My wife and I chose Lakeview Hospital after taking a tour while deciding where we wanted to have our son. From the very beginning, we felt comfortable there, and every visit since has reinforced that we made the right decision. The staff have always been friendly, helpful, and welcoming. No matter who we interact with, we're greeted with a smile, and that goes a long way when you're preparing for something as important as bringing a child into the world. We have Dr. Becker, and she has been amazing throughout this entire pregnancy. She is incredibly knowledgeable and always takes the time to explain things in a way that makes us feel comfortable and informed. My wife has a lot of confidence in her, and so do I. Beyond being a great doctor, she has a wonderful personality that makes every appointment enjoyable. We find ourselves laughing every time we meet with her. We really didn't know what to expect when we first chose a doctor, but looking back, I honestly feel like Dr. Becker was the perfect fit for us. I'm sure there are many great doctors at Lakeview, but we feel very fortunate to have her caring for our family. We're excited to welcome our son at Lakeview Hospital, and we're grateful for the care we've received so far. It's been a great experience, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. I almost forgot to mention Liberty, our ultrasound tech. She was an absolute joy to work with. She took her time during our appointment and made sure we got to see every possible view of our son. You can tell she takes a lot of pride in what she does and genuinely wants families to have a great experience. The images she captured were wonderful, but what stood out most was how much she seemed to care about the people she serves. That level of commitment and attention to detail means a lot, and it definitely made our experience even more special. Recently went to the hospital for an appointment with an OBGYN. The appointment was made last minute and I was glad I was able to get in to see a provider within 2 days of scheduling the call. Very impressive. I saw Mary Sharkey and I absolutely adored her! She spent a lot of time going over my own health history and things she wanted to inquire more about. She wanted to make sure to get to know me and my history before figuring out next steps and I appreciated that. Especially when it came to my family history. She's a wealth of knowledge and I can tell she really cares about your health and wants to help the patient make the right decisions. The old racist white lady at the ER counter names Sarah S. was extremely disrespectful, didn't answer questions or explain anything well. When I asked for the patient advocacy number she tossed the card at me. I wanted to make sure the notes she put on my record were accurate with what I told her and not just what she wanted to assume. She was not professional at all. She should not be working with patients at all with her attitude. If she is not going to treat everyone with respect she needs a different job or should retire. It's 2025 be better. If you are a POC you will need to heavily advocate for yourself at this place. read more

I am traumatized and disappointed by my experience. I was placed in a room with no call button at the end of the hall. They forgot I was there until I came out asking for care. The doctor ignored two of my concerns stating they were "probably fine" and referred me to a specialist tomorrow. I'm urinating blood, can't see out of one eye, but I'm sure its probably fine. I was given information about the dangers of opiates, which is strange given that at no time did they address my pain or offer medication and I sure know better than to ask. When I moaned at some point and said "Sorry the pain is killing me, Dr Finke said "Awwww" and continued to ignore my requests to assess my issues. I feel like an inconvenience, I feel dirty for needing help, but mostly I'm angry. I'm angry that I'm paying for insurance only to be dismissed by doctors. I'm angry that I am in pain and feel ashamed to talk about it. I am angry that I have access to medical care but a doctor didn't feel like my issues were worthy of her time. This week, my wife and I took an infant CPR class through Health Partners here. The class is $25 per couple with video and practice with baby doll. Ann was our instructor and was very good to explain compression/breath for CPR and back slaps for choking. After your baby reaches 1 year old, you will need to take child CPR class which Lakeview Hospital offers as well. The class size was 6-7 couples and loved that Ann let us ask questions throughout the class. Overall, it is a worthwhile class and glad we took it just in case. read more

24 years ago at Lakeview, Dr. Palmer did a scope on my knee to "Repair" my meniscus. Resulted in killing my knee because he severed the blood flow. So,, "sorry" was all I got. Well, this past year it finally caught up to me. I had a Total Knee Replacement. Dr. Saterbak at TCO botched it at High Point Surgery Center. So 6 months later she does a "revision" at Lakeview. The pain and recovery process from the first surgery wasn't half as bad as the recovery from the second. Super painful from the tourniquet they applied. Now going on 8 months of pain. Needless to say, Lakeview gets one star. Saterbak one star. And to add fuel to the fire, they want me to pay for the second surgery. Here is my two cents, say you have a cracked windshield, you get it replaced, looks fine , new windshield, then two days later it rains and leaks around the edges. Now what serviceman would charge you to redo it adding sealant around the edges? Humm... why do Doctors get a pass? Final note ,,, they won't get a dime from me!!! read more

