Nice place to go listen to live music. The food is great. It is a little pricey, but probably right in line with the rest of the economy.

We haven't stayed at the resort but the store/restaurant is on our loop. Since the tornado came thru they have rebuilt and it's much nicer than before. The food at the restaurant is much better and my wife's comment was this was the first breakfast there she has really enjoyed. It absolutely was an excellent breakfast and sun a breakfast snob. I asked about the slip prices since they have much of the marina rebuilt but almost no boats in it. Well the reason is simple, $400-500 a month for a slip is outta sight. My slip in Kemah is less and for a bigger boat. I'll just keep using the public launch when I want to cruise the lake. P read more

Okay, we have been regular customers at this location. It has always been a great get away from the busy Dallas area to one of our favorite lakes. They recently upgraded the location with some new units. Admittedly, it was needed. The old lodge building was falling apart. I stayed in it once for a Media Bass championship. It was dated, small, and really not pleasant. However, it was cheap and it had a bed. We recently started staying at the cabins. We LOVED them. Great location and accommodations, for the right price. Well the old price... Unfortunately when they upgraded the lodge, they apparently had to upgrade the price so the customers can pay for it. We were planning our annual trip there and we were shocked at the prices and fees. Years ago a 3 night stay cost us 317.40, see screenshot. We planned a 3 night stay for this May and it was 468 dollars! We tried it for February and the price jumped up again to 135 dollars a night! (Screen shots included) My wife asked them them about it on Facebook and they replied to her, (screenshot) claimed they haven't changed the prices, and then deleted the post. We understand prices are going up. What we don't understand is how the older/dated cabin prices had to be raised as well. There was fist holes in the back of the bathroom door we stayed in and a black widow by the front steps. What bothered us the most is how y'all just deleted the real question. Well, try and delete this. We are proven, paid, legitimate paying previous customers with a genuine concern. Done. Y'all can have your high prices. It's an east Texas fishing lake. This location has been an affordable option for decades. You have lost a customer. Also, hope y'all have upgraded your check in process. It was always event signing paper after paper after paper. This is an awesome place to camp, right on lake Palestine and some good fishing spots here. The grounds always look nice and the camping spots are big, the staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home, . They have some nice events here that they go all out on. They have a grill and a bar. There is fishing supplies and bait, you can even come here by boat when they have a band. read more

I have stayed here on several occasions and can say it is a friendly place and has a really good atmosphere. The RV sites are very adequate for the location and the access to a boat ramp and dock is great. I have read some of the negative reviews and can honestly say that they are over blown in my opinion. But everyone is entitled to that. I will continue to stay here in the future and will recommend it to anyone asking. read more

So this was our first time to the the resort. The accommodations were good and super convenient if you're a fisherman. However, if you wanting to just relax and have an easy weekend, you should definitely come here. The Grill was fun and the food was good too. They have live music and plenty to do for the kids. We got to listen to a Texas great, Randy C. Moore, who was awesome. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Booked their 'Lakeview suite' for Memorial Day weekend to spend with family. Not exactly sure what to expect as the description online was vague with limited pictures. There are 3 bedrooms, all have twin sized begs in them, and 2 small bathrooms connected to the back of 2 of the bedrooms. Resort provides a few clean towels and small bars of travel soap. In the 4th room there is a small kitchenette-see pic, 2 burners, tiny sink and below the stove is a dorm sized fridge. The rooms are all side by side and connected in front via a long hallway. Climbing a staircase to get to the suite is required. Positives-opens up directly to the lake with just a few steps you are in the water, AC is extremely cold, and a short walk to their restaurant/store. We even rented the kayaks and canoe while here, which were very reasonably priced. The staff that works here were extremely friendly. Negative-this place needs some TLC. It is very outdated, old, weird carpet, even in kitchen area, both toilets clogged during our stay, and also needs a deep cleaning. Shower stalls are pretty small and needs serious cleaning/or please update them! I also wish at least 1 of the rooms would have a queen or a king, not all twin beds. Also they had a couple of bbq grills outside but they were old/broken/not usable. Overall we really had a good time, but the accommodations were very disappointing. read more

