Very slow play due to Tee Times being only 8 minutes apart. Not enough golf carts either. Greens are well kept though.

This course is in amazing shape compared to other course that charge more. I will play here again.

Horrible customer service and operations. Played once with our family and they were mowing the holes while we were playing. They do not clean up the grass and leave it all over in clumps. Also said rental clubs for the out of towners could be used but didn't have any available for kids like promised. Tried to call for a quick 9 holes before heading home instead of booking on the website and apparently all tee times are booked. Guy answering the phone was impolite when saying that there was a tournament. Why not take the tee times off the website then? Avoid playing here. Spend the little extra money and go to Massanutten or one of the other courses a little further away. read more

Absolutely love this course! Was driving from Nashville to Rhode Island and decided to stop and take advantage of 72degree day in December before getting back to RI. Conveniently located off the highway. The staff is great; they are very friendly, welcoming and professional. For December the course was In great shape. There are 3 nine hole courses and each has its own flare. There is the peak course, on the peak of the property which has a nice layout, the mountain view which is up and down the side of the property through gorgeous homesites with gorgeous Mountain View's and lower lake view which also looked nice. We played the peak and Mountain View. There are elevated tees, rolling fairways, some challenging layouts and just beautiful views and fairways everywhere. So glad we stopped and would definitely rely love to go back one day!! read more

I grew up in the area so I've played Lakeview plenty of times. It's a pretty straightforward course with enough challenge but still enough opportunity to score low. Having been about 10 years since I last played there, I was excited to return. I found out they closed some holes and rerouted the course a little which is no big deal. It actually seemed pretty cool. However, when you go into the pro shop to check in for your 9:10am tee time and the golf shop attendant and the patron in line in front of you are talking and having a normal conversation nonstop, it's a little frustrating when they don't even acknowledge your there. Talking about "How painful friday night was", you can obviously sense they were good friends. Fast forward a few minutes and I finally get to check in. On a Sunday morning the rate was only $30 which was AWESOME. I was surprised at not only the rate, but the fact that the parking lot was basically empty at 8:45. We were playing behind said patron that was a chatty kathy in the shop, and we started on a par 3. We teed off a little late, but no big deal. After we got going is where the real problems started. The group in front of us who happen to have been friends with the golf shop attendant quickly fell behind from the group in front of them. I'm not even exaggerating: we would finish on a green and they still wouldn't be off the next tee box with NO GROUP IN FRONT OF THEM. Also not an exaggeration because I timed it on my phone: It took them 24 minutes to play a 151 yard par 3. When we walked off the 18th green and I got to my car, it was 2:42pm. The fact that there was no Marshall to maintain pace of play is ridiculous. The three guys I played with said they would never be back. I don't have much to worry about because I don't live in the area. I"m just writing this review because hopefully someone will pay attention (doubtful) and fix what once was an enjoyable place to play. Note: The course was in pretty good condition. Great place to play golf as a college student at JMU. Played many rounds here and the staff and quality of the course was just phenomenal

Great value and a fun day of golf. The day before our round, we used the driving range. The mats at the range were okay for the most part. Some of the stations had mats in need of repair, but for our purposes, the range was adequate and the range balls were in good shape. We played the Spring/Lake nines as we were told they represented the more forgiving 18 holes. Since we were looking for a fun round of golf, these 18 holes provided an excellent venue. The course is well manicured with with distance sticks in the middle of the fairway to help with club selection. The layout provides great views and the opportunity to use all the clubs in your bag. read more

Very good golf course in the Harrisonburg area. I'm hoping that courses in the DC area would be this cheap. They extended the winter rates up until March so it costs $26 with cart on the weekend for 18 holes, but I'm guessing that during the summer, it's not that much different. Broken up into 4x 9 hole courses, you have your choice of which ones to play for 18. We played the Lake and Mountain courses and they offered a fair amount of challenges with elevation changes and bunker placement, but the greens were very flat. Most of the time I didn't even need to read the green. This is awesome for a leisure golfer such as myself. Cheap rates, decent golf. Definitely would come again next time I'm in the area. read more

Played in a tournament today and found that the course was in fantastic shape. The staff was very helpful which helped the event move along very quickly. Greens were slick and fairways were perfect I also found the layout quite forgiving as well as rewarding for risky shots. I would recommend this course anyone local or traveling into town. Looking for a good place to play. read more

What a great golf course! Having 4 different 9 hole courses allows for a unique round on multiple outings. The course is forgiving but not easy by any means. It is typically in good to great shape. The staff is always friendly especially the guy in the snack stand at the club house (killer breakfast sandwiches)! Keep it up Lakeview! read more

What used to be a fine, well run course is now a catastrophe. The greens have some sort of mange, the tees are almost grassless and what grass is there is not cut. On several tees, the grass was longer than my tee. Through the green is not well kept. The pro shop is less than friendly. I remember this course as always being in great shape with smooth, fast greens. Since the old pro Mike left, everthing has deteriorated significantly. I played Sunday Sept 29th 2019. No wonder many of the tournaments have moved to Heritage Oaks and the Country Club. The course condition ranks a one of the worst I have seen, and I have been a serious golfer for 53 years. read more

Lakeview GC is one of the two best values for the money within "day trip" range of Charlottesville. Reasonably priced, and with a wide-open window for VSGA card users, it is the best. I've always found the course conditions to be excellent, from tee to green. And I do mean always, no matter the time of year. The staff is friendly, and large. It is never difficult to find a staff member for whatever it is you need, either at the start or during the round. Everyone is very friendly. The course layout somehow doesn't particularly impress me, a highly subjective opinion which I'm not prepared to explain and am sure is not widely shared. I will share what I consider to be a much more objective discriminator here, and that concerns the driving range. I'm not wild about the range. You hit off mats, and it is not wide or deep enough to prevent balls flying over the left net onto what was Peak #1 and is now Forest #4, or even over the back net and onto the Forest #9 green! But I suggest that when evaluating a new course, you might first look to see the caliber of the golfers using the driving range. It is my observation that Lakeview GC is where serious golfers go to play. This year they've dropped one of their nines from the dance card, leaving "only" three nines to play. I like elevation changes, and so was personally disappointed to see a couple of the best elevation change holes taken out, but it is tough to argue with the 27 remaining holes. The "Forest Nine" encompasses part of the old "Peak" and "Spring" nines, and as the name indicates, is the most heavily wooded. I find it, based on my first play of the new configuration this past weekend, to be the most challenging by far. The "Mountain Nine" plays longer but is much more forgiving of errant shots. The "Mountain Nine", as one would expect, provides the best views of the nearby mountains. These excellent views are either enhanced or degraded, depending on your taste, by beautiful large homes along the fairways. The "Lake Nine" is unchanged from last year, and it's my favorite. It has an "older" feel to it, and though it doesn't match the views from the Mountain Nine, I found it to be the prettiest of the three, and it's a nice mixture of challenging and easier holes. There is nothing to be critical of out at Lakeview. I absolutely recommend it to any golfer. Get a tee time though, as this is not an undiscovered gem. Three nines offers more ability to space people out, but it is still less than four. Lakeview may be more "crowded" this year than last, though that was not evident to me while playing all 27 in perfect weather this past weekend. read more
