I love it here. It's peaceful. It's safe. My experience with my sales lady was top notch - she's so amazing i could hug her. Plus... Allll the dogs!!! However... the roaches seem to love it here too. The exterminator was here twice, yet i just found another one crawling out of my sink overflow drain. And I'm talking a ROACH. The size of a baby hamster. And where there's one, there are plenty. I threw bleach down the return and now i have a dead pterodactyl sized insect belly up in my bathroom sink. I may leave him there as a warning to his friends.... read more

PLEASE READ! Main complaints: PEST (Mice & Raccoons) & PARKING There is a pest problem and when you reach out to the leasing office there is little concern and urgency for the matter. I initially contacted the leasing office and informed them of something making a lot of noise in my bathroom and bedroom walls, I was told it's probably a squirrel and to contact maintenance. I contacted maintenance and was told someone would be out and probably lay some traps. A week or two passes and I saw mice in my unit (yes, not just one but 2 mice AT ONCE) I followed suit and called maintenance, I was told to contact the leasing office. So I called the leasing office (on a Monday) and spoke with Angie. I explained to her where I saw the mice and how uncomfortable I was and she assured me someone would be out on Wednesday (that's the day pest control makes their rounds). Wednesday comes and no one came. I called the office and spoke with Sharon S, the assistant manager and she said "human error", I was some how not placed on the list for pest control so I had to wait for the following week. The band aid to that was having maintenance come out and give me a box of glue traps. What am I supposed to do with that? Is this now a DIY project? I'm a tenant not your staff. Pest control came out the following week and baited for mice and maintenance put steel wool in areas that appeared to be entry points. *Side note: I had to call the office and ask for this information because there was no note or anything indicating pest control entered my unit. Maintenance came out the following day and completed the work order based on the recommendation from the pest control company and to be clear the maintenance staff left a tag showing they were in my unit and stated what was done. I think it should be mandatory for anyone entering a unit to leave a note/tag stating they were there and why including third parties such as pest control companies. As far as the animals in my wall, raccoons. The same pest control company Ross, they came out and put traps on the back stairwell near my patio. They caught something the first day but nothing after that. The raccoons are still very present and active. My neighbors are now complaining about the matter as well. Per the Ross rep, he said they only place traps outdoors. They don't enter the units or storage spaces, it's going on week 3 with the traps and it's still not resolved. I woke up today and heard loud growling in my bathroom. It's terrifying to hear an animal in your living space scratching/growling. It literally sounds like they're trying to get threw my bathroom flooring/wall. The Ross rep said although it's unlikely, if the animal is stuck it can panic and claw/bite threw tough materials. Needless to say I now keep my bathroom door shut as a safety precaution. How is this any way to live? I've recorded videos so the property staff could hear what I hear. When I call the office and ask for the property manager or corporate's contact info I'm advised it's best to speak with Sharon S, the assistant manager. I sent an email last week and still waiting to hear back from her with an update on this. I have animals in my wall! I didn't sign up for this. Lastly... parking sucks. If you get home before 6:30/7pm you MIGHT find a decent parking spot but any later than that then you're definitely gonna have a nice walk. You might have to park at the next cluster of buildings or maybe even at the convenience store. Cars are double parked and parked in clear areas that aren't for parking. I understand we're in a different time where households have more than one car but there should be assigned parking for at least one vehicle per unit. read more

Maintenance is absolutely horrible. I have submitted 6 requests 2 weeks ago for issues that need attention and STILL have not heard from anyone. Currently I am with AC and my main power breaker has been popping every 7 mins today. Apparently the electrician can't come until tomorrow and AC calls are only answered until 9pm so be sure to time your electrical/AC issues accordingly if you move in here because they probably won't be addressed. If you like the heat, resetting your breaker every 7 Mins and a dirty complex, then this is the home for u. But I recommend that u keep searching. read more