On the positive side, We have visited this resort several times and the improvements are amazing. Although we are RVers, I was able to look at the new cabins and they look amazing for small families. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. We brought our boat and was able to rent a dock space right in front of our RV spot which was awesome. We did have a couple of things we didn't enjoy. The house at the entrance of Ruby Rd has a huge pile of junk and garbage under their car port and yard which really does not give a good impression upon arrival. I was taken aback at the filth which greeted us. We have eaten at the restaurant on prior trips but this time the food at the restaurant was unimpressive. The fish and shrimp on the menu was obviously frozen and fried so long what was served was breaded dust. All for the price of $16 bucks. No bueno! We decided to try breakfast another day and once again the eggs were really over done and scrambled to look like pebbles. Sorry to say we'll just have to cook for ourselves. We have another trip planned for later this summer and I'm all for giving this place another chance. The optimist in me thinks they read these reviews and strive to make changes. read more

I have rented here numerous times. I will continue to rent from here! The cabins are always clean. The staff is super friendly. I love that you have the option to choose a pet friendly cabin. Although they are as modern as the others, the added bonus (other than the obvious fur baby reason) is that they are right on the water. So you can walk out your back door take a couple of steps to your boat. Or in my case, put your paddle board in and take off. This is one of my favorite places to go. 10/10 recommend! read more

With all this beautiful land out here what's the best option to do? Enjoy the lake of course! Well there's a problem. This lake is basically all private property so you either got to know someone with a lakehouse or own your own boat to dock. They have rental stuff but it all closes down at 6 pm. Sucks when it doesn't even get dark until closer to 8:30 pm. They do offer swimming in the lake if you can call it that. They circle off a small area where you can pay 5 bucks a person to swim in the lake. Bring your own boat if you are in the area. Or check out Tyler State park instead. read more

I decided to give the Lake Palestine Resort a few days of my business and I do not regret it. Our intentions were to enjoy ourselves here and we did exactly that. We left from Houston to have some time away from the big city. From the beginning the customer service was excellent! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. When we opened the door to our room it was absolutely adorable. I stayed in a 2 story room. The room was as stated with plenty of accommodations and fully furnished. I'm not sure why people are complaining about things being "outdated" because I feel that not only did the older television and the classic bed spread prints give it the homey atmosphere that I desired and a sweet pure character to the room itself but, I feel that the fact that I was able to wake up and walk directly onto the pier and see the beautiful morning sun and enjoy my coffee on a lovely backdoor patio made up for anything that you could possibly find to complain about. I have no complaints whatsoever. The kitchen is full of cups, a fridge that works, an oven, a coffee maker with a cute little window I was able to enjoy my dinner at. The bathroom had a large mirror, a nice shower, plenty of soap and towels, a working toilet, etc. The downstairs bedroom has a large mirror, 3 beds, a large couch, a tv, and a cold A/C. As previously stated, I have absolutely no complaints about the Lake Palestine Resorts. This place is amazing. My father experienced pure heartwarming nostalgia staying here. I now have this experience to keep forever in my mind as a happy place where I hope to come again. read more

Don't stay here. Nothing about this place is a resort, and definitely doesn't deserve to charge a resort fee on top of their lodging prices. Reserved a room with four beds, for four people for two nights. Showed up and given a room with three beds because they had given our room to somebody else (which happened to be another member or our fishing club, he was by himself). Their only answer was we will be glad to upgrade you to one of our new cabins for an extra $250, (which supposedly sleep four). I.e. bait and switch tactics. Note the cabins only have one real bed, there are two mattresses laying on the floor in a loft area you can't stand up straight in, and a fold out couch. So yes, technically sleeps four, but now where near worth the price. Oh, and bring a really long extension cord so you charge your boat in their mud parking lot. If there is a plug available that works! read more

This was as low as I was allowed to rate... otherwise, I would have given it a 0/5. This was once our place to go for a quiet relaxing weekend away from city life. Unfortunately, it has become a playground for long-haulers that have "moved" in and love to party. And ohhh do they love to party. Night and day, all night. If you can't hear 'em, just follow the cloud of vape smoke.... rough crowd and certainly not a place for family, relaxation, and absolutely no peace or quiet. And they ROAM the park looking for their people to invite to their shindigs. Ugh... just go away... it was a weird vibe. Yes the Manager (new manager) knows of this, but why would he want to forfeit a for sure rent ticket. And yes I am a verified customer and I can prove it by the ongoing $2.95 charge that keeps re-occurring on my debit card even tho I haven't stayed there since Labor Day 2022. If you are looking to relax and enjoy the beautiful waters of Lake Palestine, prob outta look somewhere else unless you like the party and smoke scene. read more

