It was during my birthday weekend so I got to do what I wanted, and that was part of what I wanted to do. There's a lot of reasons to come most importantly everybody's like Family. Nobody's coming to your door on Sunday if you happen to miss a day but you will hear from Pastor Keith if he hasn't seen you because he knows everybody's name and wants to give encouragement . Due to our…read morehome address we were assigned to vote here, so I'm going to give my review based on our voting experience. The location is perfect, I absolutely had NO problems with finding the place. There were a lot of open parking spaces and the staff parked on the other side of the building; making it convenient for the voters to come in. We arrived just before 7am of polls and doors opening and had the front parking space. There were about 15-20 people in line and plenty of shade, thank you for that! I can recall previous locations waiting in the sun! Anyway, parking lot had much shade and the lines were shaded, underneath their covered areas. It only took about 15 minutes to waiting in line and vote! Great experience, especially for my son; the first time voter!

I walked around the property and it is a nice and quiet place, surrounded by trees. There is a lot of parking space, and this church probably uses that space also for community work and activities. Everything is well kept and clean. I came because I like anything that is related to the Catholic saint Francis of Assisi. I was on my way to Tavares and since I was driving near Apopka, I thought that it would be a nice and quick stop on the way to my final destination. I am not Christian or Catholic, not do I belong to any religion, yet I understand the importance of religions in people's life as a way for guidance and reference. I prefer to understand all religions and work with their belief systems, something that is called "omnism". On my visit I saw a lot of people of color. Also, a lot of people were speaking Spanish, actually one of the persons welcoming people asked me in Spanish where I was from and all that stuff. He thought he was an undercover cop or something, as well as a greeter and maybe some type of priest. I saw a few people wearing white, maybe they were doing communion or something. I did not stay for the service or special occasion ceremony, I just wanted to visit the grounds dedicated to San Francis of Assisi and his order of Franciscans.

It is…read morea larger church but still maintains a loving atmosphere where every member and every visitor is important. I was impressed upon my first visit because I'm not accustomed to attending a larger Independent Baptist Church. The size wasn't what impressed me though. The 70+ member choir was nice; the 15+ member orchestra...very nice; members who are happy & willing to visit guests to the church who are open to church visits is nice; but what impressed me most was that two of the front row sections were filled with some youth of the church. This alone wasn't solely what impressed me about the youth. When a member informed me that this group of youth took it upon themselves to sit up front...the Pastor or Pastoral team did not ask them to do so and neither did the Youth Leaders. To see young men and women who choose not only to be in church but sit up front...the world appears to have so much to offer their peers and they choose Christ. Bravo young men and women of Volusia County Baptist Church. I enjoyed the messages by the Pastor. I do want to keep updated on events they are having. One yearly event I'm definitely looking forward to is their Christmas gift to the community where they host a Journey To Jerusalem (that might not be the actual event name but close). I was able to attend last Christmas season but definitely plan to visit them this Christmas season. Don't let the size of the church be a deciding factor. Even though it's a larger congregation than I've ever been a member of...you AREN'T just a number. To explain my last comment I'll share this...my roommate and I were eating at our favorite restaurant in Deland recently. The Pastor of Volusia County Baptist Church & his wife and another couple were seated at the table beside us. Even though it had been months since my visit to the church the Pastor remembered me. Anyway, I can testify that this church teaches and preaches sound Doctrine NOT headlines, social commentary, or some "feel good" message. They teach and preach God's Word...the Holy Bible. So this is my unbiased observation of Volusia County Baptist Church. Btw, I like their Associate Pastor as well. He and I happen to be Carolina guys. Just threw that last comment to give a thumbs up to another South Carolina fellow.

From the very first time visiting, they welcomed our family with open arms. The moment we walked in, our hearts knew this was our place. "Wat", no reviews? Let me fix that. This is a pretty hidden Buddhist temple, aka "Wat" that is…read moreutilized mostly by local Lao and Thai people for events and religious use. The location is very humble in a residential neighborhood located off of state road 46 in Sanford. The ground is mostly grass and unpaved with a large field/parking area. Towards the corner of the area is the actual temple with a huge bodhi tree, offering area with incense, and gilded statue likenesses of the Buddha. I've only been here for social events held during Asian new year and different food festivals. The area has minimal shade, but mostly it's very warm so bring sunglasses and sunblock for daytime events. Bring a folding chair if you plan to sit or a beach towel. The events held here are always cash only, so if your find yourself heading here for food or new year festivities, bring cash. If you don't spend all your money on food or beer, you can usually pick up some nice Lao/Thai cooking instruments or food items to go. Also the temple is always happy to accept donations for the local Monks of cash or food offerings. Be warned, there are only two bathrooms located near the temple area and the lines are long during popular festivals. Enjoy coming here for special events and it's a nice reprieve from the hectic Central Florida lifestyle. Things seem to move slower here and it's a nice place for self reflection...and the occasional serving of papaya salad.

There are interspersed gardens of palms and citrus trees with a small structure toward the east end of the property. Festivities are infrequent but seem to bring devout Thai, Lao, Cambodian practitioners from miles around. We were welcomed to cite our prays inside the temple which was beautifully adorned with offerings and Buddha statues. Buddhist temples are a sacred place for prayer and reflection. All are welcome to practice and pray within. Would like to be here when there is a festival. Please post if anyone knows a date of a celebration.
