A modest small hotel in a great location. We stayed two nights prior to a trip up to Churchill. Our room on the 4th floor was tidy, had a fantastic view of the Human Rights Museum and bike sculpture, sported a king bed and sitting area and a modest, older bathroom. While we had a tub, the phone-booth sized plastic insert shower was a real disappointment. The bathrooms are really ready for a refresh. Housekeeping kept things very clean and the hallways and lobby project a nice vibe. There was quite a lot of loud door slamming from the heavy solid doors that necessitated using my trusty foam ear plugs for sleeping. The breakfast (included in our rate) was a tale of two extremes. During the work week we were allowed to order off a limited menu with Benedict's pancakes and more served in ample portions. On Saturday there was a meager "buffet" of institutional scrambled eggs, bacon, mixed fruit and grocery store mini muffins-something below even a U.S. best western. In addition the WiFi was wholly inadequate for posting photos and I ended up turning it off on my phone. For a short stay in Winnipeg you can't beat the location-directly across from the Market at the Forks food hall and short walk to many attractions. read more

I had a fantastic time in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While there I stayed at the Inn at the Forks. The hotel is located conveniently downtown within walking distance of the Forks Market, the Human Rights Museums, and more. The hotel is modern and luxurious. It's also very quiet which is great for resting after a long day of exploring the Peg. The bed was so comfortable that I slept the whole night through. I usually get up a few times in the middle of the night so I felt very rested in the morning. I loved the modern feel of the bathroom. It was clean and spacious. The shower head was powerful which is really important to me. I don't drink caffeine. Instead, I take a nice hot shower in the morning to get my day started. If you do drink coffee though they have a coffee machine in the room for you. All the employees I came in contact with were friendly and polite. There's a restaurant on site that's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We ate breakfast there and it was delicious. One of the evenings I walked in I heard live music coming from the restaurant. I had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to stay again. It's quiet, comfortable, and modern. read more

Would give it negative 5 stars if I could. This place is billed as a luxury place, but, the emperor has no clothes. Its a mirage! Taking a much needed vacation, I bought the hype and booked a gold suite which is charged out at over 600.00 per night. The suites are billed as having a view of either the river or the Human Rights Museum. My room had a view of the parking lot out of the one window in the bedroom and an industrial view out of the one window in the main area. The room is dated and uncomfortable. I could not have been more disappointed. From the first contact I was confronted with unprofessional and unhelpful staff. When checking in, your equipment kept cancelling my transaction for some reason. Finally. I suggested they try to do the transaction manually which was finally successful. I'd emailed ahead with a 157 page to be printed. The front desk staff handed me this thick document without even a clip. I asked if they had an envelope or something to make it easier to carry upstairs (along with my luggage in one hand an my walking stick in the other). After an inordinate amount of time they came back with nothing. The front desk person asked if I would like if they would deliver it to my room. I said yes, that would be very helpful. Then as I was leaving to go upstairs to my room, she said "oh, you want me to bring it up?" Well, I thought we had already settled that. Flustered and frustrated I just took it myself and juggled it along with my luggage up to my room. The room. What a disappointment. First, I expected it to be on a higher floor. Having booked it months ago, one would think a higher floor would be reserved for me. Second, the webpage states that the suites have a view of the river or the museum. I had a view of the parking log and another industrial site. Further. There is only one window in the main part of the suite making it dark and dingy. The cushions on the pull-out bed slip off with just normal seating on it. The mini bar has no non-alcoholic beverages except for water which is not some designer water, just water bottled by the hotel for five dollars, no microwave, no hotel stationary, and really nothing to suggest luxury at all. Very basic. The bathroom has only one sink and there was only one bar of soap. No hand soap plus soap for bathing. The amenities were something I would expect at a budget motel. I spent most of my time in the bedroom as it was the lightest place in the suite and not totally depressing to spend time in. The TV system is problematic. Every single time I wanted to watch a little TV I would get to the guide and before I could select a channel, it would revert to the q code page. I might as well have just booked a king room, and have no idea how you justify charging 629.00 for this barebones, depressing space. For example. the lovely James Hotel in Saskatoon charges half that for a full one bedroom suite complete with a balcony, full view of the river and the university with top drawer amenities and fantastic service including an a la carte complimentary breakfast room. Then we get to the so-called business centre. I had a news article to complete while away and assumed I would be able to do that at the business centre. Well, it should not be called a business centre at all. It's a computer, with no printer, in the middle of the lobby. How could anyone work there. Nonetheless, I gave it a try. The computer wasn't working. I instead went for breakfast and called the front desk to tell them it was not working. They peppered me with questions about what was wrong with it. I told them it's not my job to diagnose the problem they are having with the computer. When it was finally fixed, I was extremely disappointed to discover there are no programs on the computer to do any work. Basically, a person can check their email and that's it. That is not a business centre. And then the restaurant. Good food. At least I can say that. The waitstaff are however unprofessional in that they overly familiar to the point of intruding on the conversations of guests. And finally, my last night at the hotel (I tried to get a flight a day early just to get out of there) I went down for dinner to discover the restaurant was being used for a wedding reception. Of course, no advance warning to guests. And then I had to listed to a bad wedding singer band until 1:30 in the morning. What a disappointment. What a shadow cast on my vacation. And, when I made my concerns known to the hotel management they absolutely refused to compensate me other than offering an upgrade if I would return. Why would I ever return? Disappointing first time stay, no parking for the hotel, told from the front desk woman who was little to no help that we had to find parking on the street. Intoxicated people in the lobby yelling about bus fare and no security to be found. No internet in room, even after a call to the front desk, a guy shows up to see it not working and then he left, never came back. For having nothing more then location, this is not a reason to stay here. If it just a bed they offer and nothing else, then take an Uber to the forks and stay at somewhere else. read more