My experience with Lakeview Hospital was wonderful. A nice alternative to metro hospitals. I utilized their emergency dept per recommendation from a medical clinic. I was sent to the emergency room from the Stillwater clinic for a kidney stone i'd had for a week that wouldn't pass. I was dehydrated and in excruciating pain and from the second Dr Eric Dahl walked into my room he was arrogant, rude and completely unprofessional. Dr Dahl and nurse Cathy Stephenson were beyond awful. I felt like a torture victim. There is no excuse for how I was treated and neither of those two should be practicing medicine. I hope both of them get a 4mm kidney stone stuck at the UV junction and I hope it doesn't pass for a week. I hope they vomit profusely for a week, dehydrate and are utterly miserable. Then, I hope they are treated EXACTLY the way they treated me! I hope they both suffer just as much as they made me suffer. Never again would I get my medical care at Lakeview hospital in Stillwater. Dr Eric Dahl should not be allowed to be anywhere near patients. Terrible experience. Terrible hospital for being complicit and allowing this kind of treatment of patients. read more

I would absolutely not recommend this hospital. I have a overy mass, the doctor had reviewed my medical records and told me, I realize you have a mass but I'd like to gently push on your abdominal to see if u have pain there. The pressure of her gentle pushing caused overian tortion which caused pain beyond the level of 10 pain, two doses of delotted still no pain release thus I was left to suffer over an hour in high pain levels I haven't experienced in my life until the overy tortion was finally over then I was sent home, my husband and I were left in the ER room for over 3 hours no one came in with test results or further updates I am scheduled for surgery in the near future this is no place for the sick or injured read more

At the start of my being placed in my room, many concerns popped up. Though I had one nurse that seemed to show concern, other employees/nurses had commented many times of- "ugh it's Monday" "I don't want to be here" ALL outside my curtain. At my time around discharged, the nurse that was going to take out my iv, didn't know how- "I'm just not comfortable doing it. I don't want to break it." (I heard that through the curtains) so she came in to watch. My friend that was my ride home was told, "sign these papers so you're in charge if she dies" NOT OK- I was sent home with NO discharge papers, was told very little side effects about what to look for In case of emergency or if any problems arise. completely disappointed. HealthPartners is awful, I miss my Fairview clinics. read more

So disappointed after a recent ER visit, being a frequent visitor with chronic kidney stones, I asked for non narcotic pain meds & was given a pill instead of IV medications. 5 hours later, I did get the IV pain relief, when the pill just didn't give pain relief. The doctor even disagreed with me when I requested a CT scan ! I called the patient advocate about the details of the ER visit. Several weeks later, I received a letter from her which said that I received appropriate treatment. This was not the usual excellent treatment I have had in the past ! Next time, I will use my voice while I am there !! read more

Absolutely great hospital, never a bad experience with Lakeview/Health Partners! I had severe back pain about a year ago and only had one appointment before they referred me to a specialist! I then went to the imaging department to get my MRI and was well taken care of. They put the music station that I wanted on in the MRI to keep me as comfortable as can be and did periodic check ins to make sure I was doing okay. I got my results back very quickly and we made a plan of action to get it taken care of as soon as possible. Highly recommend this hospital, it is jus fantastic and you will receive great care! read more

I can't say enough about this hospital. My hip replacement and stay was the most positive hospital experience I have ever had at any hospital. The staff from beginning to end was positive, professional, humorous and uplifting. Even the receptionist was wonderful and helpful. I was taken care of very well by every staff member. I had no complications at all, no problems at all and overall a very positive experience. This small hospital I had never heard of has my vote for best hospital in the Twin Cites. Highly recommended. This review is for the emergency room. My family has used them for two little crises and they've messed up both times. First: hubby fell while running, skinned his knee really bad and then made the dumb mistake of getting into a public hot tub. Within a day (and of course this was on a Saturday night) his knee was hot, bright red, and swollen like a cantaloupe. I took him to the ER and we explained to the doc what had happened. Clearly the thing was infected, a slam dunk, but the ER doc insisted on drawing fluid out of the knee to determine if there was that was the case. He said it wasn't. I pressed him about it three times, reminding how it happened and that it was hot, red, and swollen. He insisted it was bursitis and sent hubby home with an ace bandage and Advil. The knee got worse over the next 36 hours and when we showed up at the regular doc Monday morning, he was shocked at the infection and pumped hubby's butt with penicillin right there. It took a month of antibiotics to get it under control. Second: I was brought in by ambulance in the middle of the night with a pinched nerve. I'm usually pretty stoic but this got my attention--pain so severe I could barely breathe. This time the ER doc (different guy) gave me an anti-inflamatory and sent me home. Five hours later I was back in excruciating pain and they wanted to do the same thing. I refused to leave until they dealt with the underlying cause--some kind of swelling impinging on a nerve. It took a lot of persistence on my part but after what happened to me earlier in the evening (and to hubby on a previous occasion) I wouldn't give in. They gave me a prescription for a steroid that did the trick and I didn't need to visit them again. You don't often have the luxury of choosing an emergency room, but if you do, pick someplace else. read more

