A wonderful way to Whileaway a hot summer afternoon at a great venue it's small and intimate and doesn't have a bad seat. This show was a history of America through documentary film clippings as well as the music of each era in the 20th century. The cast is extremely talented with their singing and dancing in the costumes and choreography are excellent. And the best part is the band that makes the music happen and just keeps my footstomping the entire time. The selection of historical events and music that they chose was great and capture each era. I've been coming to lambs players for years and I've never been disappointed and I always leave with a smile on my face and I look forward to seeing the next show that catches my eye. Parking is easy in the neighborhoods because they don't have any metered parking and They also don't have signage for two hour parking. read more

Trip to Bountiful took us on an emotional roller coaster! We were so enthralled by this play that we were talking to friends as far away as Virginia about it. The main character stole our hearts with her longings, memories and determination. We saw elements of our own mortality in her experiences and it has prompted us to talk about some of those things with each other over the past several days. We highly recommend this play to everyone. I am amazed at how easily we visualized invisible things - like a house, birds singing, buses and trains, a tree with a swing, etc. because the actors made those things real with their gestures, words, and mannerisms. read more

We didn't know what to expect, but were totally surprised at the talent. This team can sing any style or play any music. We always knew that when you hear a song, you are immediately transferred to the time when you were listening for the first time. The program was amazing with how the timeline of world events and music told a story of America over the years. I recommend this performance if any one likes music or can tap your foot. After the show, I approached the staff in the lobby and asked if there was a recording or soundtrack of the show. For almost 3 hours I experienced music history that should not be forgotten. read more

We saw the music of the 1970's and it was amazing. The musicians and vocalists were very talented and they played so many different artists from the 70's! The production crew was top notch and also did an excellent job! I was especially blown away by the bassist. This girl was on it and honestly I think she stole the show!! I loved this cozy little theater and highly recommend seeing the Million Dollar Quartet at the Lamb. It's worth the short drive over to Coronado. We got lucky with street parking. It wasn't too difficult to show our tickets to enter and get seated as the theater is quite small. Almost any seat is probably a good seat because it's so cozy. There is very little leg room, so that could be a bit of a squeeze for taller folks. Million Dollar Quartet was such a fun show. I loved the musicality and the performance of it all! BASKERVILLE. Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's mystery classic, "The Hounds of Baskerville", the production by Lamb's Players Theatre is neither a classic nor a mystery. It's a slapstic production, an attempt at comedy. Those expecting a murder mystery as well as those expecting a comedy will both be disappointed. The theater itself is a semi-circle indoor amphitheater about eight or ten rows high. The steps are rather steep, and the first look down can be a bit vertigo-inducing, but the view of the floor-level stage is excellent. The seats are small, barely fitting an average size male. There is no footroom beyond the toes of your shoes, and most men's shoulders will overhang the armrests. No wiggle room, period. Unfortunately "Baskerville" did not allow for an intermission, instead plodding on for 90 minutes. Sitting absolutely still for 90 minutes is not comfortable for most people. The play consisted of an ensemble cast of five playing about three dozen characters. There were numerous frantic wardrobe changes, and many wigs, mustaches, complete costume changes and a few props. The use of smoke was effective in simulating fog. The venue was almost sold out, the only remaining open seats were at the edges of the semi-circle. And yet, laughter was at best subdued and polite throughout the performance. One memorable scene was the sudden appearance of the cowboy character wearing only red longjohns, a white cowboy hat and a chromed Colt six-shooter. I cannot recall any others. This was a wonderful production, if judged solely by Senior High School standards. Much of the dialogue was simply not intelligible, due to the fake British accents attempted and the inability of certain cast members to project their voice sufficiently, even in this intimate venue. Why does Lamb's present such substandard fare? The answer lies in the sold-out condition of the venue. Money talks, and certainly, Lamb's needs revenue. But Lamb's Players Theatre also needs repeat attendance. I doubt this production will result in any. read more

