This Pre-K was a fully functioning school and had enourmous heart and character. Their play based approach was exactly what we were looking for. Our son loved his time at UCUMC, and even though he is in first grade now, he would tell you he would go back to UCUMC in a heartbeat. UCUMC is a hidden gem, and we wouldn't have picked anywhere else for our son to have gone.

Factuality: some teachers do not having teaching degrees, yes they might be a good teacher but it was hard learning when your math teacher has to look up how to help you on math problems. but I should have to feel the need to leave a PRIVATE school to a public school in hopes of getting better education since all public school teachers have to have a teaching degree. I had a male teacher who would make degrading "jokes" and if you didn't find it funny he would say you didn't have humor, jokes should be funny not rude. Also same teacher would talk about a student to other teachers or students. As long as you're apart of the church you won't get in serious trouble. Sports: they have a great basketball, and that's it. They don't put in money toward the soccer team, the softball team, or any other sport but basketball. They have also said they will not be adding a lot of students since they will have to go from a 3A-4A school, which means they wouldn't be the best at basketball and win every game. But they are missing out of a lot of talent when you won't size up. They also have problems bulling but there really is no big concern, you might get detention and that's it. While it may not look like a large commercial daycare center, don't let that fool you. Behind those doors is one of the most loving, family-oriented preschool environments I've ever experienced. My children absolutely adore Planet Playschool. My son literally calls the director his "best friend," and both of my kids love every teacher there. One of my favorite things about the school is that while each child has a primary teacher, they interact with all of the teachers throughout the day. That means every teacher truly knows every child, and every child feels loved and supported by the entire staff. The teacher turnover is incredibly low, which says a lot about the culture they've built. The staff genuinely cares about the children, and it shows in everything they do. The teachers don't just teach the kids, they love them. My daughter graduated from Planet Playschool and entered the Dual Immersion program with Mooresville Graded School District fully prepared and ready to succeed. Another thing I appreciate is how clean they keep the facility. The classrooms receive a full scrub-down every night, which gives me peace of mind knowing the children are learning and playing in a clean environment. He started Woodlawn as a person who could barely look an adult in the eye because of shyness, and ended the year doing a solo poetry reading at the school talent show. He started the year wary of the wealthy show-offs and bullies he had encountered at a Lake Norman preschool, and ended with 11 of the best friends he has ever had -- all 11 of his classmates. The teachers at this school are truly amazing, and beyond the beautiful school grounds, are the real gem of this school. We have never seen teachers who care so much about the success of each one child. Ms. Maureen was my son's teacher when he was in the three year old class. She made the class fun and rewarding. It made me wish that we had sent our daughter ( his older sister) there for the three year old program instead of just the four year old program. Our children both had Ms. Julie for the four-year old class and they LOVED her. She had a way of tapping into their artistic side and letting them explore their imaginations through play and art. They also had a religious education and a physical fitness program that was included with tuition. Both of my children are now in elementary school and are exceeding our expectations with their academic abilities. I have to credit Stepping Stones for laying the foundation for their success. It is what Kindergarten used to be. Getting children ready for school while teaching them how to get along.