In the ER Feb. 26 and hospital stay til Feb. 28. Need to praise and say special thank you to Karen in the ER for all she did to see that I was comfortable and taken care of. Diagnosed with early stage pneumonia (and already have COPD) which don't go together well. Placed on observation stay....and much praise to nurses and their assistants (Jen, Kylie, Laura, Eric, CHRISTIE, Sharon) and more I can't remember AND because I am doing very well at home now (with meds) I want to especially thank Lief (sp) my respiratory therapist.....He is very knowledgeable, caring concerned .... an all-around wonderful caregiver!! I recently had an abdominal emergency in the middle of the night. I was brought to the Lakeview ER by ambulance and right away the nurses and doctor assigned to me were in my room and assessing my situation. They made sure to get my pain under control and then sent me to get a CT scan. I was nervous about going to Lakeview after reading some pretty negative reviews, but I found my experience was really good (considering the circumstances). The staff was very considerate and I felt they really cared about me. I would recommend Lakeview ER department and will not hesitate to be brought there again in the event of another emergency. read more

Healthpartners closed out my complaint again with no resolution for me. Unlike Lakeview Administration telling me there was a miscommunication, Healthpatners Investigator told me that there was a LOSS of communication. Funny, if the MDA and the CRNA are supposed to be acting as a team, how is this possible without communication? There is also strong evidence of a cover up as the Anesthesiologist changed/added to my PRE-anesthesia notes AFTER I was unconscious and intubated. No reason for that after the fact except to cover up an error. The quality control manager and the Administration are all aware of this evidence and cover up but to date have done nothing for me. They are aware and not talking. I found out too that a large upgrade of their EPIC Software for health records was also scheduled for a couple weeks later and may have had something to do with the error as all staff would be working on retraining in preparation for the new commands, functions, etc. of the new version and probably had many providers confused. This appears to be how this hospital rolls, so if you want patient safety, I'd suggest looking elsewhere! read more

This hospital rocks! This is the second time my dear friend was there in the ICU. All the nurses and doctors were TOP notch!!! They were so caring, even sang Happy Birthday to my friend with a mini cake since he was there over his birthday. I could come any time of the day to visit. Everyone was so very thorough. We decided to deliver our daughter at Lakeview after touring both it and St. John's in Maplewood. We liked that the rooms were large (with a large "bed" for hubs to sleep on instead of a small pullout couch), they had tubs in every room if you chose to labor in them, and the room to staff ratio is extremely low (I think 1 nurse for 2 rooms). My water broke at home so we showed up and were immediately put in a room. Within 2 hours I had met the doctor who would deliver and gotten great attention from the nurse on duty. After the shift change, my nurse was particularly great (Amanda). All in all it was a great experience. Cons were: night staff wasn't the most pleasant to work with though they're on nights. And it's possible they were good but compared to the day nurses they were lacking. Food was hospital food. Even with only 4 rooms occupied in the Maternity ward, you had to jump on the food in the kitchen. If I were to have another child, I would certainly return to Lakeview and especially Doctor Dean. read more

My Aunt was brought by an ambulance,she usually attends United hospital . She has history of heart attacks and has lupus . As soon as she got here she got into a room, and the nurses were very rude , not attentive or listening to what she was saying . Her pain level was at a 10. She asked for a warm blanket, she didn't receive one so we had to ask for one for a second and third time . She ask for pain meds took them 30 minutes to get it to her as she's still in here throwing up. Very bad service. read more

I brought my 5 year old son into lakeview hospital last night after running into a Corner of a wooden door at full speed. He went in with a gaping wound to the nose. I let the lady at the desk know he was on coumadin a blood thinning medication due to having a mechanical valve and pace maker. My concern was internal bleeding. After sitting in waiting area for 25 min a nurse brought us back only to put a band aid on it and check his pupils. No doctor saw him. With coumadin u can have slow bleeds internally so pupils can still react normally. I was then told they were really busy and would have to go bAck out into the waiting room for most likely a hour in a half and at least he's breathing. At this point I was shocked. I was told by the mayo he needed to be seen immediately and had to leave and bring him to another emergency room. I understand they were busy but he's a child on a blood thinning medication so should of been seen fairly quickly buy a doctor. I would not recommend going to lakeview for anything serious because they have no idea what there doing. read more

Run away! This hospital and clinic attached (Stillwater Medical Clinic) are horrible! They find ways of charging your for tests that would otherwise be covered under insurance 100%. For instance, a routine ultrasound done in the clinic was charged as an outpatient hospital diagnostic test, and so my insurance would not cover at 100% because it's essentially the same as going to the emergency room and getting the test done. They do this without any notification to the patient about how things will be billed. Their "patient rep" has zero authority and skirts around any issue you have, resulting in nothing but frustration. Scott, the head of billing is awful to try to work anything out with and shuts you down without offering any solutions, basically saying "too bad for you". I will NEVER return to this hospital/clinic after my experience and the negative experiences of some of my friends (including subpar patient care). It is so worth it to drive the extra 15 minutes to Woodwinds!! read more
