After constant billing errors with our last company,we switched to Lakeshore. We've been with them for a few months now, and I can say, we are very happy with them. Our rep, Jim D. is amazing, he oversees our accounts personally and you can pick up the phone, call him and he'll answer! Nowadays that's kinda rare. Wow these guys are really really bad. Last year, my neighbor was watching when the trash truck set one of my trash cans down in the icy snow and it cracked over my trashcan. She saw it happen and she called me to tell me. I literally called them 11 times asking them to come replace the trash trashcan that they broke. 11 times. That's gotta be your record. And the reason I'm writing this now is because I told them I was moving out on October 15 and they have continued to charge me every month and now it's mid January. They're still charging me. They're ignoring my calls and my emails. I don't know if you can choose somebody else though, but if you can, definitely do. They don't even put any minimal effort at all into this. Avoid LRS if at all possible. Unfortunately for us they are the only firm the village uses. We scheduled ahead for appliance take away - moved it out to the curb- paid the $40 plus dollars in stickers only for them to miss the pick up. Contacted them on three different occasions with 3 different people - all told they would call dispatch. Never came. Finally found someone who said it had been scheduled to the next week - had people coming over for a party had to pay $200 for another firm to remove. They said they would give $20 credit for inconvenience. Horrible customer service who could not give an answer. Would have taken less than 5 minutes to dispatch someone and pick it up. Terrible. Called twice for carpet pickup. Said I could leave it at the curb and they never took it. Their website states less than 50# on bulk items. Ended up calling, again, they said I could drop it off. Got there and they said there would be a fee and was also told that they did in in-fact pickup 4 rolls, they did not. LRS has been our trash & recycling provider for several years & is the contracted provider thru our County. First we had very inconsistent service for several months. That was resolved but now we've had billing issues. LRS is paid thru auto-pay w/ my bank. However, they have now mis-applied my funds twice & even though my bank has provided proof of payment I am still getting constant texts & phone calls regarding delinquent payment. Welcome to the swamp company. A simple request to get seasonal yard waste pickup has been met with clericals who don't know what the status of the account is. That is, when one reaches a human. Currently, while yelping about LRS (this review), the hold waiting time has been over 25 minutes. There is the insincere, meaningless 'apologize for the wait'. The option is to choose call back, but they don't call back. Thus, tortured waiting to speak to someone. If you're a fan of tinny piano music while holding--this is the place. It's interesting that when one calls the first phone option is to report a missed pickup. This falls into the category of 'if I could, I would give this business a zero star ranking'. After 35 minutes of hold, yard waste service was arranged. We'll see. read more

Terrible services. We've been having issues since August with infrequent pick up. We are lucky if our recycling gets picked up every two week and we are paying very expensively for weekly services. If you're reading this and thinking about choosing LRS for your waste management service, back away slowly, and go elsewhere. I will cover three areas that I think are instrumental in why this is likely the worst run business I've ever seen: 1. Cost: Services have risen over 150% from 2021 to 2025. All of these increases were done without any notice. Service agreement you say? What's that? 2. Customer service: multiple emails unreturned, no one answers the phone, no response at all. 3. Service: They seem to pick up the trash, so that's great. Unless it's a holiday, snows, or you need a change in service- if so, see #2. In short, this is a crap organization that will take you for any dollar they can. Especially if they see you on Autopay. And to LRS: don't bother trying to get me to change this review. Horrible service. They miss our building's trash and recycling pickup days about 40% of the times. Calls and e-mails to complain get you nowhere. They are truly incompetent and escalating any issues makes them rude and I would argue that they retaliate by missing more pick up services. Their prices rise often and compared to four other companies we got quotes from, they are the most expensive in our neck of the woods. They will hold on to contract terms if you want to terminate it while they do not comply with their part of the deal at all. Stay away! read more

If i could give them a 0, I would. Christmas tree has been sitting on the curb since beginning of January. Called on 01/26/2026 for a missed pick up and was told a work order was put in for pick up on 01/28/2026. Tree was not picked up so I called back and was told tree was too big and needed to be cut down for pickup on 02/04/2026. I guess they were afraid they were gonna break a nail by picking it up? Tree was cut down and guess what? As of 02/12/2026, tree is still on the curb. ABSOLUTELY WORST SERVICE EVER. I will be contacting my village to see what alternatives we have for service providers. Called LRS on multiple different occasions. Sometimes they pick up, most of the time they don't. If you do speak with someone, 9/10 you will be transferred to someone else "who can help." I have also spoken to not one but several extremely RUDE employees. They acted as if I was inconveniencing THEM!!! We just changed addresses, I just wanted to update my information. It has taken multiple calls/emails and the situation is still unresolved. Someone said it so accurately, this company deals with garbage and their customer service is garbage. Terrible. Do not do business with this company. I signed a contract with Advanced Disposal in 2019. LRS bought them out a year or two ago. Since then they have raised my price 300%. There are fees on the bill that did not exist before they are simply making things up to charge more. I asked to cancel the contract which was signed in 2019. They told it me automatically renewed for another 5 years in 2024 and they want approximately $3000 to cancel it. When I complained they had their lawyer contact me and threaten to take me to court. Apparently they can raise their prices however much they want whenever they want and this is totally ok. Even if I have to pay the the $3000 I will recoup that money in about 10 months. I will save $300 per month by switching to another garbage service. Avoid this company like the plague. read more

