Everyone enjoyed the meal, nice presentation and all. I had only salad and took my kebab home and put it in the fridge as I was full, However, at 3 am they awoke violently ill. fever, chills, vomiting and you know.. the works Moctezumas revenge. I didn't eat my kebab until Saturday 8/26 at 5 pm I was not sick previously , I was fine, until I took three bites of the kebab gyro and went to sleep awakened 3 hours later violently ill. I am certain it was the meat that made us all so sick. I will need to speak with the manager there as its I believe dangerous. I would love to give them another chance but I am very hesitant to do so after a ruined weekend.

My only real complaint is the doner is not 100% lamb, even though I realize the main ingredient of doner does not necessarily have to be lamb. Fine, but they do not have any meat options that are 100% lamb, though the paidakia horin (ribs) were damn good. The service is usually pretty good, which is Mexican means overwhelming at first then frustrating because the waiter disappears, forcing you to go on a scavenger hunt for the check. Aside from that, the pita bread is delicious, but that should never be screwed up, under any circumstances. As far as seating, there are more options outdoors than indoors. As for parking, valet in Polanquito or else park outside of Polanquito and walk.

Where do I begin?…read more Israeli food in Mexico City? Did not have that on my bingo card. Boy did it deliver The service the good the simple ambiance all yummy.

We stumbled into Merkava after flying into CDMX. Our Airbnb was not available yet so we wanted a…read morecomfortable, air conditioned restaurant where we could kill at least 1.5 hours. Merkava is a beautiful little restaurant in La Condesa with both indoor and outdoor seating. As mentioned, we were tired from traveling and picked the cool, indoor seating and enjoyed the nice decor. We started with hummus and, not realizing it came with pita, also ordered the house bread. The hummus was a huge portion, enough to feed a group of 7-8 and came with a pouch of several warm pitas. The hummus was homemade and a bit chunky. The house bread was even better, coils of bread with tahini butter, serrano chili oil, and a tomato cumin sauce. The bread was fantastic, warm from being freshly baked and with buttery layers and the variety of dipping sauces was pleasant for dipping. A show-stopper of a dish was the whole roasted cauliflower served with zaatar, yogurt, and mint. Our head was cut into manageable portions for us, but interestingly, they served the adjacent table with a whole head for a more dramatic presentation. The cauliflower was tender and its mild flavor was enhanced by the zaatar spices. The fish of the day was the better of the two entrees. We liked the sauteed vegetables with lentils that it was served with, much like a ratatouille with lentils, along with a parsley sauce and grilled lemon. The wagyu kebabs were an odd texture, crumbled and dry. The restaurant provided a complimentary bite of dessert, a fruit (date, apricot) baklava of sorts that was a sweet bite to end the meal. All in all, we had a good meal at Merkava.

Merkavá - Delicious! Lots of vegetarian options, the cauliflower (not pictured was great), be prepared to leave very full.

Our menu had a set of appetizers followed by 6 courses and a dessert course. We also had the wine pairing, which was... absolutely perfect! My favorite course was the Ferrero of foie gras - a ball of foie gras with hazelnut wrapped in edible gold! Basically a Ferrero Rocher but in foie gras form - very soft and delicate, rich in taste. Another course that stood out was the chilled green tomato gazpacho with scallop and avocado - very clean taste. And I also loved the Iberian bacon with lettuce cream, marinated yolk, ravioli and beetroot tartare. This was very flavorful, but very well-balanced. That thinly sliced bacon though!!! I was not very impressed with the bluefin tuna with marmitako sauce - I understand they were trying to do a Mexican-inspired dish, but the tuna and heavy sauce just clashed, with the sauce completely overpowering the tuna. The roasted duck was just okay, as well. The skin was just not crispy enough for my taste. Loved the date and ginger puree, though! Loved all the desserts! Especially the pumpkin spice cake with tangerine ice cream! It came inside a carved-out frozen mini pumpkin, too, which was super cute! Service was top-notch - our glasses were always full and table never empty. The sommelier gave great descriptions of each glass! Would definitely recommend for a nice celebratory dinner or date night.
