Upon getting there I guess I ordered the wrong tents I was under the impression I'd have ac because let's be honest for $150/night... WRONG! I was accommodated for 1 day because somebody else had booked the next day. I didn't last too long because there was a roach inside the tent and call me bougie but I've been in the military and never seen a roach inside a tent but like I said I've never been glamping so this was new to me but I did enjoy the tortoise and the beach! Our Cub Scout Webelos went here to complete our Paddle Onward adventure which was to learn how to Kayak. Our group of 11 had a great time. Our tour guide was Jessie and Zoey, they were both great instructors and tour guides. They were very accommodating and informative. They even took pictures and videos of us while kayaking. The Park itself is huge and lots of things to do. After our event, we had a lunch by the nearby picnic table. Highly recommend the kayaking and Jessie and Zoey to be your tour guides. read more

Ruined My Birthday -- Extremely Disappointing Experience I booked the "Horseback Ride on Scenic Lake Louisa Trails" through Viator to celebrate my birthday (April 9th, 2026), expecting a special and memorable experience. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most disappointing and upsetting experiences I've had with any service. My confirmation email clearly stated a 10:30 AM start time. On my way there, I got lost and did the responsible thing -- I called ahead to inform them I would be a few minutes late. I arrived at 10:33 AM and was physically present with the group while the instructions were happening. Despite this, I was abruptly and rudely told by the instructor to leave and reschedule because the briefing had already started. What made this even more frustrating is that at no point -- in any email or communication -- was I told I needed to arrive at 10:00 AM. I even showed them my confirmation to clarify, and still received no understanding or flexibility. Trying to remain respectful and not disrupt the group, I calmly went to reschedule as instructed. That's when I was informed, for the first time, that I would have to pay a $75 rescheduling fee. This had never been mentioned before. I explained the entire situation again -- that I had called ahead, that I was only three minutes past the stated time, and that I had been standing there during the instructions. I also shared that this was my birthday and simply asked if there was any possibility to waive or reduce the fee. There was no effort to help. No empathy. No willingness to even consider a reasonable solution. I was told a manager would call me to follow up. That call never came. I then reached out to Viator, hoping for some level of support or mediation, and they simply repeated the company's policy without offering any resolution. No refund, no flexibility, no accountability. What makes this experience especially upsetting is that I was genuinely excited. I had planned this in advance as something meaningful to celebrate my birthday, and even seeing the location in person, I could tell it was beautiful. But the way I was treated completely overshadowed everything. I was polite the entire time. I communicated clearly. I respected their process. And still, I was met with rudeness, poor communication, and zero consideration. This wasn't just disappointing -- it felt careless and dismissive. If you're looking for an experience where customer service, communication, and basic courtesy matter, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Brought my daughter here for horse back riding with her friends for her birthday. The park is very well kept and very clean. We were greeted by a volunteer where we paid the park entry fee and provided a map on where to go. The horse back riding was a blast and all the kids really enjoyed themselves. The trail guides were super friends and provided some general history about the area and some facts about the land and animals in the park. Lots of fun and a great afternoon experience! read more

Many trails, sunset car parking, and great camping amenities. My only negative was we were told we had full hookups for the rv but there wasn't septic. No worries there is a dump station, just wished we would have gotten one of the full hookups sites like we had requested. read more

I have stayed at two different cabins at Lake Louisa State Park in the last 12 months. Though the reservation process is straightforward, availability is limited as the cabins tend to be booked months in advance. These units are popular in part because they have certain amenities, such as a beautiful lake view, a kitchenette, and air conditioning. I think the cabin experience at Lake Louisa is vastly overrated and here's why: -Price/Fees: the cabins are expensive. There are no refunds, so you have to commit to a date that is usually far in advance. Depending on the season, weather in Central Florida can be a toss up. Rescheduling a stay involves a fee. -Availability: the online system is not 100% accurate. There have been cases where a cabin shows to be available, but actually isn't when I speak to the staff over the phone. -Condition of the cabins: see the pictures. I spotted multiple air conditioning vents with mold inside and surrounding the areas. The unit didn't seem to blow cold air, even when it was at 73 degrees Fahrenheit (which was the limit). I am sure there are far worse cabin experiences at state parks in Florida. Still, the cabins at Lake Louisa are not worth the money or hassle. read more

