I was told he would run out of the class. The teacher refused to close the door to mitigate these issues, as she said she couldn't chase him with such a large class. I was also told he had the worst behavior of anyone in the class when I was trying to relate on how other 4 years olds might exhibit challenging behavior. She mentioned next steps would include talking to the principal and everytime we picked my son up it was a super negative report never a single positive thing said about my son. I would expect teachers to work with children during their first school experience on their behaviors to help them adjust, but this was not my experience at New Hope. They seemed very quick to give up and complain about the situation. Remember this is someone's child and only saying negative things doesn't make a family excited to send their child here. the teacher suggested we needed to bring an aid in the classroom. I never one said my child was disabled or needed an aid. This all happened in his first 4 days of school ever. This has ruined my impression of New Hope as a school and as a church unfortunately.

My son has been attending New Hope Christian School (preschool) for the past 2 years. He was born…read moreon August 3rd, which is 3 days after the cut off to go to kindergarten. This meant we had to keep him in preschool an extra year before going to kindergarten. TUITION - Preschool and day care can cost an arm an a leg. Unfortunately, my husband and I do not qualify for any child care subsidies (military, hawaiian, or state/federal funded), and we have to pay tution in full. NHCS is one of the affordable preschools in the area. I did my research and looked for preschools located between Kapolei-Pearl City, and New Hope was the most affordable. We started him off part time, which was 3 full days a week. They also offer early morning care from 6:30am, which is an additional $50. I think we were paying $610 for 3 full days which included meals. This year, school meals are $40(?) per month. For full time with additional morning care and meals, we pay $810 monthly. It is a lot, but it's actually on the lower end compared to other schools that charge $800-$1000 for full time alone. LOCATION - NHCS is located in the Waipahu Town shopping center, along side Goodyear, Jeans warehouse, goodwill and Seafood city. Very convenient for those who live on the west side (Waipahu, Kunia, Ewa Beach, Kapolei) as you can just hop off the freeway to drop off and pick up. There are a few reserved parking stalls fronting the school. FACILITY - It can be deceiving as it does not look large from the outside, but this school includes Clean, well kept and air conditioned. Class rooms are divided by age, with the eldest (5 year olds) towards the entrance, and the youngest (2-3 year olds) towards the inner end of the hall way. The playground is in the back and is on the smaller side in comparison to other schools. STAFF - We LOVE my sons teacher. Ms. Nancy was his teacher last year and again this year. She along with the other teachers, Ms. Tasha, Ms. Joy, Ms. Sydni, & Ms. Vanessa are always so pleasant. My son usually cries at drop off time (yes, even though he's been going there for almost 2 years. Lol.) But they always welcome him in and help him adjust. The staff has a great communication system, and always emails and calls to notify and/or remind parents of any events, field trips, or emergencies. Another thing I like is that the teacher/staff conducts parent teacher conferences twice a year. I really appreciated meeting with them and discussing my child's progress. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical to send my son to NHCS, but I am glad I did. He has grown from a scared toddler into a little boy who is ready for kindergarten. Overall, I would highly recommend New Hope Preschool.

These are some of the things that i will never forget, but i have forgiven and moved on from Frist I would say that the principal called me into her office and lectured me about a conversation over payment that i had with her spoiled staff. She was extremely rude and would not hear myside of the argument. I am not a student but a grown man. Be respectful. There also was a time that it was raining. I was with my son who had autism and as we were walking inside the school building, me and my son fell hard to the ground due to a wet area. There was no wet floor signs. I was bleeding so was my son, just a little. We were both ok overall. But i remember no one helped us. People saw it and no one said a word. I was a few steps from the front office and i heard someone tell the front desk staff about the incident, yet no one from the staff made any effort to check on us. There office was literally steps away. As we got up and finished walking my daughter to class, i saw someone put up the wet floor sign. I really felt like an outcast that day but it gets worse. At their graduation ceremonies, you will really feel like an outcast if either you don't attend their church or not Hawaiian. I remember laud applauses for most of the local kids at the gradation, but my kids turn came, all the other parents where silent. This happened year after year. By the third year, I'm screaming at the top of my lungs. How can you treat my kids this way? Don't you know things like this stick in their heads for year and years There was an older coaches worked there. He send letters to my daughters and i guess, most the students who were on summer break. I always felt a little uncomfortable having letters go to my 10-year-old. Something just felt off. I mean a least announce that you will be sending out stay well letters to all the kids in the summer. I did not give her any of the letters My other daughter was struggling in 1st grade in all subjects. I met with the teacher and she told me that there is one child who is exceling and doing well who sits close to me daughter. She ask me if I wanted that child to help my daughter during school hour in class. i asked her why would she consider a young kid teaching another kid? I thought that was the teachers job? Fastforward my daughter now is at the top of her class in another school. In my opinion, only certain students are going to receive the "attention" they need to keep up with the class, let alone excel. Everything I'm saying is the truth I forgive you......but I'm glad we moved on for my kids' sake.

