This place has a couple of names, Municipal Beach and Phipps Ocean Park. I like the latter as it is describes it better. There's a north and south parking lot, the latter having much more parking spots. Both have restrooms. In the middle is a fenced yard filled with city machinery. Next to that, is the historic Red Schoolhouse. The beach is very wide and deep, and clean! You basically walk up a hill to get to that area from the parking lot. Once on the beach the sand is really clean and the water crystal clear. We had a wonderful time relaxing here as it wasn't that busy on a Friday afternoon. Parking in the lots is your standard $5 per hour plus tax. You can use the ParkMobile app to reserve and extend the times.

One of my favorite things about this beach is that it is extremely quiet and has very few people at it. My friends and I have come to this beach several times throughout the year, and every time we are impressed at how peaceful it is. Parking is incredibly easy. You can find simple, paid street parking lining the entire beach. There is always tons of spots available, so you will never be searching for long. The beach itself is very clean. The sand doesn't have many other materials mixed in it, which allows for a very smooth and pleasant experience. You will see a long line of seaweed at low tide, but this is natural. At high tide, the beach looks pristine. The water is incredibly warm. Even on cold days, you can expect it is water to feel quite warm to the touch. If you're looking for watching the sun, this beach is good for sunrises as you can see it out on the horizon while sitting on the sand.

    Arms on point!! :))))

Main parking is closed , heavy construction at this address. We couldn't find anywhere else to park so we slipped this beach altogether

Everything you need, nothing you have to pay extra for. That alone earns five stars. But the real magic is what surrounds you once you get out there. The reefs right off the beach are incredible for snorkeling. We are talking vibrant fish, clear visibility, and that feeling of stumbling into another world just steps from shore. Today we launched our inflatable paddle boards right from Ocean Reef and paddled all the way down to the Pumphouse and back, a solid 2.7 miles of crystal clear blue water, warm summer sun, and zero crowds. The water was that perfect shade of turquoise that makes you forget you are in Florida and feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean. Whether you are coming to snorkel the reefs, SUP the Intracoastal, throw something on the grill, or just plant yourself on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in South Florida, Ocean Reef Park delivers every single time. Highly recommend. Five stars does not even cover it.