Great location, just ok rooms. AC was A problem the whole week I was there and no one could tell me if it was fixable. Tried to have it fixed multiple times but it never got better. Unfortunate that they staff did not communicate more effectively. If you're tall there may be problems with the shower. Some rooms have a stall shower that is quite compact which makes it difficult to wash hair without contorting your body to get under the spray. The hotel is connect to Smith's restaurant which is spectacular however the hotel does not live up to the same standard. read more

I spent last night at the Inn at the Forks. The room was $220 (plus taxes). Parking is a block away. You can either park it yourself for $15 (which I did) or have it valet parked for $20. WIFI is included and it's quick. There is no microwave oven or mini fridge in the room but there is a safe tucked in the desk drawer. It's next door to the Forks Market among other things and there is a spa in the hotel (alas, I didn't have time to enjoy any of the services). read more

The hotel is in a newly developed area by the river(s).... and within walking distance to the Hotel Fort Garry. Hotel is located right at the junction of the two big rivers... exciting time in April when both rivers were rising.... My room has the "new hotel" smell... nicely appointed... surrounding amenities quite nice... Only complaint is poor ventilation in hotel gym and equipment kinda meagre... 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, 1 recumbent bike and the basic weight machine... however the room is poorly ventilated and kinda stank.... Med school function in hotel... dinner was pretty decent.... beef done just right and seasoned perfectly.... quite impressed read more

True, genuine hospitality - which is leading me to write my first, ever yelp review. Yesterday my flight was cancelled and I was booked at this hotel via a third party travel agency. When I arrived, the booking seemed to be a glitch in the system (there was no room available), but both ladies at the front desk called several hotels trying to find me a room. Every hotel in the city and near the airport was completely sold out because of a conference and concert going on locally, therefore, I had no where to sleep and I was traveling from the US. Finally, I gave up and went back to the airport to sleep. When I arrived at the airport, I got a called from Prabhdeep (front desk agent) and she informed me there was a cancellation. She went above and beyond to get my contact information, so I had a place to sleep for the night for a few hours. I cannot think her enough for making my stay in Winnipeg both safe and comfortable. I studied hospitality in college, and I know it can be a difficult industry to work in. I can truly say that I was touched by how much Prabhdeep cared about me and my wellbeing during my travels. I did not know the true meaning of hospitality until my stay at Inn at the Forks. read more

I expected a lot when I booked a room at Inn at the Forks. To be honest, Canadian hotels usually deliver on the quality and value front. It was a quality room with decent amenities but I am not sure it was worth it. Winnipeg is a weird town in that the centre is not where everything is. There are a lot of centres scattered around the city and the Portage and Main hub is not necessarily where everyone goes to. So having a room in the centre of Winnipeg is not like being in the centre of London or Glasgow. It usually means that you are pretty far away from where you need to be. If you need to be in the heart of Winnipeg then Inn at the Forks is the only place to be. Otherwise, getting a cheaper room and a rental car in one of the other major hotels scattered around the city would probably serve you better. The quality of the rooms would probably not differ. I would not book a room there again. It looks like a Vintage Motel from the outside and it does not do much to surpass that on the inside. read more

