DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE. The doctor is a greedy guy, looking to do the most minimal amount of work for an outrageous price. I took my kitten here and paid $300 (already incredibly high for 15 minutes of the "vets" time, and around $100 in medicine. I looked it up). I was told to come back in a couple weeks and for 5 minutes of the "vets" time I was charged $120 and told to come back the next day with a poop sample. What a joke to the good American people I served to protect. I can't believe a place like this is able to stay in business when they screw over all of Waterford. Over two decades I've lived here and this is what it's coming to. If this is how they treat a Marine, imagine how they'll treat you. And on top of it that, for over a month of reminding them multiple times they couldn't even spell my name correctly. STAY CLEAR FROM HERE. 0 Stars! We started taking our pets to LAH during COVID as we could be with our dog/cat during examinations. I appreciated this approach as I always want to accompany my pets through examination. Ultimately though, we switched vets as Dr. Brooks was dismissive of my concerns about my dog's health. At one point, I asked him to take X-rays to ensure the dog's arthritis was not worsening and he refused saying they weren't necessary. When I tried to insist something was wrong with her, he asked where I obtained my veterinary degree. When we switched vets, they listened to my concerns, did a full work-up, and found both Cushing's disease and liver cancer. Perhaps if we'd caught the cancer sooner, we'd still have her today. read more

Not a kind place to take your pet. I have spent many years working with dogs and am a breeder. I wanted some pricing for one of my clients and was put on hold for almost 10 minutes. Once I was able to speak with the receptionist, I was rudely cut off before I finished my sentence and was hung up on before I even had finished the conversation. Not great communication and not good people skills at this place. Unkind, rude, impatient and extremely expensive. I felt like I was being talked down to like a 5 year old. I'd give zero stars if I could. I needed to get some shots for my Pit, who is the biggest angel there is. No one had an issue with her there, people thought she was adorable, well duh. Then we get into the room.. we get the shots, but I had a very important question about my dogs mouth/teeth since they seemed to be getting worse despite brushing them, giving her nylabone teeth cleaners, and using a PH balanced mouth spray. This vet straight up told me her mouth was fine, keep doing what I'm doing, and it was because "she eats a real food diet so she is bound to have build up. It's not a big deal." Fast forward a few months later of me doing what I've been doing and it's gotten worse. Now, her mouth smells and when I go to brush her right side she yelps because there is obviously pain. I'm just confused. What the F. Don't go to school to treat animals if you don't really want to help. Don't lie to patients who go out of their way to tackle a problem with their dog or become more educated since you obviously have no clue. read more

We use to see another vet at this practice and never had any issues with her. She was wonderful! I have had two different dogs, years apart, have issues with the owner Dr. Brooks, both times he was rude and talked over me and made me feel as if I was stupid for asking questions. After the first incident where he was rude and not friendly with my 3 legged Pitty mix I asked to only see the female docs working there. For years we had no incidents, that dog passed away from lymphoma. Once I got my second Pitty mix we continued to see the female and she discovered at his first visit that he did not like being restrained so she would distract him with treats and toys and give vaccines and draw blood while he was distracted. We only go about once a year so it wasn't a big deal to her to take the extra time. This most recent visit was terrible! First off the staff did not tell me that both the other vets had left the practice and only Dr. Brooks was left. The techs came in didn't even greet my dog and immediately went to hold him down. I told them to muzzle him if they have to hold him down or he will start growling and snapping. At first they didn't listen to me saying "oh no he will be fine" as I went to say "no he will not, being held down triggers him" my dog started to growl. They were able to get the muzzle on him and he calmed down. Then the techs stated they needed to take him in the back because I was setting my dogs sense of protection off. I said that was fine, thinking well he has the muzzle on so even if he starts snapping again he can't get a hold of anyone. I didn't hear anything so i assumed all was well (the walls are so thin you can hear people talking back there) Dr. Brooks finally popped his head in (40 minutes in to this appointment) and said my dog was snapping at the staff. I asked if they were able to at least get the blood since he has the muzzle on. He became really rude and said the staff will not attempt to treat a dog who is snapping. I stated that I thought that was what the muzzle was for. Maybe he took that as rude but I honestly thought that was the purpose of muzzling dogs. He rolled his eyes at me and said "you realize if he got a hold of any one of us it would be GAME OVER for him!" Now I fully understand that a vet can dismiss a pet from practice but this statement made me very uncomfortable almost threatened and I immediately asked to take my dog. He said I had to give my dog a tranquilizer before bringing him in again. Stating that my dog was aggressive. I said I would to make sure everyone stays safe and calm that my dog is not aggressive and has had three temperament tests, by the rescue, his day care and his trainer but that we all think due to abuse as a puppy he does not like being held down by strangers. As I was leaving Dr. Brooks added that the tranquilizer is known to give some breeds seizures and if that happens to just not give it again. Who says that about someone's dog so uncaring like. Dr. Brooks stated I needed to remove the muzzle because he was uncomfortable doing it. I did it out in the lobby. And the front desk staff (who are the one amazing part of this practice) came over to greet him and he was licking hands and giving kisses. Even the one front desk person said "aww he's not aggressive he was just scared huh?" After speaking with some friends and family who also went to this practice they had similar incidents with Pitty mixes and with Brooks being rude. I decided to switch to a wonderful practice who has more experience with former rescues with anxiety. We were able to do his vaccines and blood draw within 15 minutes with no incidents. If you have dogs with anxiety or behavior problems, especially Pitty mixes I would not take your dog here. read more