Went to this place for a family reunion. Feels like it hasn't been touched since the 60's, not in a good way. The cabins were dirty and small. Sheets on the bed were old and musty. One 15" tv in the whole place and it is in with the "kitchen" which is a sink, stove, fridge combo. Didn't even know they made such a thing. Went to the restaurant/office to check out the live entertainment. There were smokers everywhere, which didn't work out well for my pregnant wife. We waited 15min before a waiter would come and talk to us. Finally put out orders in. 45 min later after watching several people get there orders who showed up after we ordered out food comes out. They got our order wrong, twice. Food was not good at all. Service was worse. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Great spot to chill with a bucket of beers ($9!) on the back porch on a Friday or Saturday night during the summer. They have a guy who plays guitar on the backporch who is really fun. First, the positives - the staff we dealt with was very friendly, and the water pressure in the lodge can put out the Chicago fire. The low points - This place is slightly better than a deer camp. I take that back. It is on the same level as a deer camp. The furniture in the rooms was cheap when it was bought decades ago. And like another has said, it is now outdated. The mattresses on the beds are what I call "hotdog buns," they roll up around you when you lie down. The Dish TV system is very difficult to operate, the fridge is very small, the AC has to work overtime to keep the place cool. Wife and I both took showers after a day on the water and the water did not drain out!! After informing the office, the maintenance kid said they had been "very busy" for the last two weeks (doing what??) but they would snake the drain and remove the builtup hair that was most likely clogging the drain. Uh, dude, hair does not suddenly clog up a drain, and that water sat there over night without a bit seeping through a "hair clog." The parking area for vehicles and trailers is in SERIOUS need of grating. It is in bad enough shape to shake your boat off the trailer if you have to drive through it!! Pitiful. Marine gas for $5.89/gal? No, thanks. We trailered up, drove a mile and got premium for $4.01. Add a little Sta-Bil and you've saved a bunch. The food? Avoid like the plague. My wife threw up her lunch the last time we ate there. And I've experienced the same exact thing as another reviewer. Waiting forever for food, watching people that ordered after you did get theirs. But I wasn't as patient when it happened to me. I demanded and got my money back. If you trust the kitchen in the rooms, go to the Brookshires on 155 and bring your own food. It's sad that a nice lake in a fairly highly populated area like Lake Palestine does not have a better lake facility than this. Maybe if you're with a group and cooking out and partying, you might have a decent time at this place. But I look at their boat slips and see about a 95% occupancy rate so I know they're making money at that. Spend a little, bring your rooms up into the 2000's (1990's at least), improve your parking, and improve the restaurant, and maybe I'll stay again. Maybe. read more

After reading the bad reviews on Yelp and bad reviews received from friends who've stayed at the RV sites we called and spoke directly to Scott who assured us the place had been updated and we would really enjoy our stay!! NOT the case! The mobile home we rented was severely run down with the following issues (aka Cabin #1): *Carpet was dirty, stained and had an odor. We literally didn't want to walk barefooted! *The furniture was also stained and in horrible condition. When you sit on the love seat the back folded around your head! *The curtains in the living room literally fell off the wall and the curtain in the bathroom was falling off the wall. *All of the parts that fell off the trailer were in the closets (window screens, trims etc etc) *One of the twin mattresses had totally collapsed * the linens smelled! *The entry into the shower when you stepped into the tub/shower shell was very weak and close to breaking. *The entire trailer leaned to one side! *The skirt around the bottom of the trailer was all pulling away from the trailer and the front door paint was peeled away! *The AC was not working properly and the entire trailer was warm! *When we went to use one of the plastic bowls for salsa it was FULL of spider webs! *bugs everywhere Even tho housekeeping had been there just proior to our arrival, we found a purse in one Of the kitchen cabinets apparently belonging to a prior guest, filled with credit cards!!! We've looked up the owner and are mailing the purse back to her! On the bright side....the manager Scott & his wife were VERY nice and pleasant!! We were there for a fishing tournament and the majority were staying either in the RV sites or cabins. We will def not be returning. read more