I was visiting U. of Winnipeg on business and the architect recommended we stay at The Inn at the Forks. The Forks being the Red River and the Assiniboine River intersection. The area has a childrens' museum, gift shops, in the winter a snowboard park, river ice skating, hockey and a rink for ice skating. There are a few activities to do in the area. Very nice. The university is probably a 10 minute drive to/from the hotel during rush the hours. I was checked into a 3rd floor double bed room with a north view of the park at The Forks, CanWest Global Baseball Park and the Riel Bridge Esplanade. - Larger than standard room with a typical lay-out - Desk area w/power & data connections - Easy chair in the corner - Standard size TV - Tile floors in restroom - Two double beds - Armoires, no closets - Ironing bard and iron in one armoire - Pillows - each bed had (3) pillows - Standard tub/shower - No kitchen - No drinks or snacks in room provided - Decor is quite nice and the bathroom sink is very cool - Business center located in the lobby - Shuttle service - Spaghetti Factory across the way Overall, my stay was excellent. Room service was great , food was great. The hotel restaurant, The Current, offers some excellent meal choices. I tried some musk ox one evening and immediately felt guilty. Doesn't make sense, does it. The lounge has great afternoon/evening lighting and my colleagues and I stayed in the lounge to eat dinner. The breakfast menu offers some great choices as well with healthy eating in mind. The theme of the hotel is kind of a river/fish thing, but very nicely done. No singing trouts on the wall. I highly recommend this hotel. The one change I would make is to have my room farther away from the loading dock. I was awakened at 6:00am each morning by the opening and shutting of truck doors and loading dock doors. read more

I stayed at the Inn at the Forks on a recent weekend trip to Winnipeg with my wife. The hotel is centrally located right next to Downtown Winnipeg so getting everywhere we needed to was pretty easy. It is located right next to The Forks, which is a bit touristy, but given that we were first time visitors, this was not a bad thing. We booked a special weekend deal, so we were able to utilize the parking lot and valet for "free" or at least have it included in the room rate. We also got a $50 gift card...that we were able to use towards the room...which we did. The staff was very friendly and attentive. And the room was comfortable if not particularly fancy or special in any way. All in all, I would recommend a stay at the Inn at the Fork s for people visiting Winnipeg. But you definitely should have your car so you can get around. read more

As an occasional visitor/business traveler to Winnipeg, it took me a few tries to find a nice hotel. The Inn at the Forks is a nice boutique-style hotel located adjacent to the Forks, which is an historic shopping and dining area located at the point where the Red River meets the Assiniboine River. The hotel includes a spa for those so inclined and is easy walking distance to multiple restaurants and activities. The rooms are modern and comfortable as are the beds. The hotel bar is a great place to catch up on the game over a few beers or have a martini with friends. The restaurant is pretty good with a nice selection of offerings. For those who hate to eat at the hotel where they are staying, I suggest Sydney's in the adjacent marketplace. Stellar food! read more

Parking was convenient. Check-in was seamless. Room was clean and ready, even though we showed up a bit early. We were in a Luxury Suite, which was the perfect place to spend a night away to relax and disconnect from the world. Review is based on the conference room setting as I did not stay in the rooms. If you are arranging a conference, it's a nice setting due to it's location at the Forks. The conference room itself is nothing special. I am not sure about the difference types of conference rooms available but we had one that was medium to large that can easily accommodate 30 or so people. The room was set at an uncomfortably cold level - a sentiment that was echoed by many of the men in the room as well. Though staff did alter the temp after we told them. Chairs were not comfortable at all as they were very hard on the bum! Also, the tables were at this weird height so it was hard to cross your legs without banging your knees against the table. Food was medicore. The fruit platters were nice and full with lots of varieties. Hot breakfast was okay; I like that they provided mini sized danishes. Coffee was a little weak. Sandwiches were decent and offered lots of options. Desserts were terribly dry and the cookies were monster size (who needs that mid-day in a conference) and tasted like they were a few days old. I found many of the dishes to be dirty. Several water glasses at the table had this rough grimey feel on the outside. And upon inspection, the glasses were not cleaned thoroughly. Ew. Staff are nice and friendly. Overall, okay place for a conference, nothing amazing but nothing terrible though I'd like them to improve on the cleanliness of their dishes. read more

