After all Lifesavers tasted better then the communion wafer. Holy Rois a nice classic church providing Catholic spiritual teachings to all. I think if your a practicing Catholic you'll appreciate coming here. I'm a sinner now but someday I'll repent and I may come for the cleaning of my soul.

As to the owner, we all are connected to God or gods in some way, so maybe NOBODY should review churches. But, here goes. Our Redeemers has a fairly large congregation, does two services, an early contemporary service and a later traditional service. I go to the later one cause my wife likes to stay in bed later on Sunday. The church is involved in a lot of outreach issues within Ballard, including feeding and homeless programs and rallies to increase awareness of human trafficking, We are up on the hill about 25 blocks north of the Ballard business district and have a large parking lot,which helps. We have an adjacent area that we allow to be used as a Pea Patch, so we have some nice links to our neighbors through that. A little more controversial, we have hosted Tent City in the aforementioned parking lot. Like a couple other Lutheran churches in NW Seattle, we have a woman pastor, which seems to work out just fine, we have an active Sunday school and youth program, and while we have a very aggressive budget for all these activities, it seems we always have just a little less than we need in terms of dollars to do all that we want to....which is probably how it should be.

It feels a little weird to review a church since, until last Sunday, I had not been to mass in…read moreabout 4-5 years. I went to Catholic school until college, went to church every week, participated in religious activities, etc. I stopped attending mass on a regular basis when I was 19, so I guess you could consider me a lapsed Catholic. My mom was in town recently and wanted to go to church. I picked Holy Family because I can walk there in about 5 minutes. I believe they have 5 masses on Sunday: two in English, two in Spanish and one in Tagalog. The inside of the church is really pretty. I've been in several gaudy, ridiculously decorated churches and this isn't one of them. I especially liked their stained glass windows. As far as the service goes, its your traditional Catholic ceremony without any new rockin' hymns or anything like that. Gotta say, I was having major deja vu the whole time we were there. This place definitely reminded me of my church growing up. I always thought the most boring part of church was the sermon. I usually just zoned out during that time and expected to do the same here. But the priest was actually funny, so I did listen to the sermon for the first time in years. I think the congregation here is pretty representative of the White Center neighborhood, diverse in age and race. You won't find me hitting up church again on my own, but I'd probably come back if my mom was in town again.
