I've spent a bit over the last three weeks in Germany, mostly staying in the Munich area, and of…read moreall of the places I have visited for mealtimes, my hands-down, recurring favorite is most certainly Cafe Schuntner. The wide array of homemade dessert options, alone, stands out in a city full of bakeries and cafes. Seriously, all of the cakes and pies are actually homemade, and each one I've seen looks like an expert crafting from the kitchen of some Food Network dessert master. Now, don't get it twisted--they also TASTE like the work of a dessert master. The sweetness is so perfectly balanced, both accenting and allowing the natural flavors of the main ingredients, like a schokotarte with a hidden layer of freaking APRICOT JAM!!! MIND AND TASTE BUDS BLOWN!!! Beyond the desserts (which clearly stand strongly, front and center) are a litany of wonderful food options, like the Spinat-Kokos-Suppe, which was easily the most flavorful, balanced, warming, and wonderful soup I've had in my entire life--at least top three, and I can't recall two others that actually come close to topping it. The coffee is well done, the assortment of Brot is well done, and in my final days here, there was even a RUM CAKE...with real rum, by the way, not some cheap, strange rum flavoring. Prepare to be nice and warm, with a fuzzy vibe, akin to the smiles and familiar after-effects of a mid-afternoon glass of Heidelbeere Glühwein. This may be the most-missed cafe I've visited, here, and if at all possible, I will return for more of this goodness. If you find yourself anywhere near Sendlinger-München, love yourself enough to find your way here.

Great cappuccino. We had the croissant with ham & cheese which the heated up . We went here 3 days in a row. Sampling the Swiss plate, Italian plate and the muesli. All of it was delicious and presentation was lovely. Extremely reasonably priced. Don't miss out on this great little find!!

Café Schuntner - I don't even remember what this is--just freaking try it, if you happen upon it and enjoy a mildly tart zing. You won't regret it.

Café Schuntner - Excellent, fresh, and strong Filterkaffee, a ridiculously wonderful cake I can't even explain, and a serious fave: the Schokotarte!!!

California done better than California itself - in the heart of Munich. Visiting Munich - seeing…read morethis place as a breakfast choice was fun - and honestly I wasn't initially enamored as I expect something like this to be a caricature of the real thing maybe. But the menu felt unique and interesting enough to visit. I got the Apple Almond Affair - stacks of pancakes, roasted apples and almonds - interlaced with vanilla cream, whipped cream and a side of vanilla ice cream. The Palm Beach - a coconut infused chia pudding with fruit. And - the Hermosa Beach - hash browns topped with mushrooms, onions, egg, bacon and cheese. Additionally - coffee! I was very satisfied with all the flavors - as I mentioned - better than California actually offers. The apple pancake dish was decadent but not over the top intensely rich as one may expect it to be. The hash brown dish was super flavorful and pleasantly presented, with fried eggs perfectly adorning the stack. And the chia pudding was also delicious (covered in bananas - which I removed for myself but were eaten by my companion). Currents and other fruit was atop this dish - a lovely flavorful pudding. Service was outstanding, welcoming. Seating - busy morning but no real wait. Cash only on this day due to network issues but that was ok. Just a very inviting space with lovely people and uniquely outstanding food. Must visit in Munich no matter where you are from!

I ordered a dark chocolate mocha and my friend got a cappuccino. We both got a palm beach bowl and her daughter got the strawberry dream. We went for "soda" - rhubarb fizzy water - yum! We also went when the 10 layer cake was rolled out - so that was cool! Definitely very sweet staff. Easy seating in the afternoon. It's off the main drag, but on one of side roads. Definitely stop in - get a pancake crumbly thingy that i can't remember the name of! Indicate you are an english speaker early on if you are - just so you don't spent alot of time just nodding! There is a stage in the middle that is raised up high and the bar beneath. Table surround it stadium style. They don't serve beer here so wine and mixed drinks it is!! And food. Lots of food. So came on the closing day of Oktoberfest and it was a blast. The evening reservation and everything. The band was hopping and the crowd was eating it up. The food is what you would expect. The service was on point and keep the drinks flowing. It was a little warm... But that is to be expected. Just go with the flow... Fun place and less rowdy than the other tents...