I personally do not have animals (other than fish) but often take my moms dogs here for her as she is handicap and I have had nothing but wonderful encounters each and every time that I've gone in there. The office staff is always friendly and both Dr. Brooks and Dr. Rezzler are kind, compassionate and always make us feel like they truly care. They have both taken time out of their busy schedules to speak to my mother when she has questions over the phone and even called just to check and see how her oldest dog was doing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with animals! read more

I have transferred my pet to another vet due to the aggression and lack of professionalism Dr. Brooks displayed when I went to pick up my mom's dog. She said she left a credit card, but they didn't show it on record. Even though my family has been going to that vet since 1995, they wouldn't release my mom's pet to me without payment and Dr. Brooks even took it as far as locking me in check up room and yelling at me to turn over the dog. Needless to say, he has rage issues.... I can only imagine how he treats an animal that angers him. I will NEVER go here again and wouldn't trust Dr. Brooks alone with a flea. read more

So unprofessional. If you have an appointment at 8 don't bother to get there early, like with any other clinic. Why does your name have the word "hospital" in it? Definitely not acute care. You can be waiting on their door step to get in with an anxious dog and they'll turn their heads and make you wait out there. Reluctantly they let me in at 5 til. Thanks... Once you get inside don't expect anything to get better. You'll wait on the chair while front desk ignores you and your dog, get taken back to a room to have a vet tech give up after 2 attempts of checking your dogs ears and say "well we just won't check your ears then..." Didn't attempt to give him treats or try soothing him down. No reinforcements or therapeutic behavior. Maybe it's just a bad Monday morning crew, but I wouldn't take any chances. Will not be going back. Your dog deserves better. read more

This vet saw my lab for the 1st four years of her life- at age 4 she started limping and I took her there for exam x2 with both vets - they diagnosed her with early onset arthritis and gave pain meds- this went on for about 6 months. I took her for a second opinion elsewhere and she had blown BOTH ACLs in her knees. New vet said its so clear it was "drawering". The new vet said she wouldn't have blown the second one if it had been caught. $8000. How do both vets there misdiagnose?? Don't go there. 1 star because I had to. read more

I'm sad and shocked to read the few reviews I see here because I have had only positive experiences at this office. We usually see Dr. Brooks, and he's been nothing but great with my dogs. He greets them, pets them, and even kisses them on top of their little heads. He spends a great deal of time explaining what's going on with my dogs so I don't leave with questions. The vet assistants are wonderful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I've never had to wait for my appointments. Once I arrive, they weigh my dogs, and very shortly after, I'm taken to an exam room. I just left the pet salon (the grooming business that is sort of attached to the hospital) after a nail trim for my 12 year old yellow lab. I called 10 min before and they squeezed me in right away. They were nice & even sat on the ground to do the trim!!! They were so nice & patient with her (she gets nervous of nail trims), all this & they didn't even charge me! She said it was such a small amount trimmed, but she used the cutter & dremmel tool!! Such a great place will be using them from now on for all my girls salon needs!!!! read more

When we first took our dogs here years ago there was one vet who wasn't that friendly. Then we moved away for a few years. Now that we are back I must say the staff is very friendly and the vets are all great! Plus as a bonus our dogs love them so that is really what matters most! read more

Took my 19 year old dog here for a long time now, she got ill and they gave her medication that SHOULD NEVER BE GIVEN TO A 19 year old dog. They always made the excuse shes 19 and its her time to go and never really cared to look further into her problems... and now shes gone because this vet did not care to look further. I have been very happy with the care my 5 1/2 month old Samoyed has received from Lakeside Animal Hospital.

