Decided to come on a crowded Sunday afternoon with the hopes of purchasing an ice cream. Mission accomplished. But dang it so crowded! Thank goodness there are many places for large groups here. On the opposite side of the lake there was NOT a lot of people. And still plenty of picnic tables and available barbecues. The sun was extremely hot and the ice cream cold and yummy. Enjoy your life. A Sunday well spent at Lake Sammamish. A gem of a washington lake/beachfront. Parking is so plentiful even if 300 other cars are there, there's still room for you. The restrooms are good. They even have a snack shack if you don't want to bring food and drinks. There is a playground, plenty of picnic benches, shaded areas with trees, large lake front, boat launch, and since we all know Washington beaches are rocky, they have plenty sand pits around as well. Haven't been to the park in over 35 years. Yes, it has improved facilities and just enough water sport vendors to keep everyone on the water. The restrooms could stand to be cleaned throughout the day AND people could take more care when they use the public facilities. There is no excuse for litter and dog poop bags on the ground. I love babysitting my kids here! It's in the suburbs so I don't even have to worry about watching them! I can pick up some local brewskis and watch the moms! Ha ha! But they keep an eye on my littles so I can play on my phone and make the moms around me laugh. I can even go to the bathroom without worrying about them. There's a Costco near so I can grab some hot dogs and it's a cheap way to get them from yelling about food. Bathrooms are clean, bruh! And since it's in the suburbs I don't have to be around woke people who won't shut up about politics. Keep your blue hair on capital hill, dweebs! read more

One of my favourites for sure. Mostly for summer activities. Even if it is busy, you will find a sspot. There are 2 big lots with 2 beaches at the end. You will need your Discovery Pass. There are also beautiful trees for hiking and activities for children. What I like is kayaking or paddle boarding. If you don't have the equipment, they can rent it ay yhe first shore. Pretty easy. They have restrooms next to the store. There's always availability. Water is clear and refreshing. It will be a bit colder on by the deepest parts of the Lake. Some stones at the beach but you can always wear some water shoes. Plants by the sides so be aware. Lots of ducks when there's few people. If you like the shadow and not the sun, there are also tables below the trees. read more

This is a great state park on the eastside, especially for when you're looking to take a swim! Expect a long wait to get into the state park on those hot summer days when everyone wants to visit Lake Samammish State Park. Located conveniently soon after you exit into Issaquah, it's a state park that's accessible and not to be missed. In our most recent visit, we visited in the late afternoon on a Sunday and the place was still packed, with a line, waiting to get in. It's too bad that they don't have a separate line for those who already have a Discover Pass, which is required to get in here. There are multiple parking lots that lead to different beaches. The first parking lot to the left leads you to Tibbetts Beach where you can rent boats, so seemed to be more popular than the other beach that's further down the road. We ended up parking here, and walked over on the trail to Sunset Beach, which seemed to have more room and wasn't as crowded. At Sunset Beach, there were spacious restrooms and bathhouses in the back of the beach, with an area where you can buy ice cream. They also have another trail that leads off to a sandbar, for a more private area. In addition to the beaches, there was plenty of space for grilling, picnicking, lawn games, etc. They also have areas where you can reserve a covered picnic area. Like with most state parks, dogs are allowed! Get here early on a hot day to get a spot on the beach and make reservations online if you want to rent a boat. They go fast! read more

Check out the beautiful Sunset Beach! Cool off in the clear blue lake and stroll along a couple of miles of trails through leafy forests and wetlands. Play sand volleyball or other games on the big grassy areas. Kids of all ages fall in love with the amazing play ground. Grownups can't resist some features, like the super long zip line. I can't believe we missed this park all these years. We visited this park over the weekend and absolutely loved it, great views, and walking path by the lake. There are great amenities, a really nice playground for the kids, lots of restrooms, a swimming area, too cold be be used now. We will back more often. read more