In our area anytime there is national holiday in a week it takes them forever to get back on track. In the meantime dumpsters are over-flowing with garbage onto the ground/parking lot. Hasn't been dumped now in about 12 days and it's supposed to be once ever week. Anyone can understand a day or so delay with a holiday, but...... And the thing is this has happened several times before, same problem. One time it was about two weeks before it finally got dumped. I AM the daughter and I am representing my 90 year old mother ON A FIXED BUDGET. LRS RECYCLING CONTINUES TO CHARGE my mother for services that have NOT been received. She never signed a contract with them the city we live in did. TODAY our bill is over 1000$ and continues to increase although they have not provided services for 1 year and 6 months. This is illegal yet large companies continue to do what they want. I have filed complaints with the company. It took them 4 months to come up with the initial resolution a year ago and I waited 2 additional months for a response. THEN they changed the amount and still wanted us to pay for several months of no services provided. I contacted all upper management and they had a sales person call me trying to manipulate me into paying for services not provided. How they are able to do this? I have also contact the BBB with no response. LRS TOOK NO ACTION!!!! PLEASE help if you know where else I may be able to file a complaint. No wonder they grew so fast. They have failed to credit payments, and have suspended our commercial service three time now by not applying payments. They do pick up the phone for commercial customers. They missed recycling pickup in my area twice in the past month. They kept promising a rescheduled pickup but it never happened. Liars! I have contacted LRS multiple times at the email provided. Each time I receive an apology and a promise that the next day a reschedule pickup will occur. There is NO point in contacting customer service if they just tell you a lie. Either a rescheduled route was entered into their system or it was not. This company drivers are the worst I have ever seen in my life (Gurnee) area. The driver makes no attempt to do there job right. I tossed out a toilet and had it in a construction bag didn't even get out of his truck. I reside in Elgin and recent switch to LRS has been terrible. It is more expensive, yet they do a horrible job. One time they damaged my gutter during a pick up- they come late in the evening, and sometimes they leave trash and refuse to return. The customer service line never answers, return calls or emails. We live in Northbrook and I'm really happy with the quality of service we've received through LRS. A shout out to Jasmine in customer service who helped me with furniture pick up. I had contacted so many charities about furniture I wanted to donate-with photos. Some of these 'charities' were scams: pay for your 'donation' to be picked up for $150 and then another 'donation' to dispose of it. And lots of the charities don't even want it: Habitat, Salvation Army, Goodwill. I didn't want to list on Facebook, because I needed these items removed quickly. While the actual service has mostly been fine (except for one missed pick-up which took them 4 days to rectify), their communication skills and transparency are lacking. In July 2024, the invoice went up nearly 6%. No advance notice in the April 2024 invoice nor any explanation in the July 2024 invoice. When I contacted Customer Service, their response was rather misleading / disingenuous: "We notify of new charges on the invoice below the new charges line.". Yes, the new changes are listed. I wish I could recommend the service used by my condo association, but they are consistently awful. They will skip or miss pickups, and every time you call, exposed to be on hold for at least 10 minutes. Don't take my word for it- try yourself! Call their number and hit "3" for residential. You won't be answered any time soon. Last two times I called, someone answered, asked a question, then she put me on hold literally mid-sentence. They will promise a scheduled pickup, or a re-visit for a missed pickup, and no one shows up. They will forget to lock your dumpster (and they have the only key) meaning that your trash WILL be strewn across the alley way. Run, don't walk, from LRS. Just moved to Grayslake and trying to set up my account with my bill, but I keep getting the "this account is already registered" message. Its not registered to any of my emails. When I try to contact them by phone, and email, I get no answer, I even tried to contact them by IG over a month ago....nothing. Now I've left messages on FB, IG and under their posts. Lets see if they get back to me? Groot is a way cheaper and more responsive company. I will try and get us changed to them maybe. Just have to find out who is in charge of deciding what service we get. All I see are bad reviews and new customers having to try and contact a company who doesn't know how to hire people to answer the phone and when they do its very unprofessional and they don't know what they are talking about. 45 min is toooooooo long to wait on the phone, I sent emails 2 times, no answer from the one a few days ago, but they could make sure they posted on social media.....maybe have that person answer the phone.....I know the business lady will reply with a I'm sorry, please call or email...can I get a direct line? or direct email? because the normal ones don't work. Our municipality got a contract with LRS and we've had nothing but problems- in the first 6 weeks, they missed our cans twice- and reaching them is difficult- looooooong wait times. We were set up for yard waste and without notice, they cancelled yard waste pick up-- AFTER agreeing to pick it up twice, with rescheduling dates agreed upon and AFTER THEY SOLD ME $45 in stickers- after a month, they still haven't picked up our spring yard waste- even though they agreed to -- still waiting for return calls to resolve this issue-- If you can find another provider like GROOT who used to service our area-- do it!!! read more

Another missed pick up from the napoleon Michigan location. No notification sent again. I was informed they didn't work at all yesterday due to the weather so now we won't get a pick up until next week, but no credit will be issued as they are "picking up the same amount of trash"!? Strangely enough I drive to work, all of my route drivers drove to work, ups, fed ex and usps all delivered to us yesterday. I guess LRS is better than everyone else to get to pick and choose what days they work. There have been numerous issues with this place. The bad reviews are all true. :( read more
