We went in on a Friday evening expecting the place to be packed. For some reason this evening it was quiet. The staff were very friendly. I was able to easily order a drink. Our friends were able to easily order food. They got burgers and cheese balls. My friend got a pizza burger. The evening started to get exciting when the lights dimmed and the lasers and black lights started. The price was right for a few games and shoes. We had a really good time bowling and enjoying the music. The staff said usually the Fridays were busier but this one we somehow had the place to ourselves. I would recommend this for a fun night out with friends or family. There are also video games and a full bar. I think we will be back especially if we could party with the place to ourselves.

Wow, I went to the Springbrook Conservation Education Center yesterday and was amazed. There was a…read moreFly Fishing Cabin Retreat for Fly Tying sponsored by the center as well as by Central Iowa Fly Fishing. We stayed in the dorms and had our meals at the dining hall. It is truly a 4 star lodging compared to my previous experience at other camps in PA, MA, and OK. There are tons to do if you want a break from fly tying-- Atl-atl (spear throwing), archery, trail hiking, plus exploring the lake. I went ice fishing for the first time at the park and it was pretty cool. The dorms are great-- hot water and heat a major plus in addition to linens and bath towels. Dining hall is pretty large and food was pretty good with sticky buns for breakfast, soft tacos for lunch, and fried chicken for dinner. Be sure to check out a weekend stay for their education series. You will not be disappointed.

They have the Cattleman's Association's "#2 best burger in Iowa." It's also an old school bowling alley complete with 70's scoring computers and complimented by league photos on the walls from the same decade. I ordered the cheeseburger both times and it was quality, juicy meat, big patty too! Fresh veg and bun. A classic nice big burger cooked well done weather you like it or not. Fine by me. I ordered cheese fries with it which were your basic thin crinkle cut run of the mill cheese fries. Nothing special but still darn good with that burger. Service: just what you want in a dive. The owner/manager lady was all smiles in the newspaper article behind our seats but in person it's another story haha. Apparently it's all bizzness lol. We didn't mind though. It was a Sunday and like I said, this is the ultimate dive so love it up! The first time we did visit though service was very friendly but we had a different waitress. Whenever I'm headed through this area it's where I will stop to eat for sure. Good stuff!