We stayed here for spring break 2016. We booked this far in advance before we knew that Texas would have a big flood. We initually were going to be in a canin but they were flooded so we went to a bunk house which was really nice. We had friends with ua and they stayed in one room and us in he other. There were 4 beds in each room all twin size. The rooms were clean and had everything you need for you stay. Fridge, coffee pot, microwave everything. Bathroom with shower. That night the water began to rise so they moved us to the rec center they have on site. This was an amazing place 4 rooms each with 3 beds 2 bathrooms with showers. They gave us access to the kitchen area which had a full kitchen. They have wifi connection but we went during bad weather so didnt get to us it. Also they have direct tv and tvs in all the rooms. Some where updated flat screens others werent but they all worked just fine. There is a fitness room/ laundry room, it has a library which I found awesome. Board games for adults and kids, pool table and foose ball. The lake is beautiful and huge. You can launch a boat and go fishing, we saw alot of big fish while we were her close to the back due to the flooding so I know theres big fish to be found. They have a marina which has a grill also so if you need something they might have it and its reasonably priced. Otherwise its right down the road from Brookshires in Flint or Dollar General and Family Dollars are on each end of e bridge a few miles. read more

We stopped by the grill at the Lake Palestine Resort for a drink on the patio. We have frequented the Resort for years. On this lovely March 2016 afternoon, I ordered a glass of Malbec from the wine list. As the employee started to pour my glass of wine, I noticed that 8/15 was written on the bottle. I asked if the wine had been opened since 8/15 and was told "yes; management told me to serve it until it was gone". I am not a wine snob but I do not drink wine that has been opened for 7 months! That is ridiculous. It is obviously time to find another patio..... read more

First, I would like to say the people that ran the store and greeted us were very helpful and nice. Overall, it was an enjoyable trip once we got over the initial shock since we are "resort and hotel type people. We spent 3 days there last summer. Truly, I probably would have left but we were with a family group and after the initial day, we pulled up our boots straps and enjoyed the rest our trip. We kayaked, fished, and cooked some of our meals. Most of the time, we drove into Tyler due to the heat and the AC did not cool the room fast enough. The people were great and nice. Very helpful. We are actually planning a vacation getaway there again. Very relaxing. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. This weekend our family reunion was held at the resort. Those that brought their own motorhome, RV, or 5th Wheel had a great experience; however, those of us that stayed in the lodging available to rent did not enjoy their stay. The fellowship with my family was great, but I had a miserable 3 day weekend preventing my kids from getting injured in this unsafe, uncomfortable environment. Nails sticking up, holes in the wall, doors that open to a 4 ft drop with no warning, floors so filthy bare feet stick to them and turn black from walking across the floor. The vent-a-hood has no fan and most windows had no screen, so if you opened them your living quarters was swarmed with bugs. Black mold in the shower and around the tub. Piles of sheet metal and glass surrounded our cabin when we arrived and I was given grief initially for asking to have the glass picked up as there would be many children joining us. One guarantee, we will not be back and if those with trailers chose to go again, we will either only come for the day or get a hotel as close as we can find. read more

We read these reviews after we had already made a reservation so physically drove to the property the weekend before the reservation to see the property for ourself. We had been there many years before when there were owners who were very nice, not the previous owners. It has went WAY down hill, very seedy looking. The "cabins" look like outhouses and are right side by side. I don't see how they could possibly be 1-bedroom cabins. The website is VERY misleading. I asked for a confirmation # over the phone and the guy "Earl" who took our CC# said he would send an e-mail confirmation. I did not get it until 2 days later where their terms state you cannot cancel within 14 days prior to reservation without them taking one night's rental. I was talking to him 12 days prior to the reservation so that should really have been mentioned. When we saw it, we knew there was NO way we could stay there. I had wanted to treat our son who is a full-time student and full-time employee at a bank and his girlfriend to a nice relaxing weekend. Well, that went out the window. ): At least we live close so we could go see for ourselves. If I can help even one person who lives out of town to NOT make this mistake, it is worth it. Don't do it!!!! Oh, and the "lodge" rooms weren't really that nice even years ago but at least they were clean and only had decent people on the place. The new owners also ask for a $20 key deposit which tells me they have had a problem with keys not being returned and you know what that means. Stay at your own risk. read more