Dr. Brooks is a horrible human being, and therefor a terrible veterinarian. We took our now four month old puppy to see Dr. Brooks every three weeks since it was part of the "puppy package." He never told us that our dog had any behavior problems, until the most recent trip that we got his nails clipped. Our puppy is 35 pounds and full of love and kisses. He is not aggressive in any way. He does not like getting his nails clipped and he does not like being restrained. We could hear our dog screaming and whining from the other room. Our dog came back with a couple bleeding nails and poop all over his butt. Dr. Brooks told us he was the worst dog he has seen in all his years. I was really upset and decided to talk to him about this. He wasn't capable of having a conversation, he only wanted to talk over me. I said he was being unprofessional and he told me that I was unprofessional for calling him and complaining about my dog having a little poop on him. The poop wasn't the problem, it really is the Dr.'s attitude. He never mentioned any problems with my dog until he said it was a "HUGE PROBLEM." He was really disrespectful towards us, and I told him I was going to find another vet. He raised his voice and said "GOOD." He said that he isn't there to please people, he is there for the animals. I asked him if he was aware that he has terrible reviews on the internet and he said "I DON'T CARE." Well - it goes both ways. If you can't act like a decent human being, then you don't get to see my animals. We will take our pets and our money to another vet! He was speaking like a sociopath on the phone, and that concerns me! Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else!! read more

Oh where to begin, I had went their for almost 20 years! Dr. Brooks is the worst. So condescending, he is just rude, and makes you feel like you don't take care of your pet well enough! I took my pet in, and Dr. Brooks and Dr. Rezler misdiagnosed. Dr. M. Shultz stood in the doorway and said she is having liver failure, then could have pancreatitis, then her gallbladder could fail before she even examined my dog. Which all happened. She told me what I could do to save my dog, without spending a fortune!!! My dog was 2 then now she is 8! Tks M. Shultz! Also I had I dog who was old and came from a breeder farm, my rescue baby, they euthanized her, it was awful, no relaxant or low lighting, no blanket, she climbed up my neck, looked in my eyes and died! read more

Very disappointed with this clinic. After multiple occasions of bad service or wrong quotes over the last few years, I will not be returning to the clinic with any of my animals. First off, the service is unacceptable. For example, a wellness exam is the vet sitting on the ground petting your dog for 30 seconds and telling him he's a good boy. They did not check his teeth, or joints (knowing he's a 9 year old Rottweiler mix), did not check for rashes or anything else concluding he's healthy. Did not even know the lady was the vet till I was told I'm all set to go pay and realized the 30 seconds petting session on the ground was the vet examination. Service like this happened multiple times with different vets working there. In addition, I have been charged for services that weren't performed and then told "they will put it on my account so I don't have to pay next time I come for that service" well next time it just turned out to be "sorry I don't see that in the system so I can not give you that reduction". Also, be careful as you will call for a quote and walk out paying a lot more which you're then forced to pay since the vet already saw your dog. One example, called for quote on a service and received a quote of about $45, after the appointment I received my bill for over $100 even though no other services other than the quoted one was performed. Think twice before taking your animal to this clinic. All they will care about is your money, definitely not the well-being of your pet. read more

We have a 4 year old female golden retriever. She is pretty hyper but very loving. We have been to this vet for all of her needs and they have been wonderful. Dr. Stephanie Rezler is amazing, she remembers our dog every time and not just because she has a chart in front of her. Anytime I have questions and call the office they are more than happy to assist me! Prices are very fair and I love the health packages they offer. My cat and dog have been going to Lakeside Animal Hospital for years. I could not be happier with their service. Dr. Brooks is a wonderful vet, very sensitive to my pets and their moods. I have gotten the absolutely best service at lakeside. My dog pulls at her leash to go inside once I let her out of the car in the parking lot. That says a lot! She is happy with all the people who work there. My cat had to be put down several years ago, and the staff and doctor couldn't be more kinder and sympathetic to us, it was hard to let go of our 15 year old KitKat, but she was in pain and we needed to let go. The staff was so helpful at our time of loss. I go to Lakeside for their professionalism and kindness to my pets. Dr. Brooks is a wonderful vet! read more

We enjoyed taking our pets to Dr. Rezzler, however, the negative encounters with Dr. Brooks and a number of the front office staff, caused us to seek another Veterinary clinic. Dr. Brooks is arrogant and did not come across as truly caring about our pets' health. As indicated in another review, one of our puppies also left the office bleeding after having nails clipped. We now drive 20 minutes to a new Vet, and our pets are treated very well. Well worth the drive. read more