What nice easy walk along the lake and wetlands. Plenty wide enough for lots of walking traffic. It was nice to get out in the sun on a Friday afternoon. More solo short hikes, checking out the lake shore. This trail ties in to others, which can lead to at least a 11 mile hike along the lake. Beautiful views of the houses, boats, hills, forest. Still early enough in fall to see woolly caterpillars and pick blackberries ( look in tips) trail looks like it would be good for any weather hike. The parking lot is also a boat launch site. Be aware you'll need a Discovery pass, seems a lot of the parks and trails require it. I got mine for the year at the North Bend Ace hardware, before hiking Mount Si. If you much hiking in the area, it's worth getting a year long pass. It's nice to have choices for nearby easy and quick hikes. A good one, just to get some exercise on. The kids loved coming here! The Seattle playgrounds are way better than Orange County ones! What's at the Playground: - 3 different kinds of swings - 2 Rope Climbs (1 of them spins, which is unique but also dangerous, so watch your kids on that!) - 2 Musical Xylophones - 1 Big Fortress with numerous swirly slides and straight slides - 1 Small Fortress with two slides - A LOT OF BENCHES to sit and watch There's also a nearby snack shop for ice cream and other snacks, there are port-a-potties, and there's a lake! Lake Sammamish State Park is clean, has loads of space and parking and beautiful clean bathrooms. Long walking trails in the next door fields start at the bridge near the beach- they're great trails. The park is clean and well tended, and now even offers a wheelchair ramp into the water- brilliant! This is a great place to do a family or group picnic. If you do, remember park etiquette - keep your music low enough that no one else has to listen. Many people go to the park to relax and enjoy the quiet. read more

I wish I could have stayed longer! A beautiful waterside park with everything you could ask for: gorgeous views, beaches with volleyball nets, playgrounds, fields, spacious parking lots, and even clean bathrooms. It's a convenient spot to have a barbeque lunch as well. Plenty of picnic tables, benches, and grills are available for use. And be sure to check out Issaquah Paddle Sports to rent a paddle board, kayak, or pedal boat and explore Lake Sammamish. I would have loved to walk more of the trails, but that will have to wait until next time! As this is a state park, a Discover Pass is required for parking. I really wanted to go swimming this weekend. So with a lil research from my friend Sarina, we ended up at Lake Sammamish. This lake is huge I thought! So many different parts to it. Parking pass: Discovery pass needed. Or you pay $10 for a day of parking. It was our first time there, we drove in, found the first parking spot we saw, parked, unloaded and walked to the shore. We didn't research the park that much, so we only saw a little bit of it. There was a volleyball tournament going on this weekend and we didn't want to go near that crowd so we stuck to the left side of the park. The beach area we were at we enjoyed. We laid out a blanket, had a picnic, and floated in the swimming area for a couple hours. I am burnt as a lobster, but happy as a clam that I got some sun this weekend! There's also a rental shack here you can rent paddle boards and what not from. There is bird poo everywhere though, which was kinda annoying. I will be back for another dip though! read more

This is one of the best parks around and so convenient and close to home! We come here often with our kiddo - he loves the beach and the playground! The playground is huge and fairly new and in great condition. There's lots of different types of structures for kids to enjoy. In the summer it does get super busy. We love to picnic here and we've always been able to find a spot even when it's been more packed. We did avoid coming this last summer because of COVID and afraid of how busy it might be, but we came on a drier cold day last month and it was pretty quiet. Still beautiful and we even explored a couple of the short trails. There's always plenty of parking and honestly for the access to this park alone, the annual Discover pass is well worth it. read more

This park is bigger than i thought! It's nice that it has volleyball nets too! But it needs a discover pass to park or pay $10 for the day. Me and my friends went to swim in the lake and play some volleyball. The water was surprisingly very clean. Especially on the north end (?), in the first parking lot on the left as we enter. But the water in the very end was kind of dirty. The bathroom building seems nice though! Oh FYI, there's a lot of poop on the ground. Featuring Lake Sammamish which runs from Issaquah to Sammamish to Redmond, with houses lined along it on one side, the park allows fishing, boating, camping along with advanced reservations for group functions. Over 500 acres, with two baseball fields, sand volleyball, two kids' play areas and horseshoe pits, the park has a lot of room for kids to run around and families to gather for picnics and activities. You can play anywhere on the public beach or grass as well, not just the designated fields so stake your volleyball net right next to the lake if you want to! Lots of picnic tables and BBQ grills. The biggest area that is rentable holds up to 400 people, great for a big family reunion, graduation or company party. In the summer, there's an annual fair. Swimming is permissible in certain areas that are roped off. Parking is not free. Pay at an automated machine or your Discovery Pass will cover you. read more

We booked one of the facilities for a work event. It's nice, you get the cover shelter which includes a fire pit, bbqs, picnic tables, electricity and plenty of space for activities. The team enjoyed the event and making s'mores was the highlight. The reservation was about 150$, book about a month in advance as it get busy in the summer. Note you need a discover pass to park or a daily pass for about 11$. read more

