My family is on a road trip, moving from WA State to San Antonio. My husband, young siblings and I stopped by for dinner two hours before closing. No greeting, slow service, masks not being worn. The waitress seemed tired and said she was working there alone. Even so, she didn't really seem to care about offering a quality service by any means. She sighed and looked frustrated every time we ordered (and we weren't getting complex things. Just tacos and chicken tenders and such) and she wasn't sure if my husbands WA State Drivers License was valid. She was very hesitant to give him a single beer. She only checked on us once while we ate and I can only assume she was working the outdoor dining area the rest of the time. We spent a lot of time waiting on her to come back in to ask for the bill and anything else. The food itself wasn't great. Fried food was all pretty soggy. Aside from water, there were only 5 non alcoholic options. Literally just lemonade, ice tea, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, and Diet Coke. No other sodas or juices. We had to ask for condiments multiple times and still didn't get them all. When we ordered our food, I let the waitress know that my mother and youngest sister were resting at the hotel and that we would be making another order to go after they had a chance to view some photos of the menu. Towards the end, when she finally came back inside and asked if we were ready to pay, I reminded her that I still needed to order for the rest of my family. She reluctantly took the order (chicken tenders, some tacos with strictly no meat because my mom is a vegetarian, and a sprite) and told us the bill total. Apparently because we had 5 or more plates (we had 4 in house and 2 to go) they charged us automatic gratuity of 20%. Due to poor service I would have tipped less, but okay. I get it. I'm from the PNW and there, automatic gratuity isn't usually charged unless there are like 10+ people, but lots of things are different down here. Maybe that's normal for this area. I don't know. They didn't give us any of the condiments for the to go order, didn't give us the Sprite that we paid for, and to top off the night, the tacos had beef on them. We are exhausted from traveling for days and were really hoping for a nice, relaxing dinner. What we got was a subpar meal that we had to double and triple check, paired with horrible service. If we had shown up 10 minutes to close, I would understand a couple of the issues, but we arrived hours before closing. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. Too bad. read more

Arrived for late lunch/early dinner at 3p. There were only 2 other guests dining. Waitress was nice, but service was very slow with little anticipation of needs. Food was overpriced for the quality. Queso was lukewarm by the time we got our chips (not kidding, 5 minutes later) and seemed like it was from a can ($7.95). Beef enchiladas were decent, but very little spice. 5 minutes off the highway and found reasonably priced very good Mexican food. Hubby had his favorite green enchiladas without usual sour cream but nevertheless very enjoyable. Always indecisive or wanting to sample several items, I enjoyed Kiki's plate with cheese enchilada, flauta, crispy taco, rice and super tasty refried beans. Salsa thick and with a kick - just the way I like it. We were going to glance inside and decide of we wanted to stay but greeted with a smile and place empty so we did. We stopped for a quick lunch on our road trip. We got mostly burritos to go. They were very accommodating to our customizations & made sure to differentiate the burritos so we knew which were which. The tortillas were VERY good. Our server brought us chips & salsa & waters while we waited for our order. She was great, I wish I had noticed her name. This place is not only conveniently close to my mom's house BUT it has a couple of food items that I enjoy! If you are in the mood for loaded chalupas then Irene's plate ($8.95) is for you. You get 2 chalupas with beans, hamburger meat, lettuce and tomato plus a side order of rice. They are not stingy with the amount of meat that they put on there. Their chips and salsa are also pretty good. The other food item that is Da Bomb is their burgers. They are reminiscent of ol' diner burgers or concession stand burgers. By this I mean, the touch of grease on the bun as you hold the burger wrapped in tissue. Also the smell of real meat also fills your nostrils. Their burgers ($7.85/$8.25 for cheeseburger) come with fries. The fries are also great! I'm sure if you come by this place you can find something that you will like. Great food, great service, and super kid friendly. We stumbled upon Lala's while driving through Sonora. My husband and I both ordered the carne asada street tacos and were not disappointed. I stopped at Sonora to get something to eat while passing by. I decided to stop at Lala's and got the street taco's. The customer service was good but they did forget to give me utensils and napkins. The rices was eatable but definitely not worth what I paid for. The beans were still hard. This place definitely needs improvement on there food. The can drinks $1.75 is to much for a can drink. Maybe $1 or $1.25 at the most. My conclusion is that this place is not worth stopping. read more

Wow! I think this is someone's house. It was in a bad part of town. We were hesitant to go in but we were hungry. It smelled like moth balls. You couldn't flush toilet paper down the toilet. Poopy toilet paper in the trash can people! We left before we ordered. Disgusting!!! read more

Stopped in here on our way out to Ft. Davis after finding it on Yelp. No regrets. I had the soft taco plate ((chicken). Taste was good. Homemade tortillas were a surprise and good. Wonderful small local Mex restaurant in a small town. We came in mid-afternoon and had the green chicken enchiladas and sopapillas with powdered sugar and honey. All was fresh and well cooked including some of the best refried beans ever. Menu limited but seems to do what they do well. Service was very friendly, atmosphere welcoming to strangers, very clean. About a mile off the interstate but well worth passing up other places to get there. Try them! read more