When it comes to the location and the scenery, I'm in love but my main concern is maintenance. They're terrible! They lack communication skills, never show up/get done what they're supposed to and when they finally do show up they do a half assed job. Nothing but empty promises. I try to be sweet and patient with them but it always comes to the point where you have to get nasty with them just to do a sloppy job. In my opinion, they really need to clean house and find employees that actually have passion for their work. I don't understand how they wanna charge out the wazoo for these units that are not up to par. My apartment wasn't even updated when I moved In. They never painted, didnt replace my carpet until years after I moved in. Outlets protruding from the walls, wall frames missing, appliances that don't work, my floors are ridiculously uneven, and my kitchen counters are not flush with my appliances so food constantly falls down the cracks where it sits and rots causing pest issues. Drafts are also a huge issue here! They have terrible mold issues! They blame extension cords for fires but maybe it's because they dont provide fire extinguishers, or it's due to the faulty wiring! When I walk out back of my apartment all you hear is a symphony of fire detectors that need there batteries replaced. THEYRE BREAKING SO MANY HEALTH CODES! The list goes on and on. In conclusion, this place is under new management and you can clearly see that they care more about this place then the previous owners, and I'm noticing a lot of beautiful updates, but my suggestion is that they need to focus on the happiness and the safety of the residents and not the layout of the property. read more

DO NOT MOVE HERE. SPECIFICALLY DO NOT MOVE INTO TOWNHOUSE 273!! My wife and I move in September 30th, 2022 and promptly moved out October 10th, 2022! The unit has AN INFESTATION OF MICE AND LARGE RODENTS IN THE WALLS! We moved in and had no hot running water. Called the emergency line because we have a 4 month old baby and a 13 year old and NO ONE RESPONDED! Left us stranded and abandoned. Then even after no one showed up until I had to physically go to the leasing office and refuse to leave until someone was at my unit. The rodents in the walls were not a concern they sent a generic exterminator and set traps outside the home. Not one animal caught. We called the news, the city, and contacted an attorney! Lakeview and Kamson handed us a check for every cent paid to move in PLUS didn't charge us any days rent for the time living here. That should tell you all you need to know! DO NOT MOVE HERE! The office staff is a JOKE!! Jeannette Hoffman (leasing agent), Sharon Smith (assistant property manager), and Terri Axelrod (property manager) are useless and worthless and all need to be let go immediately. They have no control over the property nor the staff. George the maintenance manager also JOKE! He had to literally beg his "maintenance men" to come to my unit on my first night there to fix our hot water heater! PLEASE DO NOT SIGN A LEASE TO LIVE HERE! I lived here for almost three years and they literally are the worst. I have since moved out but when I was there, the pool was never done or open. The apt hallways were never cleaned and smelled like weed and must. There were so many bugs in the hallways as well. I never had a rodent problem but there was always something wrong in the apartment, drifty windows and horrible parking area. The front door to my building at the time was locked and we received two keys when we moved in, somewhere along the way they took away the double lock making it easy for anyone to just walk in and have access to all of the apartments. The back doors that open to the lake are not well constructed so I have a draft back there coming in and bugs all over the balcony that always attempted to come in. I had the door blocked with a towel to keep it closed and bugs out because management never fixed it. The police in the neighborhood patrol at night so no one ever sees them but you get tickets for no reason or for "illegal parking" in your designated parking lot. Management changed a few times while I was there and I realized this was a bad sign as well. The lake is also not cared for or treated so it's not a pretty "lake view" it's just apartments that happen to have a lake behind them. In addition, when I first visited, they showed me a staged apt and said they couldn't show the one I'd actually have because someone was living there. That wasn't true, they just didn't want to show that all of them do not have a view and are not as pretty and well kept as the staged apt. Ugh good riddens. read more

I've been living in Lakeview since May 2015. It was a horrible start with maintenance. I could go on about the past office staff! Recently, a new property manager came in and I contacted her about issues that I've had with my apartment since I moved in. For the first time in 3-1/2 years the problems have been addressed! Sharon the new property manager came into my apartment, made a list and slowly but surely, things are turning around! Building was sinking into the lake, the place was on a 30 degree slope. The back entrance was crudely reinforced with steel beams making the the back entrance unusable. We are having a heatwave in late June. My daughter's ac has not been cooling off apartment, electric bills through the roof. I think because the ac unit is not working and it's on constantly running up the bill. Maintenance has been out 2X. It's Saturday and they are saying there's not much they can do until Monday when the Leasing Agent is in. So if you live there and it's a weekend and your heat or ac doesn't work, they don't know what to tell you. DO NOT MOVE THERE!!!!! Update: After being told see the Leasing Agent on Monday morning, my daughter went to the office and got the run around and finally spoke to rental agent who had an attitude. She agreed to get an outside ac service to check out ac unit tomorrow also said she should have been offered a portable AC unit WHICH SHE WAS NOT. When my daughter said her electric bill was over $350 for the month for a 600 sq. ft. apt she was told that was normal. Um no it's not at all. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I've been a tenant since 2010. We started in a studio together - it wasn't too bad just enough for the two of us. Then upgraded to a 1 bedroom in 2011. The one bedroom came with stain-covered carpets & a ton of nails still in the walls from the previous tenants. We get a good family of centipedes popping out every now and then no matter how many times we call maintenance, they never do anything about it. They took away our only storage area & dead bolted it shut so no one could get in at all. Why? We we're never told. in 2014 a pipe burst in said storage room. (right next to our apartment.) Maintenance used all of our beach towels to soak up the water, we were never reimbursed. When this happened, our doorbell stopped working and when we called maintenance to fix it, they never did. We had to go to the front office to ask for someone to get them to do something about it & you know what they did? A remote doorbell that doesn't work because it's too far. Now, I've finally had it because they're asking tenants to pay an extra $40 a month (ontop of the $900 they're already charging us) for a RESERVED parking spot! There's hardly any spaces as it is for all of us, and they're going to put a sign up that says "Unauthorized vehicles will be towed at owners expense." Not only this, but when my husband was just pulling in one of these spots for a few minutes with his car running to empty out groceries so we wouldn't have to carry 20bags across a parking lot, a black man in a tie who seemed to work for the complex came out and tries to say, "these spots are for reserved tenants only." Ridiculous. I can't even believe it after 6 years of never missing a rent check that they're going to punish the loyal tenants that they have! I could pay this much and get NEW carpets, a doorbell that works & a spot for every tenant! Lakeview is NOT worth their money. The people that are running this place care about nothing & no one but themselves. When that poor woman Carol Reiff's body was found in their woods, Lakeview did nothing. No message to the tenants about her, about personal safety, nothing! Also, the manager has been known to have alcohol on her breath as she's talking to you about places to love! Do not move here! This was my first apartment complex. I opted for the Studio Deluxe, which had more square footage than any other complex I was considering. The price was the best around too. I reserved a spot on their waiting list before the summer began. A couple months later I was called and told there was an error in their prices, and was asked if I still wanted the place. This was obviously a complete lie. The prices stated online never change, and they will always say they are having a special for that season. They just do that to lure you in, and hit you with the actual price once you spend time waiting for your reserved spot. Thankfully they offer a student discount, which made up for this extra cost, which I knew beforehand so it was fine. Since I had to wait, they weren't able to show me what my apartment would look like. Yeah, it was a risk, but I figured by law it had to be at least livable. And that is exactly what I got - a bare minimum apartment with problems galore. The first problem was the location - behind the leasing center, through a pot-hole filled parking lot. It's rather cramped and hard to find a spot in the front during late hours or weekends, but there are some areas behind the buildings to park. Being on the bottom floor, it was like being in someone's basement. The stairs were old looking, and there was trash everywhere. There was a laundry room next to the apartment, but it was extremely disgusting, and they eventually closed it off (their stated amnesties "storage room" and "laundry room"). The door was another problem - it would be easy to force open, yet it's extremely hard to lock it. When entering the apartment, it smelled like bleach throughout, which took a few days to get rid of. The walls and ceiling had damage throughout. It seems like the only thing they did was fix holes in the walls, even though the other damage seems to be getting worse over time. The main room did not have any ceiling lights, so you would have to purchase some lamps. Outlets are pretty rare though - there are only 3 in the main room, 2 in the side room, 1 in the kitchen, and one (that doesn't work) in the bathroom. They are usually in the most inconvenient places too. There are spots for internet connections - coaxial in the corner across the door, and 2 phone outlets at the divider of the rooms and on the nook. The kitchen drawer was broken, and the dishwasher was on a slant (never dared to use it). The stove is gas, the kind with the pilot always on (and sometimes maintenance coming over to relight it). The smoke alarm is right next to the stove, so if you use the stove, you have to disable the smoke alarm. The bathroom is rather long, and is nice (besides the outlet that doesn't work). A big problem is the use of water - hot water is shared with your neighbors, so expect many suddenly cold showers. The closets and windows are the biggest flaw of the complex - they are what cause you to always have your heat or air conditioner on. The floor in the whole complex is always as cold as outside, mainly due to the closets have huge gaps underneath the bottom of the walls. So, anything you store in your closets is subject to extreme cold, heat, and humidity. The whole apartment is slanted - you have to talk uphill to get to the bathroom. If you aren't used to this, it's a really big hassle. The closets are also built on a slant - coat rods are always at least 45 degrees on an angle, and the same with