We've been here for numerous large organized events. It is a park that accommodates large groups very well. Facilities are clean and seem well maintained. Great grills and grassy areas - some group sites have covered areas some do not. As well, there seems to be more picnic tables on some sites than on others. I have to admit that I really didn't know that this park existed because I am not usually on the east side. But if you are on the east side it is certainly worth a look. The lake itself is peaceful. While not on the same scale as Lake Washington, it also is more secluded so it is easier to be by yourself. The have a concession stand if you want to get something to eat or drink, although I think the stand is only open during the summer. Make sure that you bring some bread to feed the ducks, and loosen up your arm to skip rocks along the waterfront. It's also a great place to go for a short run if you want to get out of the gym and off the treadmill. For a day out along the water I would suggest going to Kirkland. But if you just want to spend a relaxing couple of hours I would suggest coming here. read more

I love coming to Sammamish Lake! This is such a beautiful area surrounded by so many breathing hiking trails. The park is huge! So many areas for picnic and BBQ, everyone has enough space to spread out comfortably and not have another group hanging out right next to them. It's also very clean, has a decent number of trash cans, water fountains. The hot dogs we bought at the rental/food booth were super juicy and delicious! Or maybe we were just starving... Overall, this is a great park to come hang out with your family and friends, to walk around with your dog, or just lay under the sun and rest. I wish I lived closer! read more

This park is a nice place, with tons of parking (discovery pass required). There's a new playground which is great, I somehow didn't get a picture of it! There's also really nice sand on the beach and it's even more amazing in the summer. The park is used for events like the Lake Sammamish Half Marathon, which ends at Lake Sammamish State Park and lets you enjoy just how nice the park is. Such a big & beautiful spacious park/lake. Was so easy to find. You do need a Discovery Pass and YES there has always been a cop there when we went. The park is clean. They have those huge trash bins , not the small ones. The many other parks (this size) I've been to (not in WA) usually have the regular bins and they're always overfilled (from that day) just seems more smart to have big ones like they have here so things aren't hanging out and flys surround it. Lol. They have trails which was fun. Short but nice scenery and took our kids. It leads to another side where people were fishing and also an area to swim. On the main swimming side (which I saw were 2) they have rentals for kayaking, boarding, etc. cool. They have a concession center to buy food. The plus is that they have life jackets all over. Free of use. It's is rocky so make sure you have swimming shoes if you can't handle it. My family & I enjoy this lake very much. We would leave around 8:30pm and watch the sunset.(summer time) Will continue to come here. read more

Such a huge, huge park! My church has their annual picnic here and it is lovely due to the amazing water, beach, parking space, and scene. I like how big it is and how it is never packed when we come. Make sure you reserve shelter spots if you need it here. The only thing that sucks is the $10 payment for a 1-time entrance, or $30 for a year long pass (actually pretty cheap). There is bird poop everywhere though, FYI. Great for family gatherings, church picnics, BBQs, etc. read more

It is a very beautiful Park and completely renovated. There is a great variety of games for children. The view is beautiful, where mother nature shows the benefits of God's creation, the wonderful lake and some varieties of wild birds. A good place for kids to spend energy and for adults to relax and regain natural energy. read more

We went to the Pacific Northwest Paddling festival hosted in Lake Sammamish State Park this year. The Festival was hosted right next to Lake Sammamish and it's a beautiful place for sure. Unfortunately, the rain has poured down so much recently that the ground nearby the lake sort of turned into a swamp/muddy space. Overall, I can see this place having potential as a good hang out place for paddlers in the summer though. Note: bring your discovery pass parking if you have one. Else parking is $10/day or you can just get a new annual discovery and pay $30 for the whole year. Plenty of parking space available! read more

This is one of the biggest parks that I've been to in this area. I was a little surprised by the parking fee, but I ended up buying the Discover Pass anyway for future hikes and what not. There are a lot of parking spots within the park and lots of public benches as well. The nice part is that it's basically a beach park too (keep in mind that this means it's a Seattle beach)... It's really gorgeous when it's sunny and it's a great place to bring friends, family, dogs, etc. The Foam Fest 5K run is taking place here later this month and I can't wait to see what the layout will be! read more

This is one amazing park - million dollar playground, sandy beaches, and trails to walk or bike on! Lots of easy parking and we've had many a playdates here to hang out, socialize and enjoy the sun!
