PARENTS BEWARE!!!…read more Midwest Gymnastics is not a safe environment for children. Understaffed, staff that are not attentive, and owners that only care about making themselves known and making money. With multiple staff members that have open SafeSport allegations and investigations for verbal and physical abuse. As well as staff members that are too busy watching their phones instead of watching for the safety of gymnasts. Midwest staff members also have multiple past investigations and allegations of abuse, bullying, and unsafe conditions. I would also recommend to be weary of ownership - Jess Graba was Ali's coach from the age of 4 and up and now they are married, sounds like the perfect example of "grooming" While there are some good athletes that have come from Midwest, I would recommend doing your research on the history of the gym, it's owners, and past events that have occured.

In my mind this was going to be more like gymboree style where we do a lot of floor stuff and just working on moving bodies around. Instead I think this is a class for people who REALLY want their kids to get into gymnastics and potentially become an Olympic gymnast. The class is split up into three rotations. The first is floor exercises such as walking across low beams, hoping along tape (etc.). You then move into bars. Kids are suppose to crab walk across bars, flip over the bars, and do other quite complicated gymnastic moves on bars not on the ground. The class ends with trampoline skills. Personally, I found the class not really geared towards toddlers. The class says it is for 18 months - three year olds, but I couldn't imagine taking my child in at 18 months to this class. I watch the coach telling us what they wanted the kids to do some of these times and my jaw hits the floor. They are asking them to do handstands by putting hands down and walking their feet up mats, do specific types of jumps on trampolines, do flips over bars, etc. Like real gymnastic moves. Some of the kids were able to do it, but for most they just play and run around. I kind of wish the class was more welcoming and open to people who aren't hardcore gymnasts. The instructors were nice enough. I think one of the challenges with working with this age group is you have to be the right person to do it. I used to work as a camp counselor for many years, and I totally knew I wasn't the prek/k group counselor material. The instructor is basically just walks us through each exercise then lets us have at it. She gives some praise every once and a while, but that is about it. No real hands on help with some of the more complicated moves or modifications for kiddos not ready to do back rolls and crab walks across parallel bars. I also have found the front office to be a bit unwelcoming. My first day there I came in and no one was working the front desk. I had no idea where I was going or what I was doing. Someone finally showed up, but paid no attention to me. There is no hello, goodbye, or have a nice day. I think if you are serious about gymnastics, this place is great. If you just want your kid to have some fun, burn off some energy, and work on gross motor skills, maybe look elsewhere.

We had started our child in a community Ed gymnastics program and they did OK, but it was lacking in many areas (staffing, equipment, flexible time slots, being able to do multiple stations, etc.) But TAGS has multiple different skill levels, for girls and boys, so we were able to get our child into the right one, and then she moved up levels as she progressed. They run the business professionally but also personally. It feels like family. The staff truly are devoted and committed to help your child grow and get better, and ever feel bad if they are not able to do something. Stable staff, not a lot of turn over!! If you are new to the place, it may seem like chaos, but it is anything but. I LOVE, love, love, that my daughter is able to work on multiple different stations in her weekly hour session. (She doesn't get bore The parking lot is a bit congested, but as long as you know that and are prepared for it, it's no big thing. If in doubt, give them a chance and I feel you'll be glad you did!

They rotate from the trampoline, Tumbl Trak and floor. I should preface this by saying she's also a dancer and a very dedicated student and can learn difficult choreographer in one day, so she's not a slow learner. She likes going to class and thinks the teachers are nice, but she also feels that after they get the basics down on the tramp/Tumbl they should focus more on the floor because she's not just there to have fun, she wants to learn skills she can do on the floor at dance not just when she's playing on the trampoline. It's extremely disappointing that she can't do so much as an aerial on the floor at this point. And, they just increased their rates again.

The owner of Classic Gymnastics took over our small, local gymnastics club (located in New Hope,…read moreMN) in July/August 2021. He took over management of SEVERAL gyms in 2021/early 2022, including three in MN and several out of state. The gym went RAPIDLY downhill. The owner made promise after promise (upgrades to the building, bringing in new coaching staff, team handbooks, monthly communication newsletters, a front desk person to help with administrative tasks, new leotards for team girls, etc...) The list goes on and on. Not one of those promises was kept, and when we we hold him accountable, he was incredibly rude and disrespectful to parents. I was incredibly concerned about safety because there were 13 team girls there practicing, with one, very inexperienced coach. I stayed at the gym for the entire team practice so that there would be another adult present in case something were to happen. We have since left, but are now hearing of this behavior at other gyms as well. I also recently heard the owner speak on a podcast stating that his goal is to turn his business into a large revenue producing business (50 mil) by 2025. Seems that he's more focused on making money than creating positive experiences for kids.
