DO NOT GO HERE! been going here for over 4 years. Management does not know how to treat their clients with respect. Their bookkeeper lost a payment for my services back in 2018 which is outrageous to retrieve after so many years to proof them wrong. Management preferred to be argumentative, rude, classless instead of owning their mistake. After so many times going in they decided to charge us for a service that was paid in full back in 2018. The massages are not worth the price. Massages are not anything special you can find a better place that will know how to treat their clients specially loyal clients. read more

Planned a couples massage for the lady and I. Thought this would be a good spot near lake Bonavista. The so called "spa" is located on the second floor of the strip mall. So I suppose it's in the vicinity of the lake side. The now realized exorbitant price for a massage here offers no change rooms, no robes, no teas, no private relax area, no shower, nothing that would constitute this place being able to be called a spa. The massage was mediocre. I booked a therapeutic which was more a relaxation with the added cost. My areas of concern were barely addressed. The beds were comfortable and they did offer a plastic cup of water. They advertised direct billing to insurance providers and we did not receive this either. I regret coming here. read more

I enjoyed Lakeside Spa, for the most part. I thought the couples massage was decent; our massage therapists were pretty good. The room itself was very classy, with a fireplace and ample room between the tables. Unfortunately, the resting headpiece (laying face down) was a bit uncomfortable due to how small the opening was for your mouth. I was a bit miffed that there was literally nowhere to place or hang your things in the room. Also, there is no locker room, just two single person change rooms for dressing/undressing. There is no shower or sauna. I did not appreciate having to go home with oil on my body and clothes. The lobby was okay...there was "reading" material and cucumber/lemon water. It wasn't very relaxing though because of the bright light and visibility coming from the mall through the glass walls. Just a minor nitpick, though. The receptionist was nice; benefits went through okay. For the price, it's pretty good. I just wish their facilities were a bit more inviting. read more

A bit confusing.... Signs on building and google search say 'Heartworks' but the website and place is actually called 'Lakeside Spa'. I believed they had changed owners sometime ago but the building still has not changed the sign. I was looking for a place close to home that can get out my tight muscles and this place was a surprise find. The website makes it look basic, but once you get there, it's really a nice, dimly lit, serene spa like environment. They have laminate hardwood, slippers for you to use (if you want), nice sitting area, tall ceilings, nice cushy heated massage tables with thick towels and blankets to cover you.... and it was quiet!!! I don't like when I hear ppl talking in other rooms and I didn't here.... and they play nice serene music during the massage. I was even in a large room once that had a stand up shower in it and a fountain on the sidewall! Very unexpected but a nice surprise. I've had 2 massages from them and it's been good every time. It's in the Bonavista shopping mall, on the second floor by the elevators. I love that they're opened in the evenings and on the weekends. read more

The spa itself is small, but really nice! You feel relaxed just walking in there. I had an hour long therapeutic massage with Dawn. Hands down one of the best massages I've had!! I feel far more relaxed and confident that I will wake up feeling even better tomorrow. I often feel the strain of trying to have a conversation while getting a massage. What do you discuss? Do they like talking while working? I've never known how to go about asking...Don't get me wrong, there are times where I wish there was no conversation, but I was in a chatty mood and Dawn is hilarious! It's no surprise to have makeup all over my face from having my face shoved in the hole, but today was even worse as she had me crying I was laughing so hard! Can't wait to book in again! read more

My partner and I have both been getting massages at Lakeside Spa for approximately two years. We love the registered massage therapists, and atmosphere that Lakeside Spa provides. Whenever I go, I make sure to book an appointment with Carly. She is outstanding, and honestly the best massage therapist I have ever met. She does an awesome job, knows what's she's doing, and is generally outstanding at her job. Along with being a great RMT, Carly is also just a wonderful human being. Another thing to remember is that it's important to know that visiting the same therapist time and again does actually make a difference as they come to know more about you as a client (e.g. Do you like greater pressure? Do you have any sensitive spots?), so building a rapport with your RMT and consistently seeing someone you like can really help. My partner and I are both on Lakeside's massage a month club which gives patrons a discount on monthly massages. The value and training of the therapists makes this a particularly good deal for the location. The ambience and comfort of the spa are also bonuses. I've had facials at Lakeside before, and both times I found these particularly relaxing experiences. They recently hired a new facialist, and she was wonderfully gentle and generally awesome at her job. I see in the other reviews that Lakeside can be very hard to find. This is true. Some years ago it switched hands and became Lakeside Spa--it used to be known as Heartworks (note: my first massage ever was at Heartworks after which I vowed never to go back, but in switching hands many of the kinks I saw at Heartworks were smoothed). This spa was not what I had hoped in the least. We spent over $600 (plus tip) for a couples spa package. We were greeted by a girl that was wearing a ratty knitted touque with her headphones in on her phone that wouldn't move from her chair. She seemed annoyed when we came in and was not warm, welcoming or anything at all. The massage was marginal. The "wrap" was literally just being wrapped in the blanket I was already in. The table was so hard I was uncomfortable and in pain most of my treatment . The facial was really nice until she tried to massage me. Her massage during the facial was so bad I literally jumped on the table because it hurt and was so uncomfortable. She was also quite rude. There was no place to put our things and there was no place to wash the oil off or even fix our hair (being that we came in from out of town and we're going to dinner next). I will not be back and would not recommend this place to any one. read more