When the "comedy " relies on screaming, ridiculous fake mustaches and Dr Watson w a speech impediment (every 3 word was completely unintelligible), you'll wish for a refund 6 minutes in. This is far beneath the typical LPs effort. I was surprised the 'wrap-up' at the end wasn't done with sock puppets. What a mockery of good theater. The current production COTTON PATCH REVIVAL is a dud. The band wanders onstage and plays two dull songs. No real introduction . THE entire production is seemingly without direction. Absolutely best part is when it finally to a stop. It is the compilation of southern revival with a weak plot. Waste of an evening. read more

We had major trouble enjoying the show we saw at Lamb's. I would have given Lamb's a 5 star review, however, it was WAY too hot in there. Easily 75 degrees F or higher, despite them claiming they have a new hvac system. Using a water bottle and tissues from her purse, my mom starting putting wet napkins on my 80 year old dad's forehead and legs to try to cool him. I was afraid he might pass out. We were crammed in an isle that was difficult to get out from during the performance. He is tall and was probably afraid to try to walk across all of the other people in the isle without falling over, and so he just sat there dying from the heat wondering when the show would just end. He was miserable. I was honestly wondering if i would have to call an ambulance to come pick him up. If you are 70+ yrs old, you should seriously consider whether you are healthy enough so sit in a hot room for an hour and a half. read more

The 2 stars are for the production of THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. Because Lamb's Players use to be a place you could go and not worry about the morality of the show. They would uphold Christian values and even had outreach street theater. I have been attending their shows for over 40 years. Having a "middle school age boy" sign about his erection is not something I want to pay to hear. I am disappointed that Lamb's Players feel they have to bend to society and have two dads. You have fallen a long way from your roots at Bethel college and your spiritual mission. read more

I have a few live theatre memories in my life that really stand out. One was seeing Me and My Girl in London. The second was the Broadway touring production of The Producers. The third, and only small theatre experience, was Lamb's production of Fiddler on the Roof. For a small theatre, Lambs really knows what they are doing. They have a group of regular actors that work really well together, and seem to always find outside ones that fit in really well with their ensemble of usuals. On Saturday night we took in their current production of Once, and it was absolutely outstanding. Neither one of us were surprised, as we have seen so many good shows there, and the oft-seen actors deliver it well. Occasionally they have a miss (last summer's Big Fish was not terribly compelling, for example), but more often than not, I find myself recommending their shows to friends. Especially impressive, is that they can excel in so many different types of performances. While Once is very music-heavy, their last show, Noises Off, featured insanely madcap antics delivered with astonishingly good timing. A few years ago, their production of Wit delivered a heavy, deeply emotional near-one woman performance with an equally deft touch. Pretty impressive stuff from a small theatre in Coronado, so if you're a fan of live theatre, go enjoy. read more

I came here yesterday for the first time and saw the Million Dollar Quartet! It was a great play/musical! The cast was super talented and was great to watch. I will definitely recommend family and friends to the Lamb's Players Theatre. The Theatre is beautiful and very well taken care of. It was 100 minutes and there was no intermission. Parking is a little sparse so definitely plan ahead! The two hour parking does not apply on Sunday's which is a great option! I look forward to attending more plays here! read more

I have watched several productions at Lamb's Players over the years and I always enjoy my visit to this theatre because it is very quaint and comfortable. The ushers are so, so friendly and sweet and the concession stand offers a very wide selection of drinks and eats, more that most theaters. Parking can be a bit of an issue, as is the case for most establishments on this street, so keep that in mind and be sure to arrive early to allow time to find a parking spot on the street. read more