This is not for the waipahu campus but for the Ewa Beach (Elementary campus)…read more It's our son's first year with HTA as a kindergartner and we are at the end of the year so we definitely experience the whole school year with HTA. I want to start off with how happy we are that our son attends HTA. It was a great choice and big win. We have older children who go to multiple schools and HTA by far has won us over. The atmosphere and the attention that our son received in school is by far the greatest. The one on one with the student and teacher ratio works out great our kindergartener has excelled in so many ways. He's about to move on to first grade and he already can read books and tell time not only digital time but the wall clock which I remember only learning in the 3rd grade back in the day. He is also able to identify the currency (worth of each coin and what each coin is called) We do noticed a BIG difference in our son's confidence level and not being afraid to speak up and present his animal research to his fellow classmates. The teachers and staff are all so supportive and they are always so kind. They know every child just about by name which is great because they can identify each child's presence which is valuable and also for safety reasons. They also address any concerns or issues right away with the child and parents/ guardians. HTA has great staff who is able to provide support to the children and parents/ guardians. We are thankful that we are able to join our son on his class Field Studies. It is a true blessing to be able to have this experience to be able to understand what our child is learning on a daily basis. They have weekly agendas which keeps us organized and on schedule. We hope you enjoyed our first year experience review with HTA. Having a kind and supportive team makes a GREAT difference! So be nice to the staff members they deserve the Best!!

My nefew was bullied for his lunch and couldn't eat that day, the next day or two the same kid who is much bigger than him pushed him down and when mom called the school they just flagged her off. He was staying home for a couple of days out of fear and when I grew up this type of topic was handled in a timely fashion and not go on until something else worse happens. I thought schools here was better at handling this type of situation which is a very serious topic.

We attended a marriage seminar workshop here, was fortunate to have our one year old daughter blessed as well. There are an array of Ohana groups on campus to join, a preschool, and mission trips as well! We love how this church as an organization focuses more on giving back through its community outreach programs! We are sad that they will be converting to one campus as we loved it's Kapolei location which is closer to home. However we are excited to see what is in store at the Waipahu campus as we continue to give back a portion of what God has blessed us with so we can continue to grow in our faith and help others!

Saturday vigil mass in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii…read more.. I didn't have time to go to church on Sunday, so I looked for a Catholic Church nearby and attended the 6pm Saturday service. I heard that St. Joseph Church is really popular, so I arrived at 5:30pm - half an hour before mass. I got a great parking space (because we can park on school grounds, too) and entered the quiet, old-shool, air-conditioned church. Sitting in the back row, I appreciated the cushioned fabric on the wooden pews. I liked the high ceiling, wooden beams, and stained glass. The congregation was praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy instead of the Rosary. When mass began, I admired the many altar servers. It's a good idea to get young people involved! The choir included a flute, guitar, and bass. The female leader was competent. I didn't know all of the songs, but I was happy to sing America The Beautiful at the closing - in preparation for the upcoming 4th of July holiday! It was interesting that there was a Eucharistic Minister at the back of the church. There were two priests in the front... it sure helped the flow of people receiving the Eucharist! Overall, it was a great experience! I will keep this mass option in mind if I'm in the area again. Maybe next time, I'll stand up as a "visitor" and receive a shell lei from the greeter!

Church was packed which really made us feel happy. The Mass afterwards was attended with the same amount of parishioners who attended Stations. Father Manny gave an excellent homily. Church was originally built in 1860 but the current structure dates to 1941 when US Army Corps of Engineers Architect, Jozef van Oort redesigned it in Romanesque style and added the Bayerischen bell tower for reasons I couldn't discover through my research. The interior was remodeled in the modernist style in 2006. Enjoyed worshiping here with these lovely devout locals and highly recommend this parish if you are looking for a place to worship. Only negative thing is the parking situation which could be called atrocious and even moderately unsafe with the proximity of high velocity heavy traffic flow from adjacent Farrington. I guess it's a true test of Christian humility, patience, and charity to extract or ingress the parking area so actually it's a good thing.... Solid 5 stars. Mahalo for reading my review. Pax vobiscum.
