This review is for the South side of Lake Worth Beach…read more Lake Worth Beach is the closest beach to me, and although I used to mainly only go to Kreusler Park adjacent to this, I have now begun hitting the opposite end, the very South Side of the beach. I park at the City parking pass spots on the bottom parking level, just in front of the grassy little hill, and let my kids run in the grass and climb the trees in the top part while I unload the car. Then we walk a short distance to the very South beach access. This part of the beach is lovely, usually you can walk out really far in the water, no rocks, fish around. The bathrooms are in a little building along here that also has an overhand where people gather when it rains, and the roundabout for pickups/drop offs makes this super convenient. I don't like the fake pigeon squawks, which are really annoying if you're hanging in the picnic area near here under the trees, which is where I usually have my kids eat instead of lugging food down to the beach. And the only 1 shower thing is frustrating, but otherwise, this is a lovely spot!

Perhaps this is due to the location (hidden behind a tennis center and next to the palm beach island golf course), odd parking (either very expensive or a few farther spots free for part of the year and during certain times), or the need to climb a small hill to get to the beachfront. Incredible things about it: fairly secluded a huge grassy area with picnic tables and some top of the hill thatched pavilions. the beach often forms a little river of water seperate from the ocean that is great for kids the rocks: in calmer water, these rocks attract sea creatures and fish. You can snorkel and see awesome things just a foot from shore. The rocks are mostly flat so can perch on them if needed. they have some of the best showers, the ones at the bathrooms, which are close to where you park and not just where you leave the beach, plus there are bushes to hang your towels on and some privacy unlike many showers around.

Jewell Cove Natural Area is located across the street from the Lake Worth Municipal Park. It is…read morejust South of the Lake Ave. Bridge along Ocean Ave. on the east side of the Lake Worth Lagoon. This natural area is a maritime hammock which is a natural band of forest that grows on the stabilized back dunes of barrier islands. This natural area is 11.4 acres with 1,200 feet of shoreline on the Lake Worth Lagoon. In February 1967 this land was leased for 99 years to the Milton Steinhardt family. In 2012, Judge Raphael Steinhardt, grandson of Milton Steinhardt relinquished the lease so that the land could be donated to the City of Lake Worth to be enjoyed by the public. This parcel has now been turned into a nature preserve, nine acres of which are submerged so that mangroves and sea grasses can grow. A maritime hammock community makes up another 2 and 1/2 acres. In 2015 and 2016 volunteers removed exotic plants. Fifteen truckloads were removed along with concrete material that had been dumped to prevent erosion. Three thousands tons of limestone were then installed to create a breakwater that prevents erosion and creates a habitat for oysters which filter the water. Clean sand was added and sea grass and mangroves were planted. The mangroves also filter out pollutants and acts as a marine life nursery. The marsh grass breaks up wave energy and provides a wildlife habitat. The Jewell Cove Natural Area serves as a refuge to the animals of the Lake Worth lagoon. This includes osprey, tricolored heron. snowy egret, little blue heron, and white ibis. Plants found here include coralbean, cabbage palm, sea grape, strangler fig, sand cordgrass, green buttonwood, and mangroves. There is a hiking trail through the preserve and you can launch a kayak on the Lake Worth Lagoon but the main benefit of this preserve is to improve the health of the Lake Worth Lagoon ecosystem. In 2019, the commission voted to put on the ballot a 99-year lease on Jewel Cove's 11.4 acres submerged along the Intracoastal and to keep the land on the southeast side of the bridge a natural area. This ensures that the area stays a natural living shoreline, protected by Palm Beach County. The county will not be able to build on the land and it will be maintained as a sanctuary.