My overall experience was mediocre. I went in for a massage and although the treatment itself was good the customer service was not. Neither the massage therapist or front desk girl were overly friendly and spoke to each other like I wasn't sitting 5 feet away from them and couldn't hear everything they were saying about me. Like other reviews have stated, this spa is quite small and can be hard to find if you've never been there. But I've had nothing but great experiences there. I usually get relaxation massages, and the therapists are great. They're genuinely nice people, and always make sure the pressure is alright. I also like that they don't use a ton of oil. First time going to this spa, and not really sure if I would return. When booking my appointment the receptionist knew this was my first time going there, but didn't offer any advice on where they were located. I was able to find the strip mall, however there was no signage or indication where the spa actually was. I called to find out and was placed on hold for five mins waiting. The spa itself is small, but comfortable. I had a booked a massage, and believe her name was Jillian. She was nice and polite, however I found her massage to be lacking any great quality. The bed was heated and the room clean, but the massage wasn't an hour, as booked. She never asked how the pressure was, or if I wanted to focus on any specific areas. I had written on my medical form I was trying to relieve some stiff muscles. I receive more of a brief rub down, rather than an actual professional massage. I have had several massages before, and this one was subpar compared to the ones at the Fairmont Banff springs. I don't believe she was an RMT, because she didn't even work on my neck and shoulder areas, which hold a lot of stress & tension. Also on their website it shows a 'special' for a first time massage of 79.00; however this is only a Relaxation massage. This should be made clear and not have the client guessing or being mislead to having another option for booking at that price. I left unhappy with my 50 minute massage, & happy it was a spa finder gift card. I wouldn't have paid otherwise for that type of student massage skill level. read more

Be very very careful with this spa. They charge you with additional cost for treatments that you haven't asked for and didn't book. After the treatment they tell you that you got the treatment so you have to pay for it. I bought my wife a $260 treatment and they charged her extra for something she didn't asked for. On top of that, these people are very rude and will just hang up the phone when you call to file a complaint. I do not recommend this place. read more

I phoned and booked a couples massage package in August. The massage was decent, however the website is extremely misleading and I was not informed over the phone when I booked the appointment that the cost outlined on the website ($305) was per person not per couple. One would assume when booking a "COUPLES PACKAGE" the cost would be per couple. It makes no sense that the price is per person for a "COUPLES PACKAGE". Since this info is not given on the website, the receptionist should have informed me when I phoned to book the couples package. I was shocked to learn after the massage that my bill was DOUBLE what I was expecting to pay. All other websites I looked at clearly indicate if the price is per couple. To me, I felt I was deceived and I felt I had no choice but to pay. I am a student and can't afford to spend hard earned money on luxuries like these. It doesn't seem fair. I was using a gift card but I had to go into my savings and take money from that. The price for a couples massage package should be per couple. Blue Cross refused payment for the massage - beware if using health benefits** In October 2015 I first tried the Spa, booking a Senior RMT appointment online. I arrived later that day and confirmed at the desk that I would be processing the cost of the massage through extended health benefits. I was told that I could not direct bill, but that a receipt would be available at the end of the treatment. The massage was fine, I took my receipt and left. A few days later, my claim from Blue Cross was rejected, specifying that the massage therapist that provided the services did not satisfy the number of qualifying hours for them to be eligible for health benefits. I contacted the spa and asked how that could happen, given that I had requested a Senior RMT and was also asked prior to the treatment if I was claiming the expense..........surely at some point I should have been told? The spa's response was simply that because I booked online, they were 'unable to inquire about everything prior to the treatment'.....or in other words, it was my fault. I have communicated back and forth with the spa manager for the past few months (Tiana). I have requested that she call me to discuss what went wrong, however all I have received has been e-mails basically saying there is nothing they can do. Horrible customer service......my first experience of the Lakeside Spa will definitely be my last. read more

Pleasantly met my expectations - I found the massage therapist to be competent and the receptionist attentive, the spa facility to be nice and the prices competitive. I went to Lakeside Spa through a WaySpa coupon I received as a gift. The price was right, the reviews were mixed to the positive, and the services offered appeared to be a realistic mix (i.e. no lasar therapy plus a hair cut for $50). On arrival the area is small but welcoming, with a stylish yet comfortable reception area and soothing new-age type music in the background. I had booked a hot rock massage for 10:30 a.m. and was met by the massage therapist right on time. She actually suggested an alternative massage (of lesser value) after reading my medical history, which was a first. I explained my situation, and we proceeded. The massage room and table were warm, the therapy unhurried and enjoyable. Yes, I would return and recommend it to my friends. The only major suggestion would put that the spa is on the second floor of the mall in a more prominent place on the website. read more
