I enrolled two kids (ages 8 and 11) in the Sk8gym summer camp program the week of July 20th. The…read moreteenage instructors were great with the kids, but the camp leadership and overall management tone made for a negative experience. Throughout the week, both of the kids reported a that instructor/owner was frequently shouting and harshly reprimanding young campers and the teenage instructors. During the final session, when the 11-year-old specifically asked the instructor/owner for guidance on how to ollie, instead of receiving coaching, he was told he could never learn the trick because of how he pushed on the skateboard. This left him in tears. Mind this is a camp to teach kids how to skate - of course they are not experts. When I contacted management directly to raise concerns about how the situation was handled, they refused to offer any accountability and instead placed the blame back on the child. While the staff on the ground are doing their best, I cannot recommend this camp due to management's unsupportive and harsh approach. Learning to skateboard should be a fun and welcoming atmosphere. This was not that.

The SK8 GYM owners(?) were quite helpful while I was thinking about taking a lesson. But once I…read morepaid and couldn't go, they all but refused to give me a refund. (Without going into detail, the reason was their fault, not mine.) As other reviews suggested, the owners delayed responding, blamed me, threatened me with a fee for the refund.... By the way, there's no way to contact an actual human being in "real time" -- no phone, no chat, just an email. The instructor who gave the lesson was good, very encouraging and clearly a great instructor. If I could rate the instructor alone, I would give a 5-star review. However, the overall experience really soured me to going back... ever. I'll go to the Church of 8 Wheels from here forward.

Wow. This is literally the largest playground in the East Bay I have seen and been to. If you know…read moreof any others this size or with this much equipment, would love to hear about it! While this park is a bit off the beaten path, I will say there is so much to do here for your kiddo (or let's be honest, you too haha). I feel this park has a lot of space and seems to be pretty safe, with Astro turf that I tend to not see at most smaller parks. There is plenty of parking across the street and nearby ~ with walking paths, a community center across the way, and picnic tables that we've seen many birthday parties/gatherings at. There are swings for all ages which for us right now is very nice, and it seems the area is split between age range which is also cool to see. There are fun 'hills' to climb with cardboard to slide down (this is where the Astro turf comes into play), and plenty of slides/equipment of all kinds for interactive and solo play. There are pretty nice 'larger' entertaining pieces of equipment (like a pirate ship that moves/shakes) for the older kiddos, and it's just overall a pretty epic playground to see/be apart of. Well done, can't wait to be back!

This park definitely needs an upgrade. The flooring needs to be redone, and there is a significant…read moreamount of tagging and throughout the area. The park is heavily used and showing a lot of wear and tear, so it really needs some attention, fresh paint, and general repairs. For the sake of the kids who use this park and their safety, I hope the city will consider investing some money into improving it. It's a great park in Walnut Creek and has so much potential, it just needs some care and renovation to bring it back to a safe, clean, and welcoming condition.

Date: 7/26/2025 Time: 12:45 PM 64° Cloudy…read more It has been about 50 years since I have visited this park. It was a company picnic and my daughter wasn't born yet. Wow! That is a long time. What brings me here today? Well, my daughter's boyfriend planned a picnic for his family and friends. This park is up in the Oakland Hills and in a somewhat different environment compared to several parks that I have been to in Oakland - Mosswood Park, DeFremery Park and Middle Harbor Shoreline Park for picnics. Less noise, hardly any sea gulls waiting to pounce on any remnant of food on the ground, no riff raffs crashing a picnic. Our group was situated in one area of the park with plenty of picnic tables and a bbq pit. I noticed further away was a play area for families with children. Usually I would get up and start exploring. However, old age has crept up on me. I just sat, ate my food and put in two requests for music. (No diggity...gotta bag it up...Blackstreet in the house followed with Groove Me by Guy). Always a hit at a picnic is Before I Let Go by the late Frankie Beverly and Maze. Perhaps I did not stay long enough to see if anybody was get them bones out for dominos or cards for spade. The weather got cold and I was tired.

Have been here a few times to play Pickleball. A friend is able to reserve the courts in advance,…read morewhich is great for busy times. Now that it is such a popular sport there is always somebody waiting. There is street parking which is free on Sundays, but otherwise paid. The park itself says no dogs allowed which is a minus. We do see dogs in the pickle ball area occasionally. As long as nobody's regulating, I guess they are fine. There are 4 courts and it can get a little annoying when the neighboring courts ball goes into your court since there's no barrier. There is cement stadium seating up on top so you can look down and watch the games if you like. Can get very sunny and windy depending on the day so be prepared! There are little benches on the size where you can place your stuff while you play. Be careful sitting on it, might be wobbly. Have not used the restrooms here, but heard sometimes they're closed or dirty. People usually go up to the Lucky supermarket around the corner to use the restroom.
