The only downside is that the look is pretty outdated-everything is painted a weird blue/green and could use an update. The playground equipment also looks pretty old. I've noticed some trash along the walkways, so I'm not sure who cleans the park, but overall, it is a nice downtown addition and gives some nice walking paths with a view.

A very nice view in itself. Then the boardwalk travels on, then goes under a bridge and next to a sand dune, then Bam! The lake and path funnel into Lake Michigan and the path onto an amazing beach. I had no idea this beautiful public beach was here. The views are outstanding and the sand is pristine. We took the dog, yes on a leash, for a walk of the beach and had a great time. Something I wouldn't have noticed when I was little: the parking area is WAY smaller than I anticipated! I parked in a spot that was directly in front of a bus parking sign, but there was no where else to park (and apparently it was fine). The large indoor area with all the taxidermy animals gave me major flashbacks! They have a pretty nice collection of local species. Some of the taxidermy is much higher quality than others, but it sounds like most of it is donated, so that makes sense. The paths are well maintained, and there is a cool lookout area that we spent a few minutes at. It was a nice touch that our guide had a bunch of binoculars for the kiddos to use up on the lookout. Our guide was pretty good! She interacted well with the kids, and had all the supplies they needed to have fun. They really enjoyed skimming the pond for fish, frogs, bugs, and whatever creatures they could find. I'm not sure how often I'd go back other than with kids, but it's a nice nature center. I was a little surprised that they don't have a compost pile, but I added it to my comment card, so maybe that'll be added in the future!

Or you can play it safe and go a few tosses over par and not have to trudge through the summertime bushes (we were lucky, as we've been told it can get swampier than it already is). The course is pretty popular with groups, so a few parties played through as we were going at a slower pace. Most are a par 3 or 4, which I've never understood, but the experts that I tagged along with seemed to think they were fair. Only a few baskets had mandos, which was pleasant - I hate to be told to go through a specific tree gap. Parking was more a suggestions, as folks parked every which way near and around tee #1 (also, there's a single porta-potty, thank you for that) and there aren't facilities whatsoever around the park. Despite all this, I thoroughly enjoyed my time on this course and would come back next time I'm in the area. Slight hills, check. Gorgeous greenway, check. Trees and bushes as occasional obstacles? Check. Blooming purple flowers to distract a child? Check. Water view? Check. Slight threat of losing your disc to nature? Check. Disc charging stations scratched into picnic tables? Lol, check.