I went to Lamb's Players Theatre this past holiday season to see An American Christmas. First, the theater is totally adorable. It was all decked out for the holidays too. The location is great with lots of restaurants nearby to grab a bite before the show. There is also plenty of free parking (at least on winter evenings). It is a small theater and even though our seats were toward the back, we had a great view of the entire stage, as every seat is a good seat. I thought the set was great....the home that the play was set in was detailed and really had the feeling of an old American home/diner. The ushers are friendly and I thought the actors were great. Our tickets were $44 each (no service charge online..amazing) and were well worth it! I wish the cafe had stayed open later....my friends and I were hoping to have a coffee after the show. The aisles were also a bit narrow. Many senior citizens were in the show and had some difficulty getting through with walkers or canes. In general, I loved it and look forward to seeing another show there! read more

Kick-ball-chain, jazz hands, twirls, leaps, a monstrous chorus in harmony. I think the best shows I ever see from here are the ones that involve music and dance. Once with West Side Story, and this time with American Rhythm. The performers are always extremely talented, and it comes off well with the audience. There aren't many bad seats in the house (if any). The incline on rows of seats definitely allow a clear view from anywhere except for maybe the sides. However, the sides might possibly be close to the performers up above the stage. Wherever, you're never far from the performers and stage. Obviously, if you're in or near the front row, there's plenty of opportunity to almost be part of the show briefly. If you're under 35, definitely take full advantage of their 'under-35' club which entitles you to half-priced tickets. The premise is that these shows should be made more available to a younger demographic, as the average age of show-frequenters seems like it's about 98. Be a little more sophisticated and spare yourself a few nights of 'bro'ing it up' at a bar or club. That money could EASILY go towards something a little more respectable. See a show here. In fact, see a live show anywhere they have available. Parking directly on Orange is tremendous if you happen to score that, but I'd honestly loop around past the theater and reach a stretch of parking on Isabella before the laundromat and liquor store at the corner of the block of the theater, if that makes any sense. We've gone to about 6 shows here and have never been disappointed. Plus, Coronado! My well-meaning feedback is that the sound equipment (microphones) might need some fine tuning or even replacement. I donated at the "Jewel in the Crown City" show and maybe new mikes are in the budget. I love this place!! This is a very intimate theater. We usually get seating in first three rows, but there is not a bad seat in the house. They also have an under 30 club where all the performances are 50% off! =Thumbs up!= It is also nice to step in next door to Encore for a glass of wine and snacks during the intermission. The performances are amazing. I've been to two plays and a dinner performance: "Into the Woods" (awesome musical), "Angel's Arms" (a sweet Christmas story), and "An American Christmas" (an interactive Christmas dinner show with 30+ cast members). Here for the first time to see Westside Story where my daughter's HS friend has the leading role, Maria. Very cute, clean, and tourist friendly island. We felt like we were on vacation here. This theater is older, also clean and presentable. Perhaps the smallest theater I've ever been to and it's a theater experience to remember. One unique feature about this theater due to its small size is that most of the seats are good except to the extreme right and left of the theater. The best seats, perhaps, is towards the center on top two or three rows. (There are only seven rows of seats in all.) Overall of this theater is great but the restroom. Once you close the door to the private stall, you're left with very little light without any natural lights. All you're left is the main light peeping through any and all openings through the bathroom door. Other than that, it's a place worth a visit and return visit. read more

The live band also stepped in for some spotlight performances and two of the performers played the guitar for their's too! This is a great little theatre! The other night was my first time at Lamb's, and it was a wonderful experience. My brother's friend was the lead in "The Fantasticks," and so he invited me to go along with him. It's an intimate theatre that seats approx. 300. There is a cafe attached to the side of the theatre, so you are able to grab a drink and snack before the show or during intermission. Lamb's is a classy and well designed theatre house...I even enjoyed the bathroom set-up (you'll just have to check it out when you're there; good use of space). I love that its located in Coronado; so that you can arrive early and enjoy the beauty that is Coronado, take a walk, grab some ice cream, or whatever. The one down side is parking, but that is something you're just aware of in Coronado. Oh, and the play was wonderful! read more
