Vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate and cinnamon
    Jen W.

It was a brutally cold snowy winter's night and I a weary traveler. I had arrived in Winnipeg that evening by bus, one that I had been traveling in for more than two days. I had a five hour layover ahead of me so I decided I needed to get away from the bus depot for awhile. I set out to do the four minute journey to the airport. My nose was freezing from the inside. I'd never experienced cold weather like this before. To my surprise, a minute into my walk I was at the entrance of a hotel. I cheerfully walked in and made my way to the restaurant. Once I looked over the menu the only thing I craved was ice cream and coffee. The waiter was nice and attentive. He only had three tables in use so the place wad pretty quiet. He brought out a presentable glass of light and flaky vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce and cinnamon sprinkled over that. And with that a cup of decent house coffee. Even though temperatures were below freezing outside, all I wanted was a tasty ice cold treat. Afterwards, I went out to the lobby and sat next to the fire and watch the hockey game. Apparently it was a big game and Canada was in the lead which was an even bigger deal. All in all, it was a cozy night. At least for five hours...

    Ruben & House Salad

I've stayed her maybe 10 times and every single time have had an outstanding experience. All the staff are so polite and welcoming and very helpful, the shuttle bus & valet are great and the restaurant is really good. The menu is pretty large and variety is the word for sure for a hotel at the airport but the dishes are always great. Tonight ordered the Ruben (without sauerkraut) with salad and a nice draft Stella - it was fantastic !! There is a sports bar and a lounge as well. The lobby is so cozy with a nice warm fireplace and lots of spaces to sit and relax.

Facility is new and clean. I have some issues with the noise and soundproofing in the room. Not only will people hear you and others having sex, in the morning, you'll be awaken to housekeeping knocking on the door and announcing themselves at least 4 times. I'm talking about housekeepers knocking on a door that isn't yours. You'll still hear it. I think 2 should be enough, but I understand that they may have had events that made them change it to 4 + times. I know they're just doing their job, but it definitely woke me up when I didn't want to be. Getting there can be confusing for uber/lyft drivers so if you order anything from ubereats or doordash, you have to leave them extra instructions on how to get to the location. Location is great if you want to just walk out of the airport and walk to your hotel, however, there are not a lot of conveniences nearby such as a store to get some basic things unless you get a car. While the hotel itself has a shop downstairs, it is overpriced. If you have a friend that you're meeting up with in town and they have a car, I highly recommend asking for a ride to a convenient store to pick up some basic stuff so you don't have to shop at the downstairs shop. The starbucks has odd hours and my sleep schedule was messed up due to jetlag and I'd miss the windows they were open. Sort of wish they had a way for a guest to be able to get to your floor without you needing to go down to get them. The staff was great though, so theres that. I was given a free water when I was checking in. They were always friendly and attentive. If they were free, you'd get greeted. No complaints on the staff other than the whole housekeepers knocking a lot.

It was a good location for us being in the south end of the city. The centre was clean, updated and neutral. They had a really great set up whether you were to have your social, wedding or conference here. Their pricing was excellent for the service you got. They set up everything for us - all we needed to do was place our prizing. They also completely cleaned and took everything down so when 1am hit we could just go home. The staff was very friendly and Quincy was a life saver many times. The communication was spot on and I would recommend this venue to anyone!

Yes, I…read morerealize it's a community centre but it seems so new that I thought it would be a decent venue for a wedding. Maybe this place looked good when it first opened but the place needs to be freshened up. The washrooms looked quite used and has seen better times. The courtyard looked run down and had a few picnic tables. The main hall is fairly large but the decor is pretty dated. Only when the lights are dimmed does the banquet hall look okay. The cash bar is ridiculously overpriced at $5.50 for bad wine (but the cheap wine selection is likely attributed to the bridge & groom) and $5.00 for any other mixed drink like rye & coke or beer. Those prices seemed a bit steep as I asked others what they thought of the pricing. But then again, I think cash bars for an entire reception is pretty lame. Can you not afford to treat your family and friends for an hour or two of booze and then switch to a cash bar? I digress. The food was terrible which is a shock because this place runs a cafe that's connected to this centre that serves up Italian-style lunch buffet during the weekday called "Cafe 13." They only charge like $28 per plate for chicken dinners - this includes, bread, salad, entree with 2 sides and a dessert. I never have high hopes for wedding food but I barely ate mine. The best parts of the meal were the very average tasting dinner buns. The salad was soggy as it was likely dressed too early, then the chicken stuffed with ham and cheese was greasy and unappetizing. The side dishes were also very greasy. The chocolate cake dessert was a bit dry but ranks as the second best item of that night after the dinner buns. The bartenders and servers were nice and had interesting personalities. But in terms of food and overall venue, I wouldn't recommend this for a wedding unless you have no other choice and if you are bringing in your own caterer. Plus, the location of this place is off of Wilkes, in a very industrial area so it's not even scenic enough to take photos around here.

The hotel is ~10 min from the Winnipeg airport so there are some taxis around, but the hotel staff are very nice about requesting taxis for their guests - just ask! Almost every taxi should accept credit card. The airport shuttle was sometimes questionable since it covers other hotels too but when it's available, it's an easy/free ride to the airport. Good to call ahead of time to make sure it is ready. I really liked the hotel restaurant, which operated from 6am-10:30pm? The menu options were all fairly pricey, but the quality and volume of food definitely made up for it. The wok fry was an interesting dish with yellow Thai curry, vegetables, and egg noodles (a lot). The fried tempura ice cream was awesome but I probably should have shared with one other person. The ice cream and strawberries were sweet and cool while the tempura crust was toast and crispy The Hilton club was also a really good lunch sandwich. Very filling but not heavy at all. The avocados were very fresh. Beware the crispy toast - it is a big sandwich so the bread can be abrasive if you go at it too aggressively. I still recommend it though.