Kayaking Together on Our Anniversary: My boyfriend and I went kayaking on Memorial Day to celebrate our one-year anniversary. I've always wanted to learn how to kayak, so we chose the Paddle & Kayak Lesson to start. We decided on a 9:00 - 9:30 AM slot, to do our best to beat the heat and avoid the Memorial Day weekend crowds. We were surprised to find out the park entrance fee of $5 was waived due to it being Memorial Day, which was nice. When we got there, we met our guide and instructor, Michelle. She brought us to the Camper Canteen to try on our lifejackets and we went to the restroom before beginning. When we returned, Michelle already had the kayaks ready to go in the water. She was fantastic! Kind, helpful, patient, and very laid-back. We enjoyed our time with her. I highly recommend her, and I would book her again. She even knows how to paddle-board! I believe she teaches that too! She told us all about the Night Kayak: Full Moon Paddle, and we're looking forward to possibly doing that too. She even offered to take some pictures of us - very kind of her! Also, incredibly brave for both Michelle and my boyfriend to have their phones on them. She helped us in our kayaks and gave us a push. She went over paddling, and I gotta say... we did well! We had so much fun out on the water. When the breeze came in, I took advantage and I rode the flow! Made my kayak go so fast. We were able to learn some cool things. I learned about alligators and their mating season. Did you know that alligators will court in April, mate in May, and then lay their eggs in June? Thanks, Michelle! Once you practice the paddling enough, it becomes natural and automatic. I'd say the most challenging parts were getting in the kayak and then getting out. Be mindful of keeping balance and making slow and steady moves. We did not see any animals out in the water, but we loved the endless lily pads and water lilies. When you paddle over and through the lily pads, you will find it is a little tough because your paddle is meeting with some resistance. Just be patient with yourself. FYI #1: Wear clothes and sandals that you are okay with getting wet. You will get wet! FYI #2: Keep your electronics away and in a closed Ziplock bag. Drink plenty of water before and put on lots of sunscreen and bug spray before you get in your kayak boat. This will be a lot easier to do and deal with before you're kayaking and on the water. FYI #3: Sunglasses and hats are your best friends. Honestly, just pack some frozen water, bug spray, and sunscreen. Trust me! read more

Just had a lovely stay at the cabins in Lake Louisa. The view of sunrise and sunsets is truly enough to make you stay in. The canteen staff especially Gabriella made it very easy to rent kayaks . Also enjoyed biking and hiking. We will be back soon. read more

This is one of our favorite Florida state parks. We visit in our Airstream and stay at the campground. The hiking trails are wonderful.. you'll get to experience pine forest, cypress swamp, lake and creek side, and prairie environments. The campground has nice level Rv sites, tent sites, and "glamping". Being near Orlando, there are lots of grocery and restaurant options not too far away. They also offer bike, kayak and canoe rentals. We've brought our own kayaks and bikes in the past. Be aware that some of the trails flood a bit if there have been heavy rains. I've lived in Florida my entire life and have never heard of Lake Louisa State Park! I'm glad a friend suggested it because it's extremely easy to miss even if you drive past it. It's roughly 4,500-acres meaning there's plenty to see and do. We went kayaking and Lucinda and Jason were so friendly and helpful. The lake itself looks small but trust me when you're out there paddling you realize how large the body of water is. There's a cute little area with shade that we would paddle too whenever we needed a break from the suns rays. All in all it was relaxing and we definitely see ourselves doing this again soon. Once we were done kayaking, we went for a hike. I was a little wet from the paddling so I was pleased to see there were pretty clean bathrooms available. (There are no sinks, so keep that in mind! -- hand sanitizer and wet wipes are your best friends) After I changed we went for almost a 2 mile hike before deciding we were ready for some food. There is SO much to do here including: * kayaking/canoeing * Segway tours * camping/glamping * horse back riding * and probably tons more I didn't get to see. I can't wait to come back! read more

We have visited the area several times over the year and have always wanted to visit this place. I am glad we actually stopped in. The Park is very large and lends itself to various options. You can visit Lake Luisa beach and go for a swim. You can also go for a nature hike at various trails they have marked off. If you want to camp out, they have this option as well. If you are a RV owner, they also have grounds for you to be able to stay at. In addition if you want to rent a bike or kayak you can also do this as well. I can't wait to go back and bring my bike to go for a ride. By the way, also look out for wildlife, we saw several turtles while we were there. read more

My husband and I went horseback riding at Lake Louisa yesterday morning for our anniversary and were not disappointed. Our guides, Emma and John, were super friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout the whole experience. Our horses, Penny and Gigi, were l very sweet and no trouble at all for inexperienced riders. We took our little fur baby here, although it was a bit chilly we had a nice time walking the trails. This park is rather large, but the signage is good so not getting lost. My husband, son, and a friend of ours went to Lake Louisa State Park last week for the first time and we really enjoyed it. We originally visited the park a few days earlier and we looked at the campgrounds and the facilities around it and decided that we should explore some more. The campgrounds have nice partial and full hook up sites with on sight bathrooms, showers, and a washer and dryer which is convenient for long term camping. The park has several lakes and the views over the beautiful hills are gorgeous. We hiked the approximately 2.5 mile loop trail near the entrance and it was really enjoyable. There was a nice breeze and it was 50's in the morning, but quickly heated up to the low 70's. The trail was partly sand and partly grass, there is a lot of native Florida plants and I even got to see a some cactus! I saw a few beautiful butterflies and even got a picture of one! The rangers were very friendly and helped us get a Florida state park annual pass. The bathrooms had vault toilets that were well maintained and had very little smell. We will DEFINETELY be back for more hiking and possibly camping! Rating from F to A+++, I give it an A+++! read more

My boyfriend brought me here as a surprise for our fourth anniversary, and what a great gift it was! Tina and Tracy really love their job, and it really shows in their work. The way they care for and know the horses, the excitement they bring to their tour, and the kindness they extend to each attendee. The horses are very well taken care of, you can tell by the large pasture and their clean stall. Whoever trained them did a great job because riding Penny was a breeze.
