Nice park in the Oak Ridges neighborhood of Richmond Hill. One of the only lakes in the GTA where you can do water sports in calm water such as kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing. There is a very small beach - Sunset Beach where you can launch your watercraft. Don't advise swimming in the lake - probably high bacterial counts. There's a nice trail and boardwalk close to the beach and some picnic areas a bit higher up along with a splash pad. Plenty of parking - free if Richmond Hill resident with pass. Others have to pay. Gets very busy on Summer weekends. read more

The park is not very big, but it has a splendid view of the lake and is very nice to go for a walk/run or biking. It doesn't have a lot of parking spaces and if you arrive early, you will be lucky to find an empty spot. Even then, you have to pay at least an hour parking fee to park there; which I believe maybe 1/2 hour would be enough for a small park. There is a paved walkway along the waterfront and you can enjoy the nice scenery during your walks. You also can use the designated area to load your canoe, or you can go to the canoe club and rent one. The washrooms are now closed due to COVID-19 pandemic. read more

This park is a true natural beauty. Everyone we visit this park it's only a pleasure and awe. The park has multiple parking locations and with ample parking spaces. The parking is paid and can be paid for by either the parking meters installed at the park or through the website (the QR code on the meters or use the site https://parkedin.com/?). It's all beautifully laid, you can see people kayaking, rowing, etc. it's a quiet park, I'd say. As you can see, the sunset views are astonishing. I just couldn't take my eyes off of it. All in all, I highly recommend this park for all ages. read more

My recent visit to the ice cream truck left me with a sour taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. The server's behavior was shockingly rude, not only towards me but also in front of my daughter. When he realized I didn't have cash and the payment policy was only mentioned on a tiny piece of paper, he threw the ice cream down and even resorted to using offensive language. It was an unacceptable display of unprofessionalism, especially in the presence of a child. I hope for better experiences elsewhere in the future. Other than that, the view of the lake was breathtaking, and the splash park was so much fun. It's the kind of place where you can easily spend the whole day, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and cooling off in the splash park. Beautiful park for a casual stroll. It's not intense and really scenic. There's a skate park and playground for kids. Parking in the summer is a bit tough. The community centre was charging for parking at one point. The lake area is nicely constructed and perfect for taking pictures. read more

I finally came here again after the whole construction is done during the past summer. The new parking lot was fully occupied in the afternoon. I ended up parked at the Community Centre locates next to the park. There were lots of people, both adults and kids, enjoying the new facilities, like picnic area and kids playground. If you prefer to relax a bit quietly with a view of the Wilcox Lake, I suggest the area located next to the Canoeing hut. People were laying on the grass either with their dogs or kids, chatting, reading or having a table-setting picnic like us lol. Some kids were playing with the sands nearby the water. Some people were dipping in the water, or canoeing. This area is not big but definitely a good place to chill for the neighbourhood. read more

I LOVE LAKE WILCOX PARK. You can't beat the huge playground, the splash pad, the walking trail/paths, the green space, the clean washrooms!, and of course the VIEW. We went with the kids one afternoon, not telling them where we were going and once we pulled in it was hard to keep them in the car! We had a snack first at the covered tables, played at the playground, then went for nice walk along the lake. It wasn't warm enough yet to check out the splash area, but we enjoyed ourselves none the less. I highly recommend it for some easy fun time with the kids! read more

The Town of Richmond Hill has really done it this time... but why after I leave my long time home do you do it... and so darn well! Previously, anyone who had visited the "shore line" of what used to be called Sunset beach park, could describe it as a hillbilly holiday. Burnt out picnic shelters, limited walking, over grown green space, unofficial fire pits and a really rough looking overall water front littered with broken glass, dead/dying trees and garbage... Fast-forward to this spring, and things are starting to look pretty amazing along Sunset Beach Rd. A new boardwalk (an actual boardwalk) complete with gorgeous flowerbeds, a walkway that will extend out and over the water in a gorgeous arc, copper/bronze statues and figurines and the whole area is looking spic and span. You might even say it's got... new park smell! But the town isn't done yet, they've got plans that are almost finished which include a splash pad for the kids and a revitalized park and picnic area! Definitely a stay-cation destination for this summer, and for those fellas looking for the opportunity to pop the big question on a beach on the cheap... don't do an all inclusive in the islands.... just wait for a warm summers night and head to this board walk at sunset, she won't be disappointed! read more

This is a lovely park to bring the family or if you want to take a sunset stroll with a loved one. This place is beautiful! Parking is relatively close to the waters. We parked at the community center. There was an assortment of statues along the way so you never get bored with the scenery. If I lived here, I would frequent this place all the time. read more

I was here for a picnic recently and I must say this spot has something for everyone. The space itself is huge with all sorts of amenities. There was a water park, jungle gym, tons of picnic benches, a paved walkway along the waterside and washrooms. The park was very busy on a Saturday afternoon with everyone out with their families. You are allowed to bring your own bbq and food. There are tons of garbage cans set up to keep the park clean. There are tents set up as well for shade and one spot in the center has a huge tent with about 6 tables underneath. The lake itself was very clear and tons of ducks that day swimming around. Although I wish people would not feed the ducks as it is not good for them. There should be so more enforcement to protect the wildlife. There are 2 parking lots for this park and we did not have any trouble finding a spot which is a surprise. There were a lot of bugs though but that is unavoidable sigh. read more

This is one of the coolest spots in Richmond Hill, and I didn't even know it was here for a long time. Was looking for a nice outdoor spot to visit before the summer ended and happened to come across Lake Wilcox Park. An awesome walkway surrounding a lake, with a water park and even a beach! Everything seemed very well kept and just made the visit very welcoming. An amazing place to just hangout and relax on a beautiful day. The beach itself wasn't much, more of a spot for kayaks and canoes to get in the water, but it was still a decent beach for something within the city. Parking can get quite confusing, but you can always park at the community centre to the side and walk in. Would definitely recommend this spot for a local day-getaway! read more

Great park for a family weekend to enjoy bbq at the newly open playground . There are public washroom available as well. U can enjoy boating, fishing , walking, jogging , biking as well. The lake is pretty clear at times but swimming is not recommended. Plenty of parking spots but first come first serve. Only restricted area for anyone that wants to fish. My mom and I usually come here to fish once a week. There is a boat club ,but I do not know if u can get just rent a boat or sign up for a membership to rent a boat. read more

I remember when you could drive right around Lake Wilcox. I was here yesterday and i must say the transformation along with the New Community Centre has been an improvement. A wonderful place to park and enjoy an afternoon. It's about 7km to walk right around the lake which is what i did. A great view of the lake from the back terrace of the Centre, nice walking trails, they've added stone and metal sculptures and now they are in the beginning phase of another promenade boardwalk. The city of Richmond Hill has destroyed this once beautiful and peaceful place. Yes, the new renovations are quite nice, but by allowing so much high density (and not so nice looking) new housing to go up on the east side of Bayview, has caused the lake to become too overcrowded. Not only that, but the demographics in the area have greatly changed over the years with many newcomers, particularly from Asia. Many of the visitors to the lake don't have the same respect for the natural surroundings, as the previous residents once had. On numerous occasions I've noticed individuals littering and fishing in the area, even though the signs are clearly marked. There needs to be more enforcement to ensure the lake doesn't become an eyesore with littered trash everywhere. read more