shelves. You have to pay for electricity, but not gas. Your electric bill will always be high though, since you have to keep running something for cool or hot air. Heat escapes (or comes in) so easily due to the old windows, which is like having a big hole in the wall. By the way, only one of the three windows stays open. The patio is non-existant. Some apartments have a slab of concrete and that's it (what I ended up getting). Others will get a wooden fence around their slab. The screen door for my apartment was old and broken. Called maintenance, but they never did anything (remember, bare minimum spending for them). My heat stopped working right before spring. It took about 7 calls and two days later to fix it. They gave me a space heater to use for the night, which did absolutely nothing - it was basically broken. People come and go every week here - there are many abandoned leases. They constantly state "we can't guarantee security", meaning everyone is on their own. One person moved in, and got robbed the same day. Every now and then you hear about vehicles (mainly motorcycles) being stolen. People are constantly parking in places that force you to go into potholes, and only rarely do you see their vehicles towed. Noise pollution is common. Whether it's your neighbor closing their patio door, or a neighbor being a little loud, or even the people about you walking, you will hear noise. Don't live here unless you have nowhere else to go. You are just a dollar sign to them. read more

I have been renting since I was 19 years old. I am 25 now and have never had a worse experience than with this terrible excuse for an apartment complex. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I started here in a studio that to be honest really wasn't that bad. A friend of mine needed a place to stay so we decided to upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment. The day we were supposed to move into our apartment the apartment wasn't even ready. They even told us to move in on a different day, which of course we couldn't. Since when you move most people have a time frame they have a truck rental and use of your friends or movers we had to move in while they were shampooing our carpets. Needless to say our boxes, furniture, and anything that touched the floor got wet. This carpet was stained even after the cleaning. Our compensation? Two free hoagies from the disgusting deli in the apartment complex. Throughout living in our apartment we had to deal with a pot smoking neighbor living next door and people constantly smoking pot in the breezeway right next to our kitchen window. There was even a small fire on our deck from someone flicking a cigarette near the bottom of our deck. All of our windows didn't have locks on them and being on the first floor we actually had to request them. Since the units don't have washers and dryers there is a community laundry room. In this laundry room you will find trash all over, a locked bathroom or a bathroom with no soap, toilet paper or paper towels. You will also find kids hanging out in the laundry room since there is no real lock on the door. Not only are they hanging out, but they will be smoking! Great place to clean your laundry. Towards the end of our lease, we started to find dead mice in our dining room along with giant flies in one specific room, the dining room. I called and complained about the flies since we found them first. They called an exterminator who came and looked around and told us that they were just house flies. Mind you this is in the middle of winter. We are not dirty people and you don't just get flies in the middle of winter. When I asked him to spray my apartment he told me he didn't have time but since I seemed so nice he would do it for me. He was a total creep. What is the point of coming out to a house for a pest problem if you don't plan to take care of it? Next came the mice. We started finding them dead because our dog was killing them when we weren't home. We couldn't find where they were coming from until one day I noticed the dog was constantly near the stove. I decided to pull the stove away from the wall and discovered a giant hole where there were exposed gas lines and other pipes. There was also a discarded electrical outlet that a maintenance man just threw on the floor when he came to fix it when we first moved in. They came in and fixed it and cleaned up the mess they made. After that we did discover another mouse so who the hell knows where they were coming from. Since we had a mouse problem our dog ripped up some carpet areas trying to get them when we weren't there. I went and discussed this with the manager there and was told there was nothing they could do. I was told that the terrible carpet we got was supposed to last 8 years and they got it in 2014 so we would pay a prorated amount to replace it which is out of this world high. After all this I was in the office complaining about all the issues I've had at the complex and I was told, "Unfortunately that's apartment living." That is complete BS. I have never had issues like this is all my time renting apartments and I think they should be ashamed of the conditions there. The complex is huge, has no parking, and a million residents. They absolutely don't have enough staff to tend to the complex and it is ridiculous. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone and would absolutely deter anyone from moving here. Don't let them fool you with their cheap rates and deals, it's absolutely not worth it. If I could give them 0 stars I would in a heartbeat. read more