We went for lunch on March 13/18. The service was very good and the waiter very friendly. Unfortunately the quality of the food was a huge disappointment. My wife had a Ruben Sandwich, her comment"this is probably the worst Ruben I have every had". The corned beef was of very low quality, extremely salty and the bread was soggy with awful tasting sauce. My quesadilla was not much better, it was quite tasteless. I had a horrible experience at the Inn a few days ago. Besides its amazing kid friendly location it was dreadful. I was greeted by a few of the front desk receptionists who had a few problems checking me in due to the heavy traffic in the lobby. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was mediocre at best. It looked like a 'renovated' late 80's motel with a nice sink in the bathroom. The pull out bed was really thin and springy. The king size bed was average (motel def not hotel standard). I noticed there was a lack of electrical outlets. The views from the fifth floor were really nice. We were unable to call room service upon check in due to the phones not working. Headed down to the lobby to see that it was still busy and went into the Forks for alternative food options. We came back for bedtime wanting to take a bath to run a tub full of disgusting dark yellow water. My daughter opted out and took a shower instead. We crawled into bed wanting to rent a movie and call an early night. Unfortunately the remote control was unresponsive and it was the typical fight with the controller due to dying batteries. Tried calling downstairs but no tone for the phone again. After 30 mins battling it out with the remote we were able to rent 'epic'. During the late evening I decided to stay an extra day because we wanted to see more of the Forks. Was told that it wouldn't be a problem so I headed to bed. Throughout the night there was continuous building noises (plumbing?) and just a restless night overall. I woke up to breakfast from a friendly room service staff member. Pleasant smile and warm food who could complain?! Breakfast was mediocre as the toast was soggy and potatoes were cold. At this point I was notified that they were unable to fill my request due to a mistaken overview of their system. No apology for any inconvenience it may have caused for my stay or anything. Wow that was nice way to start my day. If I knew I needed to check out early in the am I wouldn't had ordered my breakfast as late and I might've packed the night before. My morning of my so called vacation was ruined by the chaos it caused due to a horrible experience here. I understand that I might've been a one off with my experience but I do not recommend this hotel due to some of the things I mentioned above. I wasn't looking for a free ride, I was hoping to maybe having some sort of management present when a few of these issues were mentioned. The hotel is really over priced. Stay next door in the Fort Garry Hotel castle for a better deal. As for the spa inside the hotel... The spa was the worst spa in Winnipeg. Save your money and go to Ten Spa at the Fort Garry Hotel. When we first arrived, we thought our massages were going to be in the actual spa, but instead we were whisked away to the 3rd floor to a converted hotel room. Not very romantic. Part of our package was champagne and truffles for $30. We got a sample bottle of champagne to fill one glass and a truffle box 1.5 inch square. What a deal! During the entire massage, we heard the ice machine, and kids running up and down the hallway. How is this relaxing As we got the massage the masseuse applied a little too much pressure around my shoulder blades, so I asked politely for her to ease the pressure. She then stopped all together and proceeded to a new muscle group. When we walked back to the desk to pay for the services we were shocked to see that we were forced to pay a 15% gratuity. I was going to tip the ladies myself, but this gratuity should be at the customer's discretion. Finally we sat in the front to wait for our shoes to be brought back to us...after 10 minutes still nothing. So I had to finally speak up to the ladies at the front counter who had been chatting all this time to remind them of our shoes. After a long wait, one of the ladies finally brought them to us. After complaining to the manager about the poor service, she said she was going to refund some money back to our credit card. Still until this day we have not received any compensation. Just horrible. Stay away and go to Ten Spa instead! There, they treat you like a king and queen. read more

I know this is going to seem oddly specific point to gripe on, but if Internet speeds, heck even connecting to the Internet is important to you, do not stay at this hotel. I've been here three times and last year, and while the rooms are ok, clean with a decent view of the city, trying to get anything done online is utterly pointless. Below 1mbps is the average; hardly fast enough to do anything more than send an attachment-less email. They offer no paid or tiered service, unlike most other higher end hotels. Again, I have no complaints about the amenities or lodging other than this one major complaint, but it's a pretty big one if you were trying to get work done in your hotel room. My Grandpa and I went to Winnipeg and stayed at the Inn at the Forks...using my mom's Yelp account. it was a great service hotel, because of kit i would recommend to everybody that is staying in Winnipeg to to stay at inn at the forks!!!!!!!!!! I liked it because people were friendly and there was great service. I have stayed at lots of hotels and I liked this one especially because nearby things, it was social and welcoming. Kit was especially helpful with getting us places and with our navigation. he was always courteous and gave good suggestions. This hotel is nicely decorated however the rooms are a bit dated. The location is convenient and the staff are very friendly. On the down side, when I went to have a shower the water was luke warm at best despire running it for 20 minutes. How uncomfortable to be in one of the coldest cities in Canada and not be able to take a hot shower. I'm still shivering! read more
