEANERS !!!!! this place is an absolute nightmare ! I have dropped off shirts to be washed cleaned and pressed as well a beautiful dress that had a little tiny coffee stain. Spoke with the owner and he told me he could most likely get the stain out. Came back to pick up my clothes, and the woman at the front desk looked like she was a zombie didn't even greet me when I walked in. I don't really care about that as much as I care about her disgusting attitude. When I received my clothes the dress was still stained and the shirts were not even washed because I could smell the armpits smelled like body odor. Not only did they lie about washing the shirts I asked the owner what we can do with my dress and if there was any way that we could try to get the stain out. He told me there's nothing he could except try to soak it overnight. Which at this point I didn't even believe they would do that. Unbelievable ... honestly I've never heard of a dry cleaners not being able to take out a simple coffee stain. At the end the woman at the front desk wouldn't even answer my questions or look me in the eye. Like she was mad at me and ignoring me. By the way the entire time I was calm never yelled spoke in a normal tone and the attitude I received in return was unprofessional and extremely inappropriate. I looked for an on site dry cleaners to have a Burberry suit ($$$$) and 2 shirts dry cleaned prior to a trip to NY. We dropped the items off in the afternoon and paid extra in order to have them returned not the next day because it was already the afternoon but the following day. We picked up the clothing. I noticed that the arms were crossed on the shirts instead of hanging at the sides of the shirts. I thought it unusual but left it at that. When we were packing to leave we removed the bag from the first shirt, detached the string so the long sleeves would release and that is when I realized why the sleeves were crossed in that manner. By folding the sleeves across it concealed a burn mark in the chest area from a tiny piece of paper that was still on the shirt. There was no time to repair the shirt prior to leaving so the best we could do was report the damage to the owner/manager. Ultimately, we returned to Ida's and the shirt was repaired. However, I believe that the shirt was returned in that condition knowingly which is very disappointing. We were offered no coupon for a future cleaning, no refund or any small consideration for not being able to use the shirt that was intended to be worn with the suit, or for having to make another round trip to have the shirt repaired. In fact no even apologized when we picked it up. On a positive note I don't know how they repaired the brown burn mark but it was gone. So this is a mixed review. I likely will use them again but will inspect the clothing carefully when it is returned. read more