Although most of the time it's a walk through or stroll by rather than sitting on the beach itself and catching some rays. We had come for lunch across the street from the beach. There several restaurants from which to choose. Dining outside we were able to see everything, smell the sea air and hear the ocean. After lunch, we walked over closer. You walk down stairs at this point to get to the beach. As usual, on a weekend, the area right by the lifeguard station tower was packed. This beach has facilities, showers, picnic areas and grills. It also has the fishing pier. Almost 2 and a half miles of beach on the Atlantic Ocean. It's a great place for locals and tourists. Locals can get annual parking passes. Regular parking is $4 an hour. Unfortunately, the day we came the ocean was rough with rip tides, and jelly fish (eek!), so swimming was being restricted to close by the shore. And this kept us from putting our feet in the water and walking along the beach edge. The lifeguards were doing a good job policing with their whistles to keep folks from venturing too far out in the ocean. We will be back soon.

This hidden gem is now known as President Gerald R. Ford Lantana Bicentennial Park, renamed in 2007 to honor President Ford's 1976 visit commemorating the nation's 200th anniversary. Today, it's a peaceful and well-maintained waterfront spot right at the base of the bridge. The park offers a great mix of amenities, including picnic tables, grills, a playground, a picnic pavilion, a spacious green lawn, and clean restrooms. There's also a seawall and a fishing pier, making it a great place to cast a line or just relax by the water. Directly across the way, Sportsman Park provides even more fishing opportunities. The pavilion can be reserved through the city, but the picnic tables and grills are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is metered unless there's a special event, in which case the city provides a shuttle. Lantana also hosts community events here, including Fourth of July celebrations and a local green market. Even on a regular day, though, it's a perfect spot to sit along the water, take in the scenic views of Lake Worth Lagoon, and watch the boats drift by.

The signage and park also honors former President Gerald Ford. In front of the park sign, and in front of all the flagpoles, there's a separate small stone slab highlighting each armed services branch including the coast guard. Behind the signage is a large art installation. And there's a small butterfly sculpture nearer the waterway. The park is located on the north side of Ocean Avenue just west of the bridge going over the Intracoastal. There's a nice sized playground area -- including structures to climb and slide on, and also a set of swings. A few kids were loudly enjoying this. There's a covered pavilion; and bathroom facilities; there are benches spaced periodically. And a walkway along the wall running along the waterway. A fisherman was trying his hand from the side nearer the bridge. And a few folks were just enjoying the water views from benches and taking a "me" break. My husband is already planning to come back here to fish. And I'll be bringing a good book to enjoy while he catches us dinner.

Due to erosion the beach access is limited and at high tide the beach all but disappears. But the waves and the ocean view can be enjoyed from the boardwalk. Adding to the fact that there are "hidden" rocks aka submerged boulders in the water, you have to be a bit careful here. The beach park has a playground and swings, a sand volleyball court, picnic grills and tables and a rental pavilion. It's open sunrise to sunset. No dogs or fishing. And the dunes and plants are "protected". Still I love a beach no matter what. The sound of the waves, the smell of the sea air, the feel of the water all call to me in some mystical fashion. Soothing. Calming. Spiritual. Mysterious.

We walked about 10 minutes over the long wooden bridge leading from the park to the beach. There is a free golf cart ride available from 10am - 4pm, although I do recommend the walk for the experience itself. It was so beautiful, especially at dusk. The beach was absolute perfection! It was so clean and calm, a welcomed break from the crowds of the popular touristy locations. Perfect for relaxation. The water was perfect a temperature and clear. I plan on returning for their kayaking/paddle board experiences and other activities!

We overslept for the sunrise but got here in time to find plenty of parking at 8am. The parking lot…read moreabsolutely fills up during the morning as there were people circling around when we departed at around 10am. The park spans both sides of the land with features on both the Intracoastal Waterway side of A1A and the ocean side with a narrow pedestrian walkway under the bridge on both sides of the inlet. A playground, restrooms, park space and then the "show" of watching boaters try to make their way. It's a tremendous thing to watch as these folks go too slow or too fast against the current and around the small bend to get between the Ocean and the Inlet. Sadly, I've only been able to see them on the Youtube channel as the two boats this morning both chickened out. Still, a fabulous spot to get near the water and beaches.
