Hmmmm someone has some explaining to do. One the west side of the lake is a small grass park, picnic and play area. Surrounding trees offer a bit of relief from the sun.

It was a little cool at first but once we warmed up on the trail we started taking layers off. You're pretty much going up hill all the way. It got a rocky part of the way but not to bad. We would stop in the shade for a minute to cool off. Once you get to the trees you haven't much farther to go. The falls weren't as big as I thought it would be but still pretty. I mainly went for the exercise. It's a pretty good hike and I'll definitely go again.

This beautiful area along the Truckee River only spans a few blocks but the path is a lovely 3.5 mile hike. There's plenty to do. There were benches to sit at this park, but they had homeless people setting up camp on them. The park was mostly dirty with trash littered throughout. Several homeless people were lying in the grassy areas. There are no bathrooms at this park. There is no playground equipment at this park. We since moved away from Reno, so it was special to be able to return after all this time with our children. My bias aside though, Im a firm believer there are few parks in the country that are as good as this one. To start, its HUGE! I don't think I've really ever seen the whole thing. There are rolling fields of grass, an "arboretum" which is like taking a walk in the mountains, a lake, playgrounds, a museum, gardens, a dog park, and idk what else. It's so beautiful wherever you go, and you can easily sink a day into exploring here.
