We were looking for a campground in the Tri-Cities TN area, and most places were full. We decided…read moreto stay at Shadrack Campground in Bristol TN, which is close to Bristol Motor Speedway. Reservations were easy to make, and the person we spoke with was friendly. But, we were concerned because the sites on the online campground map looked pretty tight. We arrived late in the evening, so the office was closed. There was an envelope waiting for us on the door with campground and campsite information. The campground itself was pretty small, and the campsites were stacked right on top of each other. Also, the numbering system for the sites was confusing, and we weren't sure which site we were supposed to be using. When we found our site, there was a truck parked on our campsite. The campground manager saw that we were struggling and came to help. Comments on the campground: - The campground office and store were nice, but their hours are pretty limited. - People were quiet and respectful of each other. - The bath house was about 200 yards away, but it was nice, had lots of room and was clean. - WiFi was weak and unstable - There was no fire ring or fire pit and none were available for rent. We ended up going to Walmart and buying one that weighs 10 pounds, and we can take it with us in the future if a campsite doesn't have one. - The campsite was short, but our 30 foot travel trailer fit, just barely. - Even though the sites are very small, the utilities were not in a convenient location. We had to use 2 water hoses to connect fresh water and 3 sewer hoses to connect to the sewer. That was a pain, and I had to go to Walmart to buy extra hoses to finish setting up. We stayed for 4 nights. Overall, it was an ok stay. The campsite was functional, the campground store was nice, and the bathhouse was clean and nice. However, because of the small campsites being stacked on top of each other and the inconvenient utility hookups, we will look for other campgrounds the next time. I give Shadrack Campground a 4/10 overall.

Great campground. Was there for approximately 7 months as we shopped for a house. We were in a…read moreclass A. As it was off season there was lots of room between camping spots. We were close to the river so could hear it babbling away. Very peaceful. Campground is well kept, clean, and reasonably priced Would definitely recommend. Close. To Bristol Motor Speedway

We stayed here from June 10th to June 14th, and I can't say enough good things about the campground…read moreand the hosts. From the moment you arrive, they go above and beyond--checking you in, helping deliver hay and supplies to the barn, assisting you with backing in your trailer, and even knowing exactly what's needed to get it leveled. The paddocks are fantastic and give your horses plenty of space to roam and relax after a long ride. Everything was well-maintained--clean, freshly mowed, and the bathrooms were spotless and spacious. As for the trails, there aren't many. The main 8-mile trail is mostly an old blacktop/gravel road. We also rode the Morrell Trail, which takes you to the top of the mountain. Be prepared for a lot of switchbacks--about 16 inches wide--with a drop-off on one side and a dirt or rock wall on the other. We had an inexperienced rider with us on a solid horse and had no issues. I'm glad we did it, but I probably wouldn't do it again--lol. I've seen some comments about the road leading into the campground. Yes, it is narrow, but I didn't have any problems with my 35-foot truck and trailer. Honestly, I've been on narrower roads in Indiana. We also took a day trip to the Blue Hole, which is definitely worth visiting--especially on a hot day. One tip: don't wear flip-flops for the walk down.

Two nights here and I would have stayed longer but I really need a place with a bit more bandwidth…read more If you're looking for quiet, secluded and peaceful, this is the spot. It is a small RV park and it's a mile and a half down a quiet lane, well away from just about everything. A full size Class A would be challenging but doable. I managed to do okay with my Class C. The park has a nice bathhouse, a nice area for campfires and plenty of trees. My parking spot was level, the electric and water worked great. And yes, they do have a wifi but it only just barely reached my spot. And Sprint was useless. This campground wasn't for me, but it may be for you. Not any equipment or construction was taking place. When approached by Robbie, we asked if we could continue on, he said yes, which we did. My original comment stands about the terrible confidence and treatment of campers at this campsite again if you'd like to be on the edge and be criticized and watched over every second of the day to be pounded by the representatives of d deserve Downbythe river, a lot of go ahead and stay there. I have no recommendations for you for this campsite. It is, as mentioned unfriendly hosts. I have been a safety director for many years And there was NO safety issue. In fact I had noticed several OSHA violations at this campsite which I have not yet sent to the NC DOL.

Plenty of nice trees provide shading with plenty of grass instead of dirt or muddy areas. They have a covered social area on the creek with nice big fireplace. This seems to be a gathering spot at night. Several rocking chairs to pull in front of the fireplace and relax. The area itself is very convenient to a lot of NC Mountain landmarks. The Blue Ridge Parkway is approx. 1.5 miles away, Linville Falls is a 10-12 minute drive, Linville Caverns is a 20 minute drive, Grandfather Mountain approx. 20 minutes, and Tweetsie Railroad is about 35 minutes. Bottom line is this is a very nice family campground, friendly staff, and great location. We have now visited twice and will be back.